Edge with Chromium
3Hi,
How are you?
For anyone who has tried Edge with Chromium, do you like it?
If you are, do you know how to get rid of the “search with Bing” on the startup page? Seems to remain there even after changing default search engine.

I just installed it and am posting this using my phone. I opened a new tab, and this is what it looks like:

So far, it seems to work.
I don’t see a “search with Bing” thing.
Hope this helps
@eonfifty
Have been using it for a bit on phone.
Works fine.
Secondary browser to Firefox currently.
I like safari ok but hardly ever use it.
@f00l I have Firefox but don’t like it. I installed it when chrome prevented me from taking screenshots based on the viewed site’s settings.
As of now, since I’m logged in to meh.com, I see no reason to use chrome anymore. Everything else I use that requires a login is app based.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@eonfifty
Chrome and it’s “spying eyes” is on the phone.
Every so often I open it, see what tabs I have, and get rid of a few more of them.
I’m going to remove it from my life at some point.
I wish phone browsers would give us the ability to whitelist a few site’s cookies (such as mediocre/meh), and auto-erase the rest.
@f00l I wish all browsers would do that. I’m sick of remembering (or forgetting) passwords for stuff that so totally doesn’t need to be password protected.
I almost always use private browsing for any browsing just because I don’t want to spend 15 minutes every so often deleting cached stuff, but I’m getting old and have been clicking links on various browsers’ start up screens, and all that stuff opens in non-private tabs. And yes, of course, I can open those links in private tabs, but that’s like, annoying, and an inconvenience. It’s like, “How much info do you really need?”

@eonfifty thanks! Do you know how to get rid of this:
?
I don’t mind it but I’d prefer to search with duckduckgo instead of bing. If you do the search it will do it with bing.
@elimanningface On the mobile version, there’s an option to choose a default search engine, and duckduckgo is an option.
@eonfifty I got that far. When you search in the address bar - not a problem, it’s just the search from the launch page, always goes to Bing. That’s annoying!
@elimanningface That’s weird. When I changed the default to duckduckgo, my start page search used duckduckgo.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@elimanningface I have discovered that media playing in a browser window will stop if the display turns off. I haven’t found any setting related to that yet.
@eonfifty thank you! Maybe it’s an issue w/ the Windows version of the browser.
@eonfifty @f00l
no… it looks more like “teabagging a pussy”

Been using Edge on Windows 10. It does this thing a lot where it stops redrawing the entire window, or I’ll try to resize the window, and it’ll doesn’t resize correctly. Can’t say I’m a fan.
Not really into “syncing” things through third parties when I don’t have to, either (which I guess is the main value proposition of Edge on mobile?).
I try to do most of my browsing on Firefox with uMatrix (and some other stuff) running, have it set up to disable everything including first-party images and CSS by default. The only annoying part is those social site vector icons seem to come with the HTML, take up the full width of the page without CSS applied… I could probably filter those out pretty easily though, come to think of it…
Anyways, I hate not having that setup available on my phone. The web’s a real shithole these days. It’s vastly improved by aggressive blocking, of almost everything.
