Sounds like some of my car repairs. I still need to hoist the engine back out of my truck because the wiring harness was in the wrong place when it went in – and it’s now too short.
@narfcake you actually have to hoist it out to get to it? That would suck.
I mean I totally believe that’s a possibility. Getting to things on the back of the engine in a truck has been a bitch. Still. Considered loosening the mounts/jacking it to get the clearance? If it’s just a wiring harness how much does it need?
I will readily admit I’m used to 99 4 cylinders before this. Small engines are easy. Just getting to the spark plugs in a truck is… Some level of hell
@unksol Well, hoist it enough to clear the engine mounts. Don’t have to pull all of it out.
@Lynnerizer Actually, I do have a big box of spare parts. When I run across parts for my vehicles at stupid cheap prices, I’ll buy it. Mostly from Amazon Warehouse, though one of the side mirrors that’s on my truck now was purchased from a thrift store. It was new, unused, and at $4, was way way way less than even one from a junkyard.
@Lynnerizer@narfcake so support it enough from above but not actually pull anything out. Just unbolt the mounts/ connections so you get more room? And not bend anything left attached… Makes sense. I just play a mechanic on meh.
Stripping wallpaper. And there is no backing out once one has pulled the first strip. No painting over the remaining fuzz and glue. No outs but to finish it right.
Replacing the slide pieces in the sunroof of darned near any vehicle, particularly when the headliner partially self-destructs as you are dropping it down to get access to the mechanism.
No fight from this dog. Are we talking about marriage? Or parenthood? Or paying taxes? I’m out of my depth.
this is how i feel about some of the side projects i’ve taken on at work.

At least you aren’t dealing with a big box of extra parts!
@Lynnerizer @narfcake you mean the spairs they built in?

How’d you get Vladimir Putin’s new battle flag?
Maybe I’ll list the number of things this applies to in my personal and professional life.
I’m sure it will be easy.
Me embarking on coil replacement in my antique Johnson Iron Horse engine this winter.
