If I have to travel, I’ll do it by car and alone. I HATE traveling though. I get anxious and disoriented really easily when I’m not in my home area. I literally can’t tell north from south and if the sun didn’t set in the east I wouldn’t know east from west. I loose my appetite and don’t sleep well. I wouldn’t inflict myself on others while traveling.
I would say motorcycle but I’m past that now. I’m not a big guy so flying isn’t uncomfortable for me. I’m still fairly new to air travel so the novelty hasn’t worn out yet. I’ve really enjoyed the air trips I’ve had enough that even the logistics at the airports don’t bother me yet.
@blaineg I have a medical condition that makes it dangerous. I was stupid to do it in the first place.
Also, with everybody driving phones these days it’s just too sketchy.
All/any of the above. I LOVE to travel.
If i didn’t have to watch Mom I’d be in Greece with my wife right now… Instead she’s with her sister and I’m left “keeping the home fires burning”.
@Star2236@Kyeh
Yep, They did Crete and now Santorini. Headed for a couple of days in Athens on the way back home next week. SWMBO and I have been to Greece and some of the islands together, but not those two. Definitely on my bucket list.
Road trip solo within the state and airplane anywhere else. Air travel was the best time for me to go through my magazine backlog and catch up on streaming (predownloaded) shows. Plus free drinks so never a boring experience.
My wife and I are on a road trip right now (first since pre-Covid) - NW Oregon to Colorado to visit our daughter. About 3000 miles of driving, give or take, round trip. We are about 1/2 way through and so far, so good.
We flew to the Bay Area to visit our son last May, and we all got Covid. Hopefully this trip will turn out better.
The best way to travel is with/through a book. Curl up on my own sofa, eating food that doesn’t disagree with me, and when I’m done reading about strange lands, I can sleep in my own bed. Perfect.
Air is best for long distance, although my road trip to Savannah, Florida, through Georgia and back home was the best trip I’ve ever taken. I WILL NOT do road trips with my family anymore, last time I lasted 2 days before I flew home. I’m supposed to drive down to Florida with my friend in a couple weeks to take his car down so that should be fun.
Any place to which I’ve never been. Then try to “go native” as much as possible so as to actually experience the area. Local foods, shop in farmer’s markets and cook, AirBNB place, any local festival, walk a lot, local transportation, etc. Best festivals so far have been Lemon Festival in Menton, France and a Greek Church Festival with dancing, authentic food in Miami.
Train.
@yakkoTDI That was one of the original options.
Star Trek style transporter.
@cengland0
don’t get to go many places, do you?
@chienfou nope. I hate all travel. I prefer to stay at home and go nowhere.

Apparently I need to go to bed as the sun sets in the west. Duh.
Tardis
@xobzoo Don’t get out much either?
Telikenesis.
“The supposed inducement of movement of an object by mental or spiritual power.”
That’s how I walk. I’m now trying to scale it up some.
@phendrick Telekinesis!
I usually spell better than I type.
@phendrick
Like something at a distance? Not sure what to do with the nesis part though.
Road trip with friend, singular.
Walk
Our bus driver takes us on incredible
adventures. We’ve been underwater, on top of mountains, we even went to space!
We get dizzy sometimes, traveling so far, but the driver’s friend gives us special pills to keep us safe.
@mcanavino Do you call your bus driver Miss Frizzle?

Say it isn’t so!

This is what I’m missing evidently… Sigh…
@chienfou I hope you’ll go back together when you’re finally able to!
@chienfou
Dam what a sunset too

Nice! I hope you can do that soon!

Wormhole.
I love cruises, but I didn’t make the connection when I saw “boat.”
Time machine
@sicc574 Been there, done that

@Chakolate so, you like traveling through other people’s minds. I can second that, though I take much shorter trips these days.

Motorcycle. The best road trips are “that-a-way, sometimeish” rather than a strict itinerary.
