Dyson is a great vacuum, but it is definitely large and in charge. We ended up buying one of those small battery powered vacuums for daily clean up on the hardwood floors and the Dyson hardly comes out.
Keep doing this, Meh. One of these days our ancient early-gen Dyson will give up the ghost. And there's no way we're paying full price for these hunks of glorified plastic.
Bought this a couple of rounds ago. Quite happy with it. The vacuum guy on reddit maintains that bagless vacuums are worse than bagged ones, but at this price, there really isn't anything better.
As for the refurbished part: if it wasn't explicitly stated, I wouldn't have known it's refurbished. It's just about perfect.
Got the frankenstein on Dec 31 and we love it. Does what it's supposed to. Got every accessory and we've used them. Dog and cat hair gone. Ceiling fans clean. Two thumbs up here.
So I was thinking fathers got a fuku today cause I was late to the party and it was slow loading. There was a real big accident outside and I was busy watching them pull up a car from an embankment.
Last time I bought this, I sold all of the accessories that came with it on Amazon and was able to break even. Then when I sold the vacuum itself months later on Craigslist (a much harder sell) for around 180 dollars, that was all profit.
I didn't plan to sell the vacuum itself at all. But just a few days after I bought it, a Kirby salesman came by and they sold us on it when it was able to pick up the pine needles from our scotch pine Christmas tree that our dyson completely clogged up on.
@vrillusions yup, the new models are a lot lighter than the old ones I hear. It's still a good weight, but it's not substantially heavier than our Dyson was. I think it weighs 22lbs where the Dyson is 17.5
It was expensive, but hopefully it will last us longer. My MIL's vacuum repair man told her that bagless vacuums require a lot more maintenance than bagged vacuums do.
@daveJay Your repair man is wrong. I remember with the kirby the rubber belt that linked between the motor and brushes would wear down and have to be replaced. Dyson doesn't do that (has some sort of gearing mechanism in it). Also although this is admittedly a low blow the bagless ones... well... don't need bags replaced. Although a single bag last a long time.
@daveJay I used to sell vacuums door to door about 20 years ago. I loved when people had a Kirby because our vacuum was much better. I would have the customer vacuum as much as they wanted with their Kirby, then I would just sit my vacuum in one spot on the carpet without moving it at all. In just a few seconds it would suck up a bunch of sand or whatever was deep in the carpet. It was still a hard sell at $2000, but I would buy one if I were rich.
I got this one of the previous times it was on. This thing really sucks. It sucks cleaning per hair off furniture. It sucks at cleaning stairs. Everything I use it for it sucks. It sucks so much I'm constantly emptying the canister which is annoying. But at least with the quick release button I can empty it pretty quick and then it can get back to sucking.
Dyson says they're vacuum doesn't lose suction. What they don't tell you is that the suction power of their vacuum versus premium bagged vacuums (like a Kirby or Miele) is equivalent to a bagged vacuum already full of dirt. http://www.greatvacs.com/education/KirbyVsDysonVacuumReview.html
Having owned both a dyson and a shark, I can say the shark was a lot sturdier. The dyson feels like it's going to break every time I use it. The ONLY thing I like about the dyson is the pet hair attachment. It really doesn't clog. The pet attachment for the shark had to be de-haired after every use.
It really makes me wonder how often these must break for meh and other sites to have refurbished ones to sell every other week or so...millions of dollars worth and all. Dyson vacuums look cool, but I'd rather have something that works and lasts 20+ years.
@Nuke I see their commercials and they encourage you to buy it and if you're not completely satisfied, return it within 30 days. So these are probably just customer returns that cannot be sold as new and not defective ones that have been repaired.
I bought a refurb Dyson from Woot. Used it twice and gave it away. Couldn't face the karma of trying to sell it to someone else. The vacuum sucked. Or rather, didn't suck. A ridiculous plastic monstrosity that doesn't pick up much at all. Meh^100.
Love my Dyson. I have the DC25 Animal. Got the DC41 Animal (same as the one offered today) on Woot for $199 just this past April (at $20 less than this offering). If I had to do it again, I would definitely do the Frankenstein -- that accessory bundle is a great deal when added on to the price of the base vac.
But good on Dysons at the moment, Meh. Happy Father's Day.
i never received mine either! just a tiny box with accessories and the tracking number say's it's delivered. i emailed them yesterday but i never got a response.
@BacchusMaxximus@Purchase_drone You weren't specific as to which model you ordered, but I remembered reading this in the description: DC41 Animal Frankenstein Vacuum DC41 Frankenstein Accessories shipped in separate box and may deliver on different date.
@mikibell animal model. and the tracking number couldn't have specifically been for the little box with an accessory in it. the orders page says "delivered". but it's not. i got the accessory box yesterday. and nothing was delivered today. i emailed them yesterday and got no response. i'm getting pretty pissed to have spent $225 on an accessory to a something i don't have.
Well I'm glad I'm not the only one who is a bit confused and just wants to be assured that my vacuum is still on it's way. I ordered the Frankenstein and so far have only received the Total Gear kit (which by the way, averages for about $100 on various sites). Orders page should reflect what was actually shipped for multi box orders, this would really help clear up the confusion.
@KitSkyfire Okay, I'm good. Was reading various forum topics (Fuku Kickstarter and the box of meh, hehe) and one had a link to setting up Delivery Manager on Fedex.com. Shows anything being sent to my address through Fedex whether I have a tracking # or not. Fedex says it should be arriving today.
Hey everyone, just to clear things up here the vacuum's have indeed shipped. The accessories and the vacuum's shipped separately and we had an issue with the tracking numbers for the Dyson's being uploaded properly. We are working on getting that corrected but most of you should be receiving your vacuum very soon.
Same here.... Just received a small package containing an attachment and no vacuum. It's been 3 days now since the 1.2# box was delivered. No response from Meh... To which I say, "MEH" and "phfff." The FedEx tracking slip/site said it was delivered, nothing about multiple packages or plans to deliver anything else. Buller??? Butler?? So not cool.
I am concerned, as I have only received one vacuum with accessories. I would like to be assured the other two are on there way and when I might expect them? Please advise.
@mikeandtherese Hey, the best way to get a hold of someone at meh is to contact them via the support page. They work M-F, 9-5ish, so please be patient and they'll get back to you. Here's the link: https://meh.com/support

Dyson sucks very well.
Come on meh. This is the 5th time this has been up for sale. If I didn't buy it the first 4 times, what makes you think I'll buy it the 5th time?
@cengland0 meh. Maybe they need more speaker docks?

Great father's day gift...
@jml326 For next year's Father's day maybe.
Father's Week?

@Fej Apparantly the HEPA filters get pretty hammered by pet dander so it is common for people with pets to have bagless vacuums die.
Got the frankenstein on Dec 31 and we love it. Does what it's supposed to. Got every accessory and we've used them. Dog and cat hair gone. Ceiling fans clean. Two thumbs up here.
Nooice. Love my meh-dyson.
So I was thinking fathers got a fuku today cause I was late to the party and it was slow loading. There was a real big accident outside and I was busy watching them pull up a car from an embankment.
Current vacuum is starting to shit the bed a bit, color me tempted to grab this!
I've got a Dyson and a Shark. They're both good, but if I could have only one it'd be the Dyson. This is a good buy.
Last time I bought this, I sold all of the accessories that came with it on Amazon and was able to break even. Then when I sold the vacuum itself months later on Craigslist (a much harder sell) for around 180 dollars, that was all profit.

@daveJay there's still door to door salesmen? Also Kirby is still around? We had one like 25 years ago and that thing was a tank.
@vrillusions I still have my Kirby and it's was bought in the 80's.
@vrillusions yup, the new models are a lot lighter than the old ones I hear. It's still a good weight, but it's not substantially heavier than our Dyson was. I think it weighs 22lbs where the Dyson is 17.5

@daveJay we have a $1,200-1,500 Kerby power-driven that my parents bought 10+ years ago due to a similar "see what your vac is missing" demo.
It was nice (and heavy) while it worked. But something broke and the repair quote was something obscene like $500.
That Kerby now sits collecting spider nests in our up north property pole barn.
BTW, as with Cutco (kitchen knives), I've heard of clever business folks going thru their door to door sales training simply for skills improvement.

I really REALLY want one of these, but no budget for it right now... :'(

I would buy this if it were cheaper. $200+ is a lot for a refurb.
"You need this because I have a British accent"
Are they all pink?
@HiltonAugustus on the inside?
@medz That's what she said.
How about Voltage?

@Nuke 1 or two years is all I have gotten out of other cheep-o vacuums
Dysons. It really is like the reincarnation of vanilla woot.
Hey, meh -- how 'bout offering just a tools package for existing Dyson owners?
I bought a refurb Dyson from Woot. Used it twice and gave it away. Couldn't face the karma of trying to sell it to someone else. The vacuum sucked. Or rather, didn't suck. A ridiculous plastic monstrosity that doesn't pick up much at all. Meh^100.

I like my dirt in nice clean bags instead of filthy canisters.
@sammydog01 the bag manufacturers love you.
@thismyusername I love them right back.
yeah i'll get one of these when the electrolux i inherited from my grandmother dies
it's almost 30 years old and still suckin.
I love this thing. I got mine as a wedding present. My 10th anniversary was Saturday. Still sucks soooooo good.
The vacuum. On the floor. Being used for its intended purpose. You sickos.
I ordered one, box came today. It was just the accessories and no vacuum wtf
i never received mine either! just a tiny box with accessories and the tracking number say's it's delivered. i emailed them yesterday but i never got a response.

@KitSkyfire my vacuum arrived today.

@KitSkyfire And it's here. Interestingly enough, mine also came with the mini turbine tool. Wasn't expecting that.

@MEHcus Mine did show up today after some understandable confusion. Hooray! It sucks!
@rnjewl If you read the post directly above yours, you'll see that a staff member addressed this for everyone.
I am concerned, as I have only received one vacuum with accessories. I would like to be assured the other two are on there way and when I might expect them? Please advise.
