I think I’d say bell peppers 'cause I cook with them the most. But I do love me lots of salsa and chipotle sauce and stuff. So jalapeños get used a lot too.
@FightingMongoos
in the past I have grown jalapenos specifically for :
pico de gallo
pepper jelly (for the smoked cream cheese)
stuffed peppers (aka poppers)
pickling
general cooking
and to put in the smoker to make chipotles.
I have several pecan trees so lots of appropriate wood to smoke them with…
Growing up in South Florida, the Caribbean flavors were everywhere, scotch bonnet and habanero in everything. Then I had a Thai neighbor who grew her own tiny peppers, so incorporated them into my diet. Indian co-workers gave me some interesting flavors. So, just about any hot pepper is great.
Where’s the “None of the above” option? I don’t like spicy food (more like I can’t bear to eat it), and I hate the taste of bell peppers. I didn’t even like having to smell them when I rang them up in my days as a grocery store cashier.
Best flavour: Poblano.
One I cook with most: Bell
Favourite readily available at my grocery store for adding heat/flavour: Serrano.
Best Dr. Pepper rip off: Dr. Bob (poor rip off name makes me laugh)
Really though, it’s like asking “what’s your favourite onion”? It depends what I’m making.
Unfortunately, I’m that basic b*tch who can’t handle spice. Big Red chewing gum is too much for me. I hate it because there are so many things I would love to try but spice kills me.
They don’t add much heat to the dish… (Compared to most hot peppers).
But they sure add a lot of heat to your eyes if you touch your eyes after cutting them.
I don’t know why, maybe because you have to cut more of them to add heat, but I only ever seem to not be able to wash off jalapenos from my hands before touching my eyes.
@OnionSoup I once made something with jalapeños and I guess I didn’t wash the pepper juice off my hands well enough because when I got up the next morning, my palms were red and felt like they’d been scalded. It lasted most of the day. I didn’t know peppers could do that. It’s one more reason I don’t like peppers.
Chipotle!
@yakkoTDI
so…Jalapeño
@yakkoTDI Those are smoke-dried jalapeños…
@FightingMongoos
yep, that’s the point!
@chienfou @FightingMongoos I am aware that they start out as jalapeños but they taste so much better.
Habenaro is my jam
@show_the_maw Like this?
Sweet bell peppers.
I’m not a fan of spicy foods.
@remo28 I used to be an over the top pepper head. But then one fine day, I over did it, with oak leaf cluster and filigee.
Now I have a lower GI allergy to hot green peppers. All pain. Horrible, horrible pain. Hurts. Hurts. Agony. Agony.
Now I eschew completely, those which I once chewed freely.
A favorite breakfast was eggs poblano a la Jacques Pepin (look it up on YouTube.) But now…Nevermore! Nevermore!
I still love 'em; but they sure don’t love me.
Scotch Bonnet. Pure yellow scotch bonnet sauce on fish is delish.
Potts.
@phendrick
But maybe not so much, Paltrow, who might be more like Pepper Flakes.
Poblano.
Hatch
@brainmist Pueblo!
@brainmist @Kyeh Did not know about Pueblo.

@brainmist @pmarin I like them both, but felt like I should stick up for my state’s version.
Here’s a more Colorado-centric take on it:

@Kyeh @pmarin Whew, I think that’d be too hot for me!
Stuffed.
Black.
I would say Doctor, but I don’t like that either
/giphy Dr. Pepper
Bell peppers. I like ringing them.

I never met a pepper I didn’t like. Though, some of them are more difficult to get along with than others.
I want more Chile Pequin in my life. But in the poll Jalapeno is a good all around player and always available, so it can have my vote.
the crowd dispersal kind
Dr.
Doctor and Sergeant
@sjk3 I’m with you on the second one.

@lisagd, “something else” would be your “nine of the above” option. Surely you like bell or doctor or sweet. Right?
@kittykat9180 Nope, none of them. Can’t stand the taste of peppers.
Best flavour: Poblano.

Favourite readily available at my grocery store for adding heat/flavour: Serrano.

Oh and worst pepper ever: banana pepper.
Do. Not. Like. Pepper. As I don’t like anything hot spicy.
@Kidsandliz what about Bell Peppers, they don’t have any spice.
@OnionSoup I have had something not spicy in things that were red or green and resembled peppers but not sure what it was since I wasn’t the cook.
@OnionSoup About one Bell pepper in 1000 has a heat level approaching or equal to a typical jalapeno. It’s a thing that can happen.
NONE!
Red and yellow Bell for most things, poblano for some, jalapeno rarely, seldom any others. Green Bell peppers are ick.
Unfortunately, I’m that basic b*tch who can’t handle spice. Big Red chewing gum is too much for me. I hate it because there are so many things I would love to try but spice kills me.
Shishito, but that wasn’t an option.
@ahacksaw
sure it was:

Dr. Pepper.
Padrón and shishitos. I like pepper roulette.
Rodgers.
Pequin.
