Although it wouldn’t be betraying Home, since I haven’t gotten myself one yet. The closest I got to is Assistant, but only in Allo (my 5X isn’t rooted, so I don’t have it on my phone).
I’d ask for a T-shirt concerning a shy cat, but that’s an oxymoron.
@Pantheist As it’s available in the catalog, the artist very most likely signed under a “D-contract” – so no, it won’t be available anywhere else. Previously, under a “C-contract”, designs would revert back to the artist after one year.
Few artists took their designs elsewhere after the rights reverted back, however. Ocho’s Slow Morning was the first; it reprinted at TeeTurtle one day after the contract expired.
I believe the last artist to have signed a design under a “C-contract” was RamyB – which by then, I think he already abandoned the idea of being a doctor because apparently, drawing bunnies all day was more lucrative.
That design was also a STFU moment for his critics too – including me – quelling the notion that the ballot boxes are stuffed. It’s not a “cutesy” design and it was 30th place in the double-take derby; it was printed via an Editor’s Choice. Not only did it manage to outsell all the others from that derby but the three designs in its original derby too. And outlived all of them for longevity in the reckoning.
It actually gets funnier with each round. “Are they going to say the same thing again? No… surely they will catch on. Some programmer with a sense of humor foresaw this and has planted an Easter egg… Nope! Hee hee…”
I have the Amazon Echo and two Amazon Dots. I picked Amazon only because it beat Google to the market.
I can ask Alexa simple questions that it responds with “I’m sorry, I don’t know how to answer that.” (Or something similar). Then I go to my phone and say, “OK google, same question” and it has an answer. Not sure if the Google home would answer the same way as OK google on my phone but if it does, I would have to say that Google home would be far superior.
Amazon Echo does have many skills so it can control all my Insteon lights and appliances. I am waiting for a good price on a logitech hub so it can control my TV and connected devices too. Not sure how Google home would handle those.
@OnionSoup Apple knows me because I use(d) an iPod. Amazon knows me from the stuff I watch and buy. Microsoft knows me because I use a Windows Phone. Google knows me because Google.
@f00l - However, the problems of two little speakers don’t amount to a jar of beans in this crazy world.
What better use for technology?
Alexa sounds so robotic.
So when does Siri and Cortana get to play in this too?
@narfcake
I still haven’t introduced myself to Cortana.
@narfcake - Remember that game “Telephone”?
@PlacidPenguin I’m pretty much the opposite – hence her recommendations of cat videos.
At least she understands Spanish names when I ask for directions or contacts.
@narfcake
I’m a bit shy.

@PlacidPenguin Shy, sly … same difference, right?

@narfcake
Good point.
@PlacidPenguin Cortana is just Clippy in drag.
@OnionSoup Nah. Clippy was NEVER helpful.
@narfcake
Clippy got plastic surgery and and finishing school over the years.
But uncertain that it helps much.
@f00l Don’t forget a sex change.
(Clippy will return in an Easter Egg. I will NOT try it. )
@narfcake is that shirt available anywhere else where pijaczaj would make money from its sale? I want it, but I won’t give woot money.
@narfcake
Clippy was one of the only things which “got” me.

He’s doing extremely well these days.

@narfcake oh well Thanks for explaining all of that anyway
I remember people being pretty divided over RamyB’s designs. Either way, I still wear this one all the time. http://shirt.woot.com/offers/lucky-at-last?ref=cnt_ctlg_dgn_21
@Pantheist Yeah – which was summed up with this artist bio:
The community is divided on Ramyb, but his shirts always cell. An artist works with what he knows..

I thought this was going to be a comparison.
Not disappointed.
I’m not sure which I want in my house less: an always on microphone to Amazon, or an always on microphone to Google.
@sanspoint
I recently was having a discussion with someone about the trade-off with regards to the trade-off between privacy and “efficiency”.
@sanspoint
An Amazon Tap is not always on. You turn it on by touching it.
@f00l I married an Amazon tap.
@OnionSoup
Oooooh.
@OnionSoup Lucky you. Many of us end up with one who always pretends to be off, regardless of what you say or do. Return policy is a bitch.
@compunaut
Ouch.
It actually gets funnier with each round. “Are they going to say the same thing again? No… surely they will catch on. Some programmer with a sense of humor foresaw this and has planted an Easter egg… Nope! Hee hee…”

One movie which never gets old for me. Watching it now.

I went with Amazon because Google already knows too much about me. Figured I’d spread the privacy invasion around.
@OnionSoup Apple knows me because I use(d) an iPod. Amazon knows me from the stuff I watch and buy. Microsoft knows me because I use a Windows Phone. Google knows me because Google.
They should have made it say to set a reminder for tomorrow with the message. Then it really would never end.
