Still waiting for last times order, Meh - what up?!!!
For this camera - got one from the 'Depot for the same price - and it was a PAIN IN THE ASS to setup... Oh, and Chrome isn't supported for web viewer - might want to note that ;) There is a workaround which involves enabling part of the browser that opens a giant gaping security hole...
@thismyusername Eh, time to get someone to print a skin for my sphero... Thanks MEH for the sphero, and no thanks @Jetlag for making me spend more money :P
@fargoadvice Funny, just yesterday somebody I know was saying they couldn't figure out how BB-8 worked and my proposed mechanism started with, basically, a giant version of my Sphero. (Which I also got from Meh. In fact I think it was the very first thing I bought here.)
Hey Meh, when you gonna have a deal on Sphero Peacekeeper Editions?
It seems like Meh runs on a 45 day cycle then reboots and starts listing the same products all over again. The amount of reruns kinda bum me out.
I can't attain personal fulfillment buying stuff I already own! I need the promise of something new, because this time really is going to be different.
To be fair, I can understand why Meh brought these back. The last couple of times Foscams were available, they sold out. I'm sure it's worth learning if people are willing to pay $20 more for a higher quality product.
Can we rotate back to the cutting boards? Every time I wash the one I have in between cutting chicken and vegetables, I regret that two-for-tuesday I didn't bite on.
Having received an IP cam in the fuko... It creeps my roommates out. Great success. Also excellent if you have a haunted house, rodent infestation, or small child.
And a speaker dock in a fuku, which I actually use daily.
fyi this camera is nicer than the ones previously sold here (and nicer than recent deals at Home Depot and Adorama). it hasn't been on sale for less than $70 as a refurb according to the lord of internet deals, slickdeals.
@jmckinl The quality is a huge improvement (I own a few of both) and this one, although performance is a tiny bit slower (6 second delay) to Android & iOS apps (third party OR Foscam's own) when compared to the $33 camera from two weeks ago (that isn't doing anything due to the VERY lightweight interface) - that being said, they both do H.264 AND mjpeg - but it's comparing Honda's (8910W) and Corvettes (9821P) ;) - Oh, and remember, with the firmware that will come with it (the latest 2 versions, actually) Chrome is NOT officially supported any more! (they removed the Chrome plugin, you have to force chrome to allow their new .exe installed on Windows machines)
@fargoadvice So the picture is that much better than the 8910's? I have 2 8910's and they are cool for regular use, but not great. I know someone that wants to film their front yard to capture license plates and funny business, will this do that well?
@Stallion I don't know about long range night vision, but I can see my daughters eyes move - in pitch black - VERY clearly, and my infants fingers, both from about 20 feet away... the 8910's give me a decent but not clear picture... I am THRILLED so far. I haven't gotten alarming to work yet - the 9821's have a plugin for Kodi that when the cam see's motion/audio alarmed, it will popup the cam as a notification, I think it may need a microSD in there for that, and I am NOT tossing in a spare 64 just for that :D :P
@Stallion I don't have anything setup for recording right now - with the 9821's they have a microSD and a plethora of abilities: Motion, Audio, Motion limited to a certain area of the screen (you choose), Black out the ability of the camera to look at a certain place (bathroom, for example, if the camera is in a hall)... The Recording may go locally to the MicroSD onboard, or to an FTP or both! I prefer FTP to my server - but most people don't have a dedicated FTP server in their houses :P MicroSD is a fantastic way to go - VERY nice!
So we started tinkering with these from a previous sale just this week. Web interface works just fine in Chrome, and wasn't bad to set up. Worst part was getting the IR to stay off (looking out a window) and the patrol feature disabled.
Yesterday it sent a motion alert cause there was a giant wasp on the window. Slightly creepy images.
On the fence with this one. These are good cameras, and contrary to popular myth, easy to set up and get working. They work well for what we use them for: keeping track of the house/cats when we are away overnight (which means they are unplugged 99% of the time!) A bit of advice: change the default port and default admin account/password. Otherwise you'll feel the gaze of Russian eyes at the most unusual times...;)
We bought them new for $80-$100 a couple years ago. So, this price is better than that, but since they are re-pops, I haven't hit the "buy it" button yet.
Bottom line, good item, very "Meh" pricing. I thought Meh was smart enough not to try and milk every last drop from the cow? Sadly, the trend lately contradicts that belief though......
Damn! Can I exchange the other one I bought for this one? I'm having real trouble setting up the tortoise cam. There are sad turtles and tortoises waiting for entertainment (and humans and dogs too! The cats don't seem to care. )
Got an email from Meh yesterday, apparently they oversold the white cameras (I bought 3). Said we could pick black ones instead, which I didn't want. Bummer had to cancel...
9821 arrived today. Pulled hair out trying to get it to connect to wifi -- partly because router is wonky with WPS. Finally connected directly to router, then used software from http://foscam.us/tools-support.html to configure. Set up the wifi, disconnected the ethernet cable, and all is well.

smell that? that's some traaaaaaash!
I feel like this was cheaper a couple months ago...interesting strategy, meh!
@mbills2223 Note the resolution. This one's got more pixels.
@lljk this is meh...I didn't come here for pixels, I came here for cheap shit!
I stayed up for this????? Rabble rabble rabble
This will always be a Meh, regardless of how many times it's offered.
I got the 640x480 model the last time it came around and it was good enough for my purposes.
Note: My purposes for it do not extend much beyond "fucking around."
@lljk Click. Click. Click. Click.
@lljk I bought the last one and haven't even tried it yet. The 720p impulse buy will have to wait until next time.
I got this when it was an Insteon. Meh.
Enjoy your lanterns, suckers.
Does it have a LED lamp included?
@Quantumcat only time will tell ;)
@Quantumcat it didn't last time
Works great as a baby monitor. I use it for that purpose. HIghly recommended.
@okaytodd Can i borrow your baby?

Laaammmeee
$54 seems like an average price for a refurb.
@RedHot
Was cheaper new

@ghazianas
I guess IP cams are the new speaker docks.
Where can I get a decal set to make this look like R2D2?
@Jetlag R2 who.... it's all about BB-8 these days!!!
@Jetlag http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-STAR-WARS-R2-D2-R5-D4-POWER-DROID-LOT-REPLACEMENT-STICKERS-DECALS-/141336489406?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item20e84fadbe
@thismyusername Eh, time to get someone to print a skin for my sphero... Thanks MEH for the sphero, and no thanks @Jetlag for making me spend more money :P
@fargoadvice and everybody wondered why Disney bought sphero last year, they knew what was up...
@kensey Just saw this on Hackaday - someone added a magnet to their sphero and a foam 1/2 ball with another magnet - colored it to be just like BB-8 - looks awesome :P http://hackaday.com/2015/04/19/mini-bb-8-droid-made-from-a-sphero/
Security camera, knife, speaker dock, new item, repeat.
@danblondell you forgot about the fuks
@platojello They quit giving fuks a long time ago.
I second the fact that these cameras are a huge pain the as* to set up.
@brotendo64 never seen anyone censor ass like that
@brotendo64 pretty simple actually... I had each of mine up in about five minutes
@geezfools Same here, but that was for my 2nd Foscam. I think the VERY FIRST TIME you set one up, it can be confusing.
Again with the cameras...meh to the millionth power.
"FOSCAM" always make me think of Fozzie Bear

I can't attain personal fulfillment buying stuff I already own! I need the promise of something new, because this time really is going to be different.
Just like last time.
@Superjimtendo that's the experiment
@Superjimtendo All your base are belong to Meh, now re-open your wallet!
To be fair, I can understand why Meh brought these back. The last couple of times Foscams were available, they sold out. I'm sure it's worth learning if people are willing to pay $20 more for a higher quality product.
@lljk the answer seems to be "no," based on today's sales. Unless ~250 units is an acceptable benchmark... I don't know.
Oh look... its the IP cam again.
Looks like somebody must have run out of Roombas
@alacrity lmao[img][/img]
Can we rotate back to the cutting boards? Every time I wash the one I have in between cutting chicken and vegetables, I regret that two-for-tuesday I didn't bite on.

Meh: you're alright.
@platojello Yeah, I bought them and I'd still buy more if they came around again.
could i use this to spy on my grandma while she has sex?
@labellyy yes. with audio.
@platojello bought 3. gotta get all the angles!
@labellyy I would prefer if you didn't film us.......Thanks.
@platojello Two-way audio!
fyi this camera is nicer than the ones previously sold here (and nicer than recent deals at Home Depot and Adorama). it hasn't been on sale for less than $70 as a refurb according to the lord of internet deals, slickdeals.
of note, the built in SD slot is a nice feature.
@meh False

@ghazianas you're right, i misread the depot deal.
@ghazianas that Home Depot deal was amazing - wish we'd cleaned those out!
@meh Bought this for $48 at HD last week
@somf69 Too funny.
Bring back the pocket knives.
Aw, man... In for two on the assumption that H.264 will be a significant improvement over MJPEG on the previous webcams sold here.
@fargoadvice Hmm, might have to grab one and give it a try. Do you record using Blue Iris or something like that? I don't, but might want to start.
@fargoadvice Thanks for the mini review! I'll be using this with my Synology NAS so I guess it'll do.
damn, it's like you can't even give these things away
@Lotsofgoats Actually in a fuko bag it is pretty dang close
Charging $54. Upvote comment, so it's easy to find next time it's for sale.
@G1 fyi somone linked to home depot, oos, same camera NEW for $48.XX
Hmm, house got TP'd minutes before this went on sale... Viral meh marketing? If so, I shake my fist and click buy
I didn't want it for $20 when you shipped it to me by mistake... What makes you think I'd buy it now for 270% of that...???
@IBMgrunt I believe that mis-shipped camera was an Insteon and was not 720P.
Thought it was s'postabe foscam friday not foscam sunday, that just plops offa the tongue wrong.
meh
~~BWAHAHAHA! Meh kicked in the dick by Home Depot's deal of the day......
@Pufferfishy AAAAAAAND sold out. Well done, Meh!

... is today's worst copy for a meh item yet. Submeh, even.
That's it. I'm cancelling my VMP. Well, I mean, it ran out tomorrow anyhow, but... I DARE you to post something I want to buy tomorrow. DOUBLE DARE.
Is this version 1 or version 2 of this camera? Different chipsets in each, would be nice to know which is being sold. Thanks.
@wyk3d the model number lookup suggests version 2
No Georgia Red. . . for that alone, meh
Damn! Can I exchange the other one I bought for this one? I'm having real trouble setting up the tortoise cam. There are sad turtles and tortoises waiting for entertainment (and humans and dogs too! The cats don't seem to care. )
@Panegyric are you haveing problems port forwarding or something else
@communist yeah, and I'm not generally the worst when it comes to this sorta thing.
Wait, it says he was a wireless camera salesman... He was a pan-and-tilt camera salesman. As much as the consistency of a fictional character matters.
Got an email from Meh yesterday, apparently they oversold the white cameras (I bought 3). Said we could pick black ones instead, which I didn't want. Bummer had to cancel...
Ugh, Meh can't get cams right! Pay for the 9821, get the 8910. At least it wasn't a lantern. Time to email support.
9821 arrived today. Pulled hair out trying to get it to connect to wifi -- partly because router is wonky with WPS. Finally connected directly to router, then used software from http://foscam.us/tools-support.html to configure. Set up the wifi, disconnected the ethernet cable, and all is well.
