See y’all in two weeks. Flight is delayed for 3 hours so I am chilling at LAX till 1 am PST. Any advice for the trip? Going to fly into Cebu. Avoiding Manila.
Enjoy your trip to Cebu. It is not as congested as Manila. From Cebu, Boracay and Bohol are not that far away. Check the weather, as we’re entering into the stormy months.
If you’ve never been there, and you can manage it, visit Taal Lake. Besides being a volcanic caldera and an island in a lake on an island inside a lake that’s on an island and so forth…it is one of the most beautiful natural wonders ever.
@f00l
Also the ecosystem/biology of the lake is pretty unique…because the lake was a bay until a volcanic explosion closed it off from the sea…and then weather gradually changed the saltwater to freshwater over centuries. Many species adapted.
Less than a month ago, daughter unit 2 got back from a 3ish week trip visiting her boyfriend’s extended family. She had a wonderful time. Maybe I’ll visit there one day (after I no longer have to pay her tuition, etc. I’ll even be able to afford it).
I’ve never been, but I know that the new president is EXTREMELY anti-drug users/drug dealers. So you want to make sure you avoid any of that business. Fun fact, the new president, Duterte, has the coolest nickname of any head of state ever: The Punisher.
@f00l I have it from a dual citizenship holder that the crackdown has the overwhelming support of the people. The Phillipines has been basically taken over by the drug trade for several decades, and Duterte is cleaning house albeit ruthlessly. I can’t say I agree with his methods because I believe in due process, but I have to admit he is doing exactly what he said he would do during his campaign which is more than I can say for our politicians here. My source tells me that crime is now next to nil in many major cities and that Duterte’s crackdown has resulted in the capture and processing of over 60,000 drug users and dealers in just over two weeks. I’m happy with his results, just not necessarily how he’s achieved them. But I don’t live there, so I don’t have a dog in that hunt.
Say hi to Zeka for me K?
@therealjrn hopefully not. Malaria, typhoid, hepatitis A, terrorism, etc. trying to avoid them all.
If you see any empty rows of seats after boarding is finished grab them fast … lying down for 16 or so hours is better than sitting.
And LA/anything sucks. Fucking Kali’s
/not that there is anything wrong with that.
I’m going in a few months … so give details when get back…
Why are you avoiding Manila? My parents are flying there soon…
@kelli52578 oh just because we’re going to family reunions in other places. Not for any reason really. Sorry for the scare.
Bon Voyage!
Beware the Dolphins (me so horny)

@f00l what is in the center? Tootsie roll or Bubble gum?
@f00l Unfortunately, Taal Lake is near Manila (about an hour’s drive on light traffic) and Cebu is a plane ride away from Manila.
Have a wonderful time!

@moldham
I hear a major law and order crackdown is ongoing. Someimes extra-judicial.

In Cebu and alive. Going to go to many super cool places. I’ll try and snap pics along the way with my Polaroid cube.
