Gaming monitors
3OK... Here's the deal guys...
I currently am using a Sony Playstation 3D display as a monitor... I'd love to get a 2nd one but I'd love to do 4K gaming also... So... Anyone suggest a 2nd monitor that can do 2K/4K and may have 3d... Here's the kicker... I'm cheap when it comes to monitors... :) Let me know what you guys think/what you game on.

Honestly, the newer 4k TVs make good monitors. My brother in law just got a curved 42" 4k TV for a monitor and liked it so much, he got rid of all of his old LCDs.
EDIT: I meant to add that the new 4K TVs have really great refresh rates. The monitors are basically the same with less inputs and no speakers, but they cost twice as much.
@capguncowboy *ftfy its a 55 inch
@sprockett01 Wait, are you @capguncowboy's brother-in-law?
@jqubed No Sprockett01 is my brother
@sprockett01 Now that you mention it, I do remember it being 55". It's funny -- I was thinking 55 sounded too ginormous, but it sounds about right for him
@capguncowboy I'm currently using a "monitor" made for the ps3... I love the 3d feature (but rarely use it) However... I'm in a closet (not figuratively, my desk is set up in a large walk in closet for my "gaming den... damn kids ;) )
So... too big of a tv isn't too great... ideally under 30"
heres is a generic south korean 4k moniter for $320

@communist I'm checking it out, but that looks GREAT by specs before I open it...
Not compatible with mac or laptops... huh? But the PIP sounds awesome... video gaming while "Studying"
@sohmageek Most of the monitors should be compatible with laptops, even at 4k if you have mini-dp to hdmi. Too bad that one you posted just went up from $280 the past week or two to $320 again, it'll probably go down again though. But 4k 28" monitors have been very cheap lately, especially korean or refurb:

or if you want bigger, then you go with the (usually worse at colors or similar things) TVs as monitors:

27" ViewSonic- Newegg Shellshocker deal (today only). I have no experience with this particular monitor, but the price seems great at $189 for a 2ms. http://www.newegg.com/Special/ShellShocker.aspx
@gregormehndel @sohmageek just to be sure you get this.
Depending on what kind of games you like, you might want to consider an ultrawide 2k monitor instead.
I have an LG 25UM56-P, which is available now for under $200, and it's great for racing games and 16:9 movies. The kids play a LOT of Rayman Legends, and with the extra wide screen you actually see more stuff on the sides than you would normally. Not all games support that aspect, though, it lacks built in speakers.
Although I love my Meh Samsung 4K Hz So Good monitor, I think 4K gaming is a bit overkill. I recommend just getting a nice WQHD monitor (I have two of these: http://www.amazon.com/PB278Q-2560x1440-DisplayPort-Ergonomic-Back-lit/dp/B009C3M7H0 and I'm sure you could get it for cheaper). It's more than clear enough.
@grum I'd love to do Eyefinity on that with 3 of them in portrait mode.... That'd be drool worthy... :)
