I have laminate upstairs, but downstairs, it’s a mix of tile and old carpet that still needs to get ripped out and replaced with more tile and laminate.
I like hardwood floors when they are sealed with whatever the clear stuff is that ours are sealed with. I could use a Shark 2-in-1 Blast & Scrub Steam Pocket Mop on these bad boys if I wanted to, and it wouldn’t do any damage.

Ceramic or stone tile. With two shedding dogs, keeping floors clean is a challenge. Tile doesn’t grab the dog hair, so a quick once around with a sweeper makes it so much easier. Cleaning up spills is easy peasy, and ceramic or stone tile won’t show wear the way carpet and wood does. Steam the grout lines every few years and it’ll look good as new.
The downside? Dropping something hard on tile can easily cause chips or even fractured tiles. Everything is a trade off.
@PlacidPenguin I haven’t seen any snakes, but my white ceramic tile has made it easier to spot a few scorpions and several geckos. Although the dogs usually let me know long before I see them.
I like walking on carpet because it is quieter, warmer, and softer, but when there’s a mess I would rather have hardwood or tile.
@katbyter I know what you mean…
They each have their pros and cons.

(SoCal, so “cold” floors aren’t a huge issue.)

Clean
Cement is good, and grass is better than dirt.

@shahnm You would want something non-porous, so sheet vinyl, I guess.

@ruouttaurmind
Plus, I suppose you can spot your snakes a bit quicker.

@ruouttaurmind
Don’t even get me started on geckos.
Kitchen/Bath: tile
Bedroom: carpet
Everywhere else: wood
Boxes of junk. As a hoarder no one can see the floor.
I love it when the carpet matches the drapes…
@somf69 I prefer a hard floor and long curtains.
Cork
I prefer my floors made of lava.
@TheCO2 That’s some mighty good fire resistant sofa and ottoman!
@TheCO2
@narfcake only the best, heat resistant furniture.

@bayportbob sounds like a challenge

Hard, sealed floors with a drain in every room. Then you can clean your whole house with a pressure washer.
