Presumably the Android logo robot, being an advanced form of technology, is somehow absorbing nutrients from the apple from a distance using some sort of siphon. Amazing!
And it's really there. I created a link to it . http://tinyurl.com/phb3dtc Sorry, had to use tinyurl due to special characters in the URL that meh forums did not like.
I think the idea is to make sure that Apple isn't using Google's maps for their maps. If you find that image in iOS maps it's obvious that Apple is stealing maps.
@lljk When I create my own google maps link right at the spot and navigate to it in a different tab, sometimes I have to move around on the map a tiny bit before it will show up.
@darksaber99999 I created a link to it where it should be visible. I created the link in Chrome and then loaded it in Safari and it was in the exact same spot. http://tinyurl.com/phb3dtc

It isn't appearing for me. Did Google take it down just now?
@lljk gone for me as well. was showing up earlier this morning. damn you @carl669!
@lljk @carl669 I'm still seeing it.
@lljk @carl669 I still see it but a quote from a news article says:
A Google spokesperson told Independent.co.uk: "We've been made aware of the issue and are working on getting it removed."
It will probably be removed soon.

Edit: To see this one, you need to have your zoom set between 50 and 100 feet.
