“I’ll take dead aim at politics as usual.” Like with a gun? This imagery sends mixed messages.
Also, it took him at least 5 shots to hit that Tannerite target. Not very “dead” aim for a Navy Seal. Then he continues to shoot after it blows up. I guess it wouldn’t be as exciting if he had only taken one shot…
My takeaway: He states he’s not a politician, so he’s probably not really qualified. He doesn’t really mention how he’d do things differently, just that he would. Sure, he may have an outsider’s view, but you kinda have to know how things work to get anything done. He’s also not terribly accurate. Might have the approach of shoot enough ideas down range and maybe something will hit the target. I don’t know…I guess I need to know more about the guy. Some actual substance not just: pew pew pew boom! I like shooting stuff as much as the next guy, but I don’t claim that it will help me be a good politician.
@medz
Since I don’t live in Mizzou, and the politicians there cannot be more stupid, venal, and “for sale” that the ones here, I choose to enjoy the vid as a cultural commentary on modern times. In fact it would make a great film trailer. I’d see that movie.
One could think, perhaps, better a movie than an elected politician? But I don’t know the guy. Perhaps he would be an obstructionist show-off, or a know-nothing. Or perhaps competent, within his philosophy, or perhaps even gifted.
The “not great shooting” for a Navy Seal does bother me a bit (I wouldn’t be capable of drawing conclusions about that), but I still covet his gun safe.
@f00l It is tough to tell how far away he is and how big the target is. “Dead aim”, however, implies precision. Unloading a magazine (not really) on a target that blows up with one shot isn’t very precise. I’m just poking holes in the whole targeting politics as usual analogy. That target could be the size of your average dollop of sour cream 100 yards away, so he may be plenty precise. Just a knee-jerk observation.
@DrunkCat Well, you make a post with no context. How else should I take it?! I blame

Had I known your intent, my original post would have been:
LOL! This guy seems a pretty cool dude. s rule! I wouldn’t mind blowing stuff up and having a beer with him.
He might have won as a result of what he’s compared to. And he’s a newbie, so he might be better than expected. (It’s possible, all right? Theoretically?) Some of them whom you might disagree with or find embarrassing might be ok.
And then I remember this election season. OK, some of them you might find embarrassing or disagree with might be exactly what you think they are, or worse.

OK, forget the above. Just don’t be embarrassed, because, waste of life energy.
I will drive to Mizz and find a way to vote for him if I can have my pick of his firearms closet when I leave.
If only he was a presidential candidate, I’d have someone to vote for!

@medz You took this a lot more seriously than intended.

@medz I wanted to craft some sort of pun or witticism involving aiming or explosions but the title honestly does the job already.
@DrunkCat Let us know if he wins, OK?
@sammydog01
He won the Republican primary for governor. So embarrassed to live in Missouri this week
@rm9116
Don’t be embarrassed. It’s everywhere.

@rm9116 Why though? Did he do something stupid already?
@DrunkCat Did you not watch the commercial he made?
@sammydog01 It was amusing. I’m voting for Jill Stein for similar reasons.
