@sammydog01@Targaryen I don’t think Snoopy fights the Red Baron in “A Charlie Brown Christmas”. There is a lengthy Snoopy/Red Baron sequence in “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and in the 2105 Peanuts movie.
Somewhat ironically, there were multiple songs by the band The Royal Guardsmen that pitted Snoopy against the Red Baron, and “Snoopy’s Christmas” is the one that the most people remember, despite the fact that the original “Snoopy vs. The Red Baron” made it to #2 in the Billboard charts in 1966.
@DrWorm@sammydog01@Targaryen I had a 45 of “Snoopy vs. The Red Baron” when I was a kid, might even still have it stashed away somewhere. Also, one of the follow-up “The Return Of The Red Baron”.
@sammydog01 yes, this. Hallmark did an ornament several years ago that I cherish. It is the Linus meaning of Christmas scene. Makes me smile every time someone hits the button.
@sammydog01 After one particular hellish November and start of December a few years ago, this the best effort I could mount for celebrating Christmas. Thank goodness my family understood and was completely ok with it.
@j37hr0@Targaryen I think saw where Apple TV negotiated an exclusivity agreement so you can’t see any of the specials on TV anymore. I know that’s true for the Christmas special.
I had Arbor day on VHS, still might. They stopped showing the more obscure Peanuts specials in the nineties. With the proliferation of cable TV they were probably seen as too quaint. The arbor day one is really good though.
it would be an awfully sad commentary on commercialism
It’s just like Lucy said:
“Look, Charlie, let’s face it. We all know that Christmas is a big commercial racket. It’s run by a big eastern syndicate, you know.”
I really did not like the Peanuts cartoon. However, I do remember we had Snoopy Come Home recorded on VHS that my aunt had sent us and I know I watched it more than once. I’m not sure why though because I didn’t particularly like it.
I like the Great Pumpkin episode. Snoopy steals the show.
@Targaryen Which one had him fighting the Red Baron? I don’t remember.
@sammydog01 All of them it felt like. Great Pumpkin and the Christmas one for sure.

@DrWorm @sammydog01 Ah, I was thinking of the song I hear every Christmas so I figured he did the same in the Christmas movie.

A Charlie Brown Christmas is still the best. That sad little tree.
Yeah, Christmas is my second favorite and the soundtrack is great.

@sammydog01 My mom used to pick trees like that until we stopped letting her pick trees by herself.

@LaVikinga It’s perfect. I hope things got better for you.
@sammydog01 They did!

It’s Arbor Day, Charlie Brown
@j37hr0 Do they even show the others anymore? I haven’t had TV for years.

So, this comment rules. @mehcuda67

I refuse to pick a single favorite, but Thankgsiving, Christmas and the Great Pumpkin are important parts of my personal mythos.
That time my awful cousin ate one and started to have an alergic…
Wait… We are talking about a different things… Right?
and let’s not forget
I forgot this one
I knew I had a boxes set of Peanuts holiday dvds and went to look for them. It has Christmas, Thanksgiving, and the Great Pumpkin.
On an unrelated note I found these. I’ll be taking a break from netflix for a bit.
@sammydog01 You Sir have refined taste in Television. Hope you enjoy your trip down nostalgia lane.
