The same thing I want to get done every week. I want to be able to walk around the house without stepping on something that shouldn’t be there. It hasn’t happened yet, but I still have hope.
@lichme better a toy than a cat. Whenever I recline I need to get out without putting it back upright as several of my cats then go under there and stupidly trust I won’t smash them.
@Barney Our little guy has been really really good. Never fusses, always smiling, and overall a huge change over what our daughter was like. That being said, I can sleep for 4 hours, 8 hours, or any other # of hours and still be tired. Like fall asleep in the middle of a conversation tired. Pretty sure I have sleep apnea, but never went to get a sleep test done. It’s on the list.
@barney@RiotDemon I used to have hair around that long. Thicker than it is now but not as thick as the girl in the photo. When washing it all I really needed to do is dust off the bottom and wash the top 6 or 7 inches. I found long hair far easier to deal with than the (more or less) shoulder length stuff I have now.
Already did it. Sowed seeds in my garden yesterday. Hopefully I’ll see some sprouts in the next few weeks.
I guess I need to buy a new hose valve to replace the one by my garden. It leaks a little when it’s on so I can’t use my timer. Already repaired the broken PVC pipe.
That’s my goal this week. Unscrew and replace a valve. I’m so ambitious.
@f00l Same issue here. At one point I had enough junk for 1900 sf and now I live in far less space and can ditch most of the kid stuff. Been selling stuff but it takes a while to get rid of it that way. Getting ready to list a bunch of things on facebook/craigslist and then what doesn’t sell there, put in the garage sale across the street is having, then donate what is left to get it out of here. Problem is 1/2 my junk is 180 miles away. Hard to thin that out. Been hauling it up here little by little when I am down there. I keep reminding myself that just a year ago I was living first in a 80sf shed, then in an 425sf HUD place, and only missed some of my junk. The junk I did not miss needs to go.
I have been helped out by the last 3 groups of people I have hired to help me move stuff have stolen from me, in some cases things I really, really liked/needed/planned to save like all my tools, my 30 year old all metal with cheap filters humidifier, older all metal singer sewing machine, art work, family silver stuff, the 6’ brass rubbing of a skeleton I had originally discussed with @riotdemon (they then stole all the other empty poster tubes so that joke is on them but I am pissed!). I would not recommend theft as a way to dispose of things.
Here I have put some junk on the curb with “free” on it and by magic it is gone by the end of the day. Other stuff I have donated.
A friend who is going through a rough time is coming my way this week, and we’re having dinner (and probably also drinks) on Friday. I want to be a good friend and not be a jerk (harder than it sounds, I have some bad social tendencies I want to keep in check).
There’s also work stuff to do which is boring but I should stop procrastinating, some messages I haven’t been looking forward to sending that should be done, and generalized cleaning I’ve been putting off.
Work hasn’t made it clear if its going to eat a chunk of the coming weekend like it has many of the past weekends. I want to get the garage straightened up and start getting piled crap off the Challenger so that come the cooler fall I can actually do some work on it. Probably end up being a partial purge to trash and charity involved. After that no more crap piled on my Challenger.
Paint the bathroom. I got it primed and the trim is painted. Can anyone recommend a color for a very small bathroom with a tan sink and medium wood cabinet?
@RiotDemon@sammydog01 taupe always looks dirty to me. I would want something a bit brighter and cheerful. Bright white or blue or green. Think clean and spring colors
Even a hyacinth purple.
@CaptAmehrican@RiotDemon Thanks all. I picked three blues for samples and didn’t like them so back to the paint store. Maybe blue-green. And it’s another week already.
Sorry @Barney, I painted a bathroom purple once. Not a mistake I’ll make again.
@narfcake it used to be $5. Now they raised the price. Probably $9-10 now.
I used to mix paint for a while. Trust me, you’re not the only one. I had people that wanted me to choose for them. Like, hey lady, it’s not going to look the same inside your tiny dark cramped bathroom as it does inside this store. @sammydog01
@RiotDemon I tried a sample of a color very much like that. Our house is colonial and this bathroom is downstairs so I’m trying to keep it a bit more traditional.
The bathroom is 5 ft by 5 ft with a toilet in the corner so I’m not going to bother with a photo. The new sink is tan with a wood cabinet.
That’s why I use the Night Light mode on my Pixel, though it doesn’t help.
For a little bit I also tried the Grayscale mode which is part of Digital Wellbeing, to come on an hour or two after Night Light turned on, but it was too effective, so I turned it off.
I effectively killed off interest which I had in two book series by reading them on my phone, so that’s a good motivation for me to continue with physical books.
@PlacidPenguin@Targaryen I put my Kindle in a ziploc bag and read in the bathtub every night. Totally relaxing. Ask @mfladd for bubble bath recommendations.
The same thing I want to get done every week. I want to be able to walk around the house without stepping on something that shouldn’t be there. It hasn’t happened yet, but I still have hope.
@lichme
You reminded me of this.

Watch Your Step
Price: $19.00
Condition: Probably New
@PlacidPenguin
Another common one for me. Closing the foot rest thing of a recliner, and hear a loud crunch after destroying whatever toy was underneath.
@lichme
Toy murderer!
@lichme better a toy than a cat. Whenever I recline I need to get out without putting it back upright as several of my cats then go under there and stupidly trust I won’t smash them.
@Kidsandliz That would be… CATastrophic
@lichme this reminded me of pinky and the Brain.
I need a haircut.
/image hair
@Barney Just one? HAHAHAHAHA I’m hilarious. NOT!
Please don’t ever say this to me, or anybody else.
@lichme Have you gotten any sleep in the last few months?
@Barney Our little guy has been really really good. Never fusses, always smiling, and overall a huge change over what our daughter was like. That being said, I can sleep for 4 hours, 8 hours, or any other # of hours and still be tired. Like fall asleep in the middle of a conversation tired. Pretty sure I have sleep apnea, but never went to get a sleep test done. It’s on the list.
@Barney if that’s all her hair, I’m insanely jealous. Mine is almost the same length, but probably a tenth of the volume.
@RiotDemon
Re really long hair
Is it a lot of trouble to deal with?
@f00l mine is not. It’s wash and wear.
It’s annoying when it’s windy. That’s what buns are for.
@f00l @RiotDemon
Though you could always be less traditional.
@PlacidPenguin
@barney @RiotDemon I used to have hair around that long. Thicker than it is now but not as thick as the girl in the photo. When washing it all I really needed to do is dust off the bottom and wash the top 6 or 7 inches. I found long hair far easier to deal with than the (more or less) shoulder length stuff I have now.
What do I want to do this week?
The same thing I do every week, @Targaryen. Try to take over the world.

How To Take Over the World
Price: $19.00

@narfcake
I have cat(shirt) repellent.
@PlacidPenguin
/giphy Pinky and the Brain
@narfcake
The @f00l is learning.
I was watching some Bubba Bo Bob Brain before.
@PlacidPenguin Does it constantly start over or is it an ongoing process?
@Targaryen
Where would the fun be in continuing the same method?
Each week is a new convoluted plan.
@PlacidPenguin yes!
@RiotDemon
Don’t forget to screw it in.
@RiotDemon
I envy your skillz and your goals and your get-right-on-it attitude.
@PlacidPenguin thanks for reminding me. I would of probably forgotten.
@RiotDemon It’s something to do. Maybe come up with something new. There are some great free courses for free on courser which might be interesting.
@Targaryen unfortunately between work and other things, I’m actually much busier than I let on.
Is the website Coursera?
Stare at the disorganized mess until it becomes uncomfortable, and goes away (all by itself, no assistance from me) to live somewhere else.
@f00l
Bring me in, and I’d gladly take care of it for you.
I won’t fly or take public transportation though.
@PlacidPenguin
Are you willing to ride in a vehicle driven by me for all those miles?
@f00l
What kind of vehicle?
@f00l Dallas is nice.
@f00l Same issue here. At one point I had enough junk for 1900 sf and now I live in far less space and can ditch most of the kid stuff. @Targaryen
And rather close!
You want me to drop all my junk in your doorstep?
How nice!
Perhaps @placidpenguin will help me get it to you
I promise, the stuff is junk.
Some good things.
Mostly junk.
/giphy dallas downtown
@PlacidPenguin @Targaryen
Ha ha giphy is fucked up today.
@f00l @Targaryen
I want the junk though.
@PlacidPenguin
A station wagon in excellent condition. Runs great. New tires.

@Kawa Well, just take them out and let them vent. If things are bad you might not even need to say much.
Work hasn’t made it clear if its going to eat a chunk of the coming weekend like it has many of the past weekends. I want to get the garage straightened up and start getting piled crap off the Challenger so that come the cooler fall I can actually do some work on it. But I’ll probably get stuck with work again.
Figure out those pesky lotto numbers
@tinamarie1974 when you figure it out let me know.
@tinamarie1974 try stocks next time, even if you screw up royally, you only lose 20-30% instead of all
I feel motivational-less…meh on this getting stuff done thing
Most important thing - apply for at least 50 jobs.
Paint the bathroom. I got it primed and the trim is painted. Can anyone recommend a color for a very small bathroom with a tan sink and medium wood cabinet?
@sammydog01 those colors are fairly neutral and go with most things.
I like crazy colors.
/image Royal purple bathroom
@sammydog01 taupe or greige seems to be the most popular choices online.
/image taupe bathroom
/image greige bathroom
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 I love purple.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 taupe always looks dirty to me. I would want something a bit brighter and cheerful. Bright white or blue or green. Think clean and spring colors

@CaptAmehrican @RiotDemon Thanks all. I picked three blues for samples and didn’t like them so back to the paint store. Maybe blue-green. And it’s another week already.
Sorry @Barney, I painted a bathroom purple once. Not a mistake I’ll make again.
@Barney @sammydog01
Well what shade of purple was used?
@sammydog01 last bathroom I painted for my mom, it was a light mint pastel green. She liked it.
I think I’m going to paint my current bathrooms a light grey. I bought some mistake paint for $5 each.
@sammydog01 I guess I’ve had worse things said to me.
@Barney
Unpossible.
@RiotDemon @sammydog01 “Mistints” FTW. It’s $9/gallon here, but that’s better than the $30 or so it’d otherwise be going for.
@narfcake @RiotDemon I have spent several months prepping the walls. I’m gonna buy the most expensive paint they make.
Now I’m trying some samples more minty. I hate this so much.
@sammydog01
@sammydog01 you have a picture of the bathroom you’re willing to share?
I used something similar to this:
@RiotDemon I tried a sample of a color very much like that. Our house is colonial and this bathroom is downstairs so I’m trying to keep it a bit more traditional.
The bathroom is 5 ft by 5 ft with a toilet in the corner so I’m not going to bother with a photo. The new sink is tan with a wood cabinet.
I’m down to 2 colors:

and

The colors on my computer don’t match the paint samples. Tomorrow I have to buy paint.
@sammydog01 so similar! Good luck!

It’s Monday again and I’m not motivated…
Take a new account through implementation. Perform some exercise. Read a book, for pleasure, 30 min a day.
@connorbush Read the book in bed instead of the phone. Research has shown that the blue light from phones can disrupt sleep. Give that a shot.
@Targaryen
@PlacidPenguin That helps! Gotta create that device-free relaxation zone in your bedroom. I do a bit of my reading there.
@PlacidPenguin @Targaryen I put my Kindle in a ziploc bag and read in the bathtub every night. Totally relaxing. Ask @mfladd for bubble bath recommendations.
@Targaryen
You read in my bedroom? o_O
@PlacidPenguin Did you not notice?
@Targaryen
I’m more amazed that you constantly physically live to tell the tale.
Get more unpacking done so I can hurry up and go buy some new furniture.
