Game time: Gridland - Bejeweled + Minecraft

It seems like a standard match 3 puzzle game but it's actually much deeper and fairly strategic. It's described as a 'Survival Puzzle RPG.'
There's resource collection, upgrades, monster fighting, leveling up, treasure, skeletons, and more!
I don't want to get too in-depth about what to do because figuring it out is part of the fun. I will say what you do during the day affects what happens at night. You can click on buildings to prioritize upgrading them and during the night cycle you click on the items in the bottom right to use them.
I'm on Day 7.

Dude. While I appreciate you doing your best to keep us entertained, some of us at work are trying not to be so blatant about our slacking. Are there any word games you can start? Top 5 lists, book recommendations, making up stories about each other like from day 1, our best Jack Handy impressions . . . recipe swaps?

Aaaaghhh! I keep dying the night of Day 3! What am I doing wrong? I'm usually pretty good/fast at the bejeweled type games, but obviously that's not enough for this.
@PurplePawprints Okay, made it through night 3 (though I don't know how) but can't get through night 4. This is both frustrating and addictive.
@PurplePawprints fast is bad at night! most of the matches spawn monsters and too many matches at once and you get over run
@metaphore Yeah, I've just put that together and started going slower, but I'm still not getting far. It took me way too long to figure out fast=bad.
@PurplePawprints It took me till like day 8 to figure out that I needed to slow down, and like day 12 before I realized I needed to be strategic with the building upgrades
@metaphore Well, I'm glad it wasn't just me then! I think I'm getting the hang of not dying at least.
@metaphore I'm still figuring out how the upgrades are working and what's helping/hurting.

@Thumperchick The first 2 upgrade monsters and the 3rd and 4th are sword and shield. Early on I got stuck for awhile cuz I was upgrading a monster one too early

I finally figured out that swords and shields are good at night. Not a clue what the other stuff does.
And absolutely zero idea what the day stuff is about. Like, do I want to get rocks? What's the diff between the red rocks and gray ones? Does it even matter what you match up as long as you're getting matches?
About the only thing about day I figured out is that each match ticks the sun across the sky one increment.
@Bingo Day is way easier than night. Day is for upgrades, it does matter what you get because different buildings take different materials to upgrade. The wheat heals you and the rest are used for upgrading the different buildings which affects how night works.
You really must stop posting things like this. I got sucked into the vortex last night and the only thing I remember was realizing I was on Day 98 and it was 3 am.
I died on night 8 because I was curious what something new would do when I matched it. Bad idea.
Also, I almost forgot to wake up my daughter for school.
@milujite That would be an interesting excuse for the school to hear.

This was dangerous. I opened it up this morning at work and next thing I knew I was on day 31 and it was quite later than it should have been.

Day 58 maxed out buildings (I think no more upgrades are starting) got the dragon gem (after killing the wizard dude) I think is the end but I can't ever kill the dragon. Has anyone gotten past the dragon?
@Ruger9mm Which dragon? I've got gems, the orb thing, and dragons and all kinds of ridiculousness. I am on Day 54. (I will probably know what you're talking about soon I guess.)
@Thumperchick When you match 4 or more during the day a purple crystal is created, at night they turn red. Match three red crystals at night and a wizard thing attacks. Sometimes when you kill the wizard it drops a treasure chest. In the chest will be a dragon amulet. It will sit next to the powerups like your bombs and red potions on the lower right at night. Click the dragon amulet and a dragon attacks you. The regular enemies no longer attack and the matches you make with the tiles change how the dragon attacks (fire or ice) and you can only damage the dragon with a sword (or if you have bombs left those work also), but I can't actually ever kill the dragon I die to quickly.
@Ruger9mm See, that wizard kicks my ass. I have been avoiding him by not matching the red gems. I guess it's something I need to face soon, but in the mean time, I'll just keep trying to survive to build another day. :)
@Ruger9mm The dragon - take your time and stock up all of your stores - potions, shield/sword, bombs, etc. - use your purple orb to shift into the next day if you're about to be mobbed on. You can do that indefinitely, so long as you keep powering it up with purple jewels. If you need to buy time while facing the dragon, match ice. It will freeze you for a bit with no damage and buy you a minute to make some moves. Good luck!
