@jmhsrv I bought one on MorningSave. It works great honestly. Able to delivery intense percussion massages and holds a charge well. The one button control is kinda cumbersome, but it gets the job done.
Is this in any way comparable to the Theragun or Hypervolt? I find so many of these cheapy massagers to be complete pieces of crap. Looking forward to your feedback thank you community at large.
@connorbush The only comparison is that it looks similar to the hypervolt. Those two devices are superior is every way and worth the money if you’re serious about using the device regularly. If you might pull it out once or twice a year, 29 is an excellent entry point, it might even work the second time.
While the pressure needed to stall would be good info to have, for $30 I guess you can’t expect a whole lot.
I’ve gotta admit I’ve been pretty happy with the one we got for $60 from Costco. The price on this has me tempted to get one to give as a gift or to loan out…
@awk@jaimelobo@tweezak@venussuz
No way!! Don’t cut those long locs, good taste never goes out of style, my guy will have long hair until it falls out and he goes bald!!
@JT954 It might offer temporary relief, but you really need to stretch the foot to resolve plantar fasciitis. I’ve had it pretty bad in the past and wearing a boot at night completely resolved it for me. It’s a little awkward sleeping but once you get used to it, it’s a miracle worker. Something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Alpha-Medical-Plantar-Fascitis-Splint/dp/B06WRP2Q7D
BEFORE I wore the boot to bed I had to crawl to the bathroom when I woke up in the morning. NO JOKE. EXTREME PAIN.
AFTER only one night with the boot I got out of bed and walked to the bathroom with NO PAIN AT ALL. Like a miracle.
I also faithfully performed all the stretching and other exercises my physician prescribed. I assume if you want to be able to discontinue using the boot it may (probably) is necessary to correct the problem through the therapies.
If you want to save a trip to a doctor I imagine there is plenty of advice online with the appropriate exercises. Not rocket science. But science. Easy. Ten to fifteen minutes of exercises three times a day. No special equipment required for the exercises: Just a towel.
All very SFW, and about the only thing they all missed was that when you are doing the wall stretches- after you stretch with your back knee straight for 20-30 seconds [the minimum to overcome the protective reflex muscle contraction], without moving otherwise [especially w/o lifting your heel] slowly bend your back knee- you will feel the stretch move down into your achilles tendon- hold for another 20-30 seconds- …and bam- one rep done.
It takes time, but they do get better.
I just stopped wearing heel pads a couple of months ago- after doing the exercises religiously for about 10 months.
Of course, I had heel pain off and on for about a decade before I decided to really get serious with the exercise and [hopefully] get it gone once and for all.
@JT954 Not everyone does but I got relief from Good Feet arch supports. They aren’t cheap but going from being in horrible pain every time I stood up to completely pain free in minutes was well worth it for me.
@flynnski@mehgrl@mike808 I’m sure that is some people’s idea if a good time…
Well, maybe not so much the sad part- but for $29, how sad are you really gonna be?
@mehgrl@mike808@PhysAssist well let me put it this way. The aforementioned wand is GREAT esp with a dimmer switch. Accept no substitutes.
This, however, is a near-literal jackhammer for your muscles. It doesn’t vibrate, it punches at dozens of … Punches? Per second. Phenomenal for muscle soreness. Less good for the other thing unless you want a robot to punch you in the unmentionables at blinding speed.
Which, hey, if that’s you, more power to ya. Not here to kink shame. But…ow.

@mike808@syllable@ThunderChicken@Trinityscrew Does the kit come with one of those tall hats? I always called them high hats growing up. My buddy Tom, who always liked to make a splash, had one. He was a strange, off beat guy - always lying down on the floor, which is where got his nickname “Floor Tom”.
@mike808@syllable@ThunderChicken@Trinityscrew I think I can stick it out (I know stick was already used - pun cred to Thunderchicken) and fill a little more time. Someone once told me that puns are the highest form of wit but the lowest form of humor. I personally believe it to be a cymbal of one’s sexual prowess.

Get a couple of thicker one liter water bottles or even Gatorade type bottles. Empty some water ( so it won’t expand and crack) and freeze one. Fill the other with hot water. Can use both on the floor to roll your foot over. For most people, heat helps more. Have to try and see what works for you.
Walk barefoot on hot sand if you’re in a climate with hot sand available
@bookerttt Also, make sure you take the time to stretch your calves and hamstrings. There’s a YouTube channel called Athlean-X and he shows a good stretch for it.
Quantum is the most misused word in the English language right up there with evolution. I wouldn’t buy anything that was factually described as quantum.
That being said, what is the purpose of massage? Is an appliance like this capable of fulfilling any of those rolls? Never use something like this on a physically injured muscle, it will cause further damage.
@Dog19026 Great point about avoiding injured muscle. If you have lactic acid from yesterday’s workout, or you’ve worked out and want to prevent soreness the next day, it helps. Also good for muscle spasms (not full-on cramps).
Been wanting to try one of these out, in for one

I haven’t read through all the comments here but I got one similar to this for a similar price. I got it from Meh or Morningsave or some other deal site that sells mostly crappy stuff for cheap.
I was unsure if a gun massager at this price would be as good as the ones that cost hundreds of dollars. I still have no idea because I would never spend hundreds of dollars on something like this but I am not disappointed with what I got. Mine has a few speeds and it’s all you need (the ones with 20 or so speeds are ridiculous). I haven’t used it in a while but I recall my biggest gripe was that you have to cycle through all the speeds to get to the one you want. And I think there is an issue with storage of the attachments that annoyed me. Maybe also there is no battery level indicator. I’m not motivated enough to help you guys that I’m willing to pull it out, just going off my memory. But all are minor issues for a product that is a fraction of the price of others.
@uscpsycho You hit the points that I was concerned about also. But you got a better deal. They had been selling it on mehathron for 33 and on morning save for their regular price of 39 which is what I paid less VMP discount. Think for 29 it was a pretty sweet deal considering all the pricey ones out there.
Don’t know where to post this but I just opened my Frass scarf, because it got cold, and was impressed. It’s huge and well made and everything. I want some more at meh price.
@Odorous I bought one of the scarves midyear as a Christmas gift for my grown daughter. Unfortunately the wrong color was sent but it’s not a big deal. I am glad to know you like yours.

Running perfectly right up until the point that it just abruptly cuts off is a characteristic of a protected lithium battery. A great many such devices use 18650 cells, but the only way to find out is to open it up. Most such cells are welded to the connections rather than soldered or snapped into a holder. But the welders to do the spot welding of the tabs are fairly cheap, if you don’t mind something that’s really really crude.
@G1 The battery circuit most likely is cutting power once the batteries go below a specified voltage, which is done to protect the batteries from damage. As werehatrack above me says, opening it up to see what type of batteries it contains will help. 18650 battery cells are plentiful and not very expensive; the hardest part will be soldering in new ones, but it is doable.
I have a bunch of unprotected 18650’s with tabs on them, and a few self-protected button tops.
I assume that the percussor has a charging board in it, like a TP4056 or similar, for charging control.
Does anyone know Li-ion tech enough to tell me if I can jam some unprotected 18650’s into a device with a charge controller in it?
What happens if you put PROTECTED 18650s into a device with a charging/protection board? Do the batts and controller just race to see who gets to shut the stuff off first?
I bought the unprotected 18650s to repair a cutter that worked really well, but the battery died. I soldered the tabs to the charge control brd, verified voltages, 3.7V on batt, around 4.2V when charging. Boring story short, control brd did not control and things got melty after a few hours. Charging new monstrosities in a metal bucket filled with gravel suddenly did not seem like paranoia any longer. Almost made me feel smart.
Seems like charging brd didn’t like something or was also a broke part (original batt wouldn’t charge with an external charger, so it WAS dead).
Bottom line, a percussion massager with heat might sound nice, but I DO NOT WANT.
@G1@werehatrack Nickel metal hydride batteries are out of use in most consumer electronics by this time, which is sometimes unfortunate. As for protection circuitry, I’d avoid using unprotected cells whenever possible, for exactly the reasons you mentioned toward the bottom of your last reply…or worse! Lithium ion batteries are very violent things when angered.
@PooltoyWolf@werehatrack But that’s what the charging boards are for, right? Protection from over-charging, charging when Vbatt is too low (that’s when thermal runaway happens), temperature (when the batts are equipped with temp varistors), etc.
@G1@werehatrack I tend to go with protected cells anyway, just in case the device doesn’t have onboard protection. (Only in cases where protected cells won’t physically fit do I use unprotected ones.)

anyone know anything about this
@jmhsrv Yeah they’ve been trying to get rid of them for a whole-ass year. Wait, you mean about the product??
@jmhsrv I bought one on MorningSave. It works great honestly. Able to delivery intense percussion massages and holds a charge well. The one button control is kinda cumbersome, but it gets the job done.
Are these any good? I see others selling for $100+. What’s the difference?
@jsh139 Quality, battery size, motor strength, number of speeds it’s capable of, etc. I bought this one when it was offered here and I really like that it offers 20 speeds. I’m not sure 6 offers enough variation. Seems like you’d go from soft to jackhammer pretty quickly. But… if you want to give one a try, $29 is pretty cheap. Though if you really want to take your chances, you can’t get any cheaper than this one with seemingly similar specs for $12.99 + shipping: https://www.ecboo.com/myofascial-physiotherapy-instrument-mute-fascia-gun-massage-gun-electric-warp-film-impact-relax-gun-deep-vibration-massager

@JT954 It might offer temporary relief, but you really need to stretch the foot to resolve plantar fasciitis. Seems like charging brd didn’t like something or was also a broke part (original batt wouldn’t charge with an external charger, so it WAS dead).
Bottom line, a percussion massager with heat might sound nice, but I DO NOT WANT.
@G1 @werehatrack Nickel metal hydride batteries are out of use in most consumer electronics by this time, which is sometimes unfortunate. As for protection circuitry, I’d avoid using unprotected cells whenever possible, for exactly the reasons you mentioned toward the bottom of your last reply…or worse! Lithium ion batteries are very violent things when angered.
@PooltoyWolf @werehatrack But that’s what the charging boards are for, right? Protection from over-charging, charging when Vbatt is too low (that’s when thermal runaway happens), temperature (when the batts are equipped with temp varistors), etc.
@G1 @werehatrack I tend to go with protected cells anyway, just in case the device doesn’t have onboard protection. (Only in cases where protected cells won’t physically fit do I use unprotected ones.)
