Uber drops off in Rockwall, but doesn't pick up there. Took my family of 4 out to eat and got stranded in a town that stops liquor service at 9pm. Otherwise Uber has been great. Beware Rockwall.
I'm pretty sure you'd be more upset if they refused to drive you to Rockwall on the basis that they don't also pickup there, once they start the meter, they'll take you wherever you want, completely illogical to think anything otherwise, in addition, it's never a guarantee they'll be an uber available to take you to any given location, within a location they pickup @ or not.
Am I alone in wondering how Uber became such a big buzzword in such a short period of time? Maybe it's because I don't live in a big city. It just seems like I would've heard about a small fledgling company before it became a real player in transporting folks to their destinations.
@pitamuffin i've heard too many horror stories from their ex-drivers - from drunken vomit in car to making $4/hr even during heavy demand times (bowl games, new year's eve) during which uber promised drivers $15+/hr minimum but the promise had so many loopholes that no one met the conditions even w optimal driving/availability strategy. And yeah you can get stranded. Uber works best in high-demand, hip, urban bar-hopping areas. Otherwise extreme ymmv.
@cranky1950 Pro Tip: They have those thing elsewhere too. It's must harder to find TexMex. I relocated from Texas a few years ago. I highly recommend it.
Rockwall is where I lived when I first moved to TX and I really liked it.
Granted I was living in a condo that was right on the lake and walking distance to the Harbor...
Next time just go to Weekend's and enjoy people watching trashy people being trashed. They're closed every day besides Fridays and Saturdays so you can probably just sleep there until you get a ride.
Pro Tip: next time you are in that situation, move your marker in the Uber app to a place they will pick up. When someone signals they are on the way to get you call them and tell them where you are and you'll pay extra if they'll help you out. It's worked for me evey time.
Everyone that lives there was stranded by Uber. Enjoy your new home.
@Ignorant Thats a goat worthy comment. I'm thinking you are a shoo in for March!

And Uber is a fairly terrifying name for a company, IYAM.
@gertiestn Yep, and I've already heard too many horror stories about their drivers.

Where is Rockwall?
@lumpthar is on side of cliff. Is silly question.
@PocketBrain Is funny.
@PocketBrain Well, duh.
@lumpthar I'm assuming it's the Rockwall in Texas. As most of us know, the only thing worthwhile in Texas is meh, so I'm not surprised.
@Cinoclav No No, there's brisket and mexican coke as well

@cranky1950 what about dem freedoms and things?
@cblack I forgot HEB and the coffee with the peppermint stick in it
@communist Uh freedom's just another word for nuthin left to lose
@lumpthar Texas, yes. I work across the street from Woot! and 2 city blocks from the Meh warehouse.
Haha enjoy the new life
I'm not coming to Rockwall to pick you up either.

didn't REM advise everyone not to go back to Rockwall?
