Thanks for jumping on the opportunity to start the celebration of Jimmy’s music and the life that he espoused!
In our own small way this seems like a fitting place for a tribute and acknowledgment of a man who had his hand on the pulse of the laid back beach/island culture the last 40-plus years.

@chienfou it’s an honor to get things started…what a life he had…and a positive influence on all around him, I do believe…I read one of his books many years ago…and I just finished Colin Jost’s memoir and he talks about surfing with Jimmy Buffett…such a cool, laid back guy…truly the original “the Dude” (Big Lebowski reference, I’m sure everyone here gets it)

Although I’m not into “wine”, something about these lyrics always hits me…

@chienfou Thanks for posting this again, it came up when i searched in YouTube, it’s just blocked on other sites, apparently. Great interview, too. I almost tried to sneak it in myself cuz “Come Monday” is my favorite song of his.

@chienfou Never went to one of his shows, only a casual fan. A few of my friends are/were Parrotheads though.
I do like the storytelling songs though.

I haven’t seen this video since it came out, and man did it age poorly. If you remade this today everyone would be worked up about the behavior of Michael and the cheering and pressure shown by a street full of men doesn’t help the scene.

Fun fact under the category of “small world”: Kris is married to my mother’s cousin’s daughter (my second cousin…?). I’m not really into American Idol (or any of those shows), & I’ve lost touch with that side of the family (they’re very “God squad” as my sister always used to say), but my mother was SO excited when he made it onto the show & had us all voting for him. That was the year we found out she had cancer & she didn’t make it to see the finale, but i kept voting for him. (Sorry, Adam Lambert! Lol)… So this is for you, Mom!
