Fruit Tree of the Day: Jaboticaba
5
Taking a look at the picture, you can tell something is off. Unlike most fruit trees, this bears fruit directly off of the trunk (not usually in that quantity, though). Also called the Brazilian grape, this tastes like a grape seasoned with a bunch of black pepper. Even the texture is halfway between the both fruits.
Since the fruits grow right on the trunk, the trees don’t need to be trimmed. The only thing they need is a little fertilizer about every 4 months–more if your soil has a high pH. This tree also needs zone 9b minimum. Never grown a tree myself, and I’m trying to post this before midnight so it still counts as today’s tree, so that’s all there is to say.

Oh, how strange, it looks like it’s infested with something - kind of creepy! I guess it would be nice and easy to harvest though.
Well, I’ve never heard of this and the description is weird as heck.
Thanks!
@RiotDemon If I finally came up with one you didn’t know about, I’d say I can retire in peace… but I still have 3 more days. Emeritaciousness can’t come soon enough.
@RiotDemon @Weboh
google this word
Emeritaciousness
@jrwofuga @RiotDemon I didn’t think it was a real word. I just made it up to describe becoming emeritus. The structure of the word makes sense, even if it’s not a real word. Like Jaberwocky.
I was reading about these last week. Your supposed to make a slit in them and suck the insides out (not eating the flesh). There’s some that taste like blueberry yogurt, another is pudding I think. You won’t find them in stores bc they spoil to fast. There is a website from someone in Florida that will ship them to you.
If you go back to his post about the fruit that looks like a pineapple but you take the pieces out and chew and suck the juice Out of it, follow the link for more about the fruit and then search for this fruit. A guy show a video of tasting them and where you can order them from.
