Goat Tool Day 3
15Is it a toy? Is it a tool? Is it a kaiju?
Neji-saurus pliers by Engineer.
Ever have to deal with a screw with a stripped out head? What’s your usual approach? File or saw a slot, and use a flat blade screwdriver? Pliers? Vise-Grips? Drill it out? Rubber band? Grit? Blue point wrench (cutting torch)? Impact driver? Cursing?
Here’s another option. The Neji-saurus pliers are designed for screw removal. Any which way you look at it, there are teeth designed to cut into the screw head and give you a solid grip. Look at the teeth on this thing!
Here’s the cover, isn’t it cute?
There’s a range of the pliers in different sizes. The locking plier (Vice-Grip) is new to me, I may have to buy that.
They are also rebranded and sold under the Vampliers name. The main difference is the handles are red.
They are also handy for removing oddball and “security” screws that you don’t happen to have the special tool for.

In my searching for pictures, I came across two wondrous things. First, there is a Neji-saurus plush. I need this!
@blaineg That’s ridiculously cute.
/giphy I’ll allow it.

I vote tool. I’ve tried most of those screw removal techniques. I’ve found cursing is the most fun but least effective. $#!%
@eonfifty It’s both a tool and a toy.

Like this mix between a husky and a … Pomeranian.
@mike808

That’s s foxy Pomeranian.

@eonfifty @mike808 I actually came in here to say I’m enjoying the new goat posts, but I miss the Pomeranians. Feeling better now.
Second, Neji-saurus stars in his own series of videos!
Dammit, looks like I’m buying some tools.
Check out their scissors:

They have an awesome aesthetic quality in addition to seeming to put lots of thought into functionality.
The cover for the pliers appears to be a separate accessory. I don’t think I’ll spring for that part.
VAN MURALS! GROUND SQUIRRELS! SPIT CURLS! AWESOME!
@djslack I’ve got a pair of the scissors, with red handles. Red was a little more expensive, but I thought it was worth it if they’d stand out on my workbench better.
They’re amazing, equally at home cutting paper and the toughest, thickest thing you can throw at them. Very satisfying to hold and use.
@djslack I’ve seen the pliers cover included as well as sold separately.
@djslack That might have been unclear. I’ve seen the pliers sold with the cover, and sold without the cover, and you’d have to buy it separately. Amazon is selling it without the cover.
Same sort of deal with the Vampliers.
Without the cover seems most common.
And now I’m thinking maybe I need to buy another pair for the kitchen. It may be overkill, but the Kuhn Rikon Shears I bought a few months back have turned out to be crap. The blades are stamped steel, and flex open on stuff that shouldn’t be a challenge to cut. Not worth the $13 I spent.
Then again, Schlock Mercenary has something to say about overkill.
Dang. I want some vampliers.
I have two giant toolboxes. I didn’t even fill the first one before I bought the second one… I guess I need more stuff.
All my tools, and I do mean all of them as I finally had put every tool I owned in the same place (as well as every single piece that was needed to screw/put back together again all the furniture I took apart to move) was in my toolbox that got stolen when I moved. What upsets me the most is the missing pieces to my great grandmother’s melodeon (early pump organ, 1863 signed and dated by the builder inside) and my dad’s blue wood handled screwdriver with removable heads. Sentimental, but worked well. One of only two things I have/had of his. I need to look at replacing more tools than I have. I currently have some screwdrivers and one pair of pliers. Oh and a hammer.
@Kidsandliz That really stinks. Tool thieves should be strung up like horse thieves. A friend had all the tools in his garage stolen a few years ago. The list of possible suspects was nearly endless, as he’s always helping people, and lots of people knew what’s in his garage. His insurance paid out some, but that can’t restore everything that’s lost.
Ya, fine. I’ve got to remember to blame the goat for forcing me to buy more tools.
@ruouttaurmind Hey you guys, quit stealing my future tool topics! First the scissors, now this. Sheesh!
@blaineg What is this, the goat is blaming? I do not like this, I do not like this at all. The goat is to be blamed!
@blaineg I guess you’ll have to supplement with more toy topics then. That’ll make sammydog01 happy too.
@Mothersnakes Sorry, I wasn’t given the goat handbook, nor any training. Lemme see now, who should I blame?
@blaineg @Mothersnakes always blame the goat, even if you’re the goat.
Hey meh buyers now I want one. Can you gals and guys find some to sell me?
