Giant Bubblegum Machine
37No one is probably interested in this but me, but I finally, finally sold the giant bubblegum machine I got in a foku. Craigslist didn't work, local paper didn't work. Online yard sales, over and over, someone would like it and not show up, or their wife said no. But today, two guys came and got it. Husband's so happy it's out of the garage. And I'm $80 richer.

Congratulations! I'm glad you got $80 out of it- did it still have the full amount of gumballs in it?
@dashcloud Heavens no. The gumballs that came with it must have been 10 years old or however long it was sitting in a warehouse somewhere. If you dropped one, it shattered. I put about 15 pounds of new ones in, probably down to 10 now because the grandkids gobbled them. And those 15 pounds didn't come anywhere near filling it. Maybe 1/20th.
Yay! :)
Almost forgot. Thanks Meh, it was a lot of fun. I think I suggested in your birthday card that you might want it back, but it's too late.
Now if I could find buyer for 200 trip glasses
@somf69 ill take a few :)
@somf69 perfect for trick or treat !
@ceagee I thought the same thing, but then I thought of the liability issue. Some 6 year old has a siezure or gets a headache or something else that would piss off thier parents
@somf69 I just tested the trip glasses I got in my fuku. The on switch is always on, so I had to replace the batteries. The effect was extremely unpleasant. They do come with headphones of airplane giveaway quality, so there's that.
@pooflady congrats on getting rid of it! And thanks for being such a great sport about it. Honestly this is still one of my favorite Fuku memories and it's great to relive every now and then so I appreciate you keeping us updated on the saga.
@MEHcus Maybe you can add to the story by telling us about how it came to be, and where exactly you order a gumball machine like that?
@dashcloud Just found them laying around the warehouse of course ;)
@MEHcus Right. The good fairy just left it there for you. LOL
@Kidsandliz Maybe the Heelys people were addicted to gum.
Holy Crap! I have always wanted one of those!!! I so would have given you much more😜. My neighbor had one sitting in the garage but wouldn't sell it.... If only....😝
@wildmomo There’s a house near here that has one in the front yard, minus the top half of the globe.
It’s sad. There are so many niche items that a few people fervently want, and a few people desperately want to get rid of, and there’s no long-term pairing service where they could find each other.
Good work!
Now you don't have to curse meh under your breath every time you go into your garage!
@smilingjack But every time I mention fuku to my husband, he gets this deer-in-the-headlights look.
@pooflady I wonder why? The worse I ever got was the box of cheap, plastic toy army guys.
I was just telling a friend what the possibilities of fuku/i.r.k. bags were. I told the story of the person that received a giant gumball machine. You’re a legend.
@tonylegrone Holy necropost, batman! Thanks for the nostalgia!
Edit: and for anyone curious what this person got in their Fuku (now IRK) seven years ago
Reminds me I need to find the key and top nut for my reg’lr size gumball machine.
