Do you want to pay 20 bucks (15 with VMP) for shipping? UPS and FedEx can take a flying fuck in my book. Is there any reason Meh can't just use straight USPS?
@rob55431 6 weeks sounds crazy to me so I looked into it.
Looks like you ordered a thing on 12/2/2014 and we shipped it on 12/3/2014 using FedEx SmartPost. It was delivered to USPS by FedEx at 12/13/2014 9:55am. Then USPS delivered it to you the same day, 12/13/2014 at 1:26pm.
So 10 calendar days total. 8 business days with a Saturday delivery during holiday time.
How'd you calculate 6 weeks? Maybe we're talking about a different account with a different order that you placed?
@shawn First of all yes, it said it was "delivered" on 12/13/14, it wasn't. It was returned to their USPS office and was "misplaced" until they magically "found it" yesterday.. .
Ok, so it wasn't exactly 6 weeks. That was an exaggeration. It was a holiday gift that wasn't delivered for Christmas.
So now I have to pay to have it sent to the people it was intended for.
No wonder the USPS is so in debt, they couldn't find their ass with both hands, a road map & instructions...
@rob55431 Well, shit. Sorry to hear about this. Sounds like in this case the USPS forgot to put the "smart" in SmartPost. I refunded your $5 shipping charge for this order and I added a two month VMP (https://mediocre.com/vmp) credit to your account. If you ever want to try to order from us again, sign up for VMP and you'll have two months of free shipping.
@cengland0 Actually...no. That was evil and diabolical. A ruse. A ploy, A stratagem, a vile scheme, trick! Subterfuge; intended to deceive hapless simpletons (like you) into buying more stuff almost robotically while systematically breaking down their logic skills and addicting them to the NEFARIOUS VMP PROGRAM OHTHEHUMANITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not sure how this is Meh's or FedEx's fault. Seems like issues with the local post office. I for one don't mind Smartpost or Surepost my PO brings me the packages same day as they get them, even if they end up making a second trip later in the day.
FedEx SmartPost consolidates their shipments at the local FedEx facility until the trailer is full, then the packages move. UPS SurePost induces their shipments directly into the Ground network, which delivers the shipment to the local USPS directly. It is UPS Ground plus one day, much faster than SmartPost on average and for around the same price on the shipper's end if a good deal is negotiated.
I agree though. I ordered the Fukubukuro 3 on 11/14 delivered 11/29. Now I know we had some weather issues but it took FedEx 8 days to get it one state over. During the 8 days I ordered a bunch of stuff from Amazon and even 13 deals which ships SUPER slow and they were delivered UPS before Fukubukuro 3. They said the weather was cleared 3 days after all the snow melted. Now I always add 2-3 to the estimate delivery date as still they miss the target dates almost every time. We can remain friends Meh, just with you'd stop hanging out with that dbag smartpost.
@StrangerDanger Fukubukuros take longer to ship than our standard orders, so that's partially our fault. Plus...we're a startup. We don't have the fulfillment centers or distribution networks of Amazon.
@Thumperchick It's funny how the "Free Shipping" dichotomy has made us all think shipping is free. I ship an average of 1 package per day from my small hobby business. My average expense is $7.27 via USPS. If international the cost goes WAY up. I try to be very open with my customers about the actual cost and how they are paying for the actual items etc...can't get cheap shipping and get it fast without subsidizing it somehow. When I want something fast I realize the price will be higher as well.
@tightwad I'm all too aware of this at work- one of my vendors at work is probably the only place I deal with that hasn't absorbed shipping costs into items, and so I am very much aware of how much it costs to ship even the smallest thing.
@StrangerDanger Unfortunately, my experience with UPS has been abysmal. Every shipping company has negative points, most of which change depending on where you are.

@WINTERMUTE meh gets a bigger discount though smart post than USPS.

I'm with @munboy. Smartpost often beats "pure" UPS or FedEx picked up the same day here in Chicago. Move here, @rob55431.

Do you want it cheap, or do you want it fast? I'll take cheap. When I want fast, I shop Amazon - and pay more for that service.

@Thumperchick Fedex smart post disappoints time and time again. UPS inovations not my favorate way to ship but it would still kick fedex's ass.
@StrangerDanger Unfortunately, my experience with UPS has been abysmal. Every shipping company has negative points, most of which change depending on where you are.
@tightwad I'm pretty sure large companies shipping a large amount of items get a better deal than what you get as a consumer or small business.
