I don’t usually use chrome on mobile but I tried a few ways just for you. Same chrome version. Works fine even if I turn off desktop mode and use portrait like some sort of savage.
You could try going into settings/accessibility and set force enable zoom. Not sure it will do anything since I can’t duplicate
@unksol dude does not abide by desktop mode
tried all that and then some. but, at least i know it’s probably not my chrome version that’s mucking things up.
I can reproduce it if I go to system settings (gear icon), Display, Font size and style, and then crank it all the way up.
@cengland0 thanks. i’ve got my font size turned all the way down, so that ain’t it. i checked the rest of the accessibility settings as well, and nada.
@carl669 @cengland0 Well I can’t help you solve it, perhaps the gods in hell targeted you since you haven’t done anything about the fuck count recently?
@carl669 @cengland0 @Kidsandliz right?!?!?! What the fuck is that about?
@cengland0 @Kidsandliz @unksol honestly, life happened and i kind of forgot about the fuck count. one day, i’ll update it again.
@carl669 @cengland0 @Kidsandliz
I hope it was good? It’s nice sometimes when life just happens.
@cengland0 @Kidsandliz @unksol mostly good, some bad. didn’t realize it’s been almost 2 years since i updated it.
@carl669 @cengland0 @Kidsandliz
@unksol - you saw this, right?

@carl669 @cengland0 @Kidsandliz @Kyeh
Yes I saw that and may be a little jealous.
But. Realistically. And technically. I would expect that to have raised the fuck counter a few notches. Just. Statistically
@carl669 @cengland0 @Kidsandliz idk if you heard, but there were a lot of fucks the last two years lol. It was like… A thing…
Okay, have another way to reproduce it. Don’t know how many meh users are on Windows 11 but it has the ability to run android software. I tested chrome on it and loaded up the meh forums and it does the same thing as your example.
Now the big question is if I can figure out a workaround so it doesn’t do this before I have to leave for a doctor’s appointment.
By the way, when I initially loaded up meh.com, it showed in desktop mode even though Chrome was set to not use desktop mode. I suppose meh makes the determination of which version to display to users based upon their resolution. I changed the resolution down to 720 x 1280 and it immediately showed in phone mode and not desktop mode. I’m at 240 DPI at my first screen shot example. Still going to work on this but I might not be back to report my findings until later.
Changing the DPI back to 160 makes it go back to desktop mode and fixes the problem.
I doubt you changed the DPI of your phone so I’ll look for another solution.
So you say that your phone is at 100% zoom. Does your phone allow you to go below 100% so you can “zoom out”? That seems to fix it for me. If I go to hamburger or 3-dot icon on Chrome, Settings, Accessibility, and Default Zoom. You can go below 100%. Works for me when I reduce it to 75%.
@cengland0 so i did put the zoom down to 75% and everything fits on the screen, albeit in tiny ass lettering. however, i’m still getting that weird horizontal scroll bar.
@carl669 @cengland0 horizontal scroll bar is generally due to the header fixing its width at 1024px when not in mobile rendering. edit: added this Zoom doesn’t change the reported viewport width.
@carl669 @cengland0 @mschuette so… It fixes his width but his head is too big?
@carl669 and @cengland0, your forum screenshots are both in desktop mode based on the horizontal layout of the category navigation links at the top. Not necessarily that your browser is requesting the desktop version, I understand that relies on the
User-Agentstring that browsers send with each request and ignoring the viewport meta tag. The way we style the forums depends on the reported viewport width, and yours are above 432px. @carl669’s original screenshot looks to be around 486px of content wide, which is about 135% of the S10’s default 360px viewport width.There is a developer menu on Android that lets you change the phone’s viewport width, but it is a system-wide setting and if you aren’t sure you’ve done the developer incantation (there’s a whole non-obvious sequence), then you haven’t mucked with that.
Not sure what might be causing that, but I’ll monitor this thread if anyone has additional information or ways to reproduce this - @cengland0, your Android “device” probably scales with the width of the window? I’m not sure about Windows Android support / emulation.
@mike808 had trouble with this a while back. Maybe peruse that thread, there are some good links there.
@mschuette i do have dev options turned on, but i rarely go in there, and the viewport width is still set to 360.
looking at that thread you referenced, mydevice.io says my viewport width is 449px. everything was displaying normally a couple days ago, so i’m not sure what changed. i’d futz with the dev options, but i don’t really care enough to have to switch back and forth
for now, i’ve set the zoom to 120% in chrome, and that seems to have mostly set things back to normal view
