Does anyone else love CamelCamelCamel?
15So this site tracks the prices of Amazon items. And hopefully we all know that Amazon prices fluctuate wildly. You can use this site to track items and be notified when they reach a price point that you would want to buy it at.
Example - I wanted a smart watch that was attractive. I did the research and wanted the LG Watch Urbane Wearable Smart Watch. But I didn’t want to pay $249.00 for it. I put in a price point of $200.00 and CamelCamelCamel notified me that it just dropped to $179.00 - sweet!
I find this site so helpful for all things Amazon.

I don’t use the notifications very much, but I do like to use it to check if something is really a deal. Slickdeals likes to post board games that are like a dollar off the average price. Sure it’s $16 off of list price, but it never sells for that price, and it goes on sale for even cheaper than the current price 2 or 3 times a year.
Learning that I would only save a buck or 2 off the average price makes it pretty easy to pass on things I’m not sure I want.
@metaphore The notifications is where it is at if you are willing to wait.
@mfladd I’ve used the notifications in the past, but half the time by the time the item is cheap enough I don’t want/need it anymore. And a few times the notification wouldn’t show up until the price had changed again, or sold out, and I missed the really good deal.
@mfladd Aren’t you always though. Willing and waiting
I liked it better when it included Newegg, but I still use it. I was going to buy a certain hard drive, but the price was higher than when I looked last. Verified with CCC that the price is indeed quite a bit above historical. So, waiting for it to come down again.
I always want to use it, but always forget to.
I use them often enough for checking items I don’t need right away. They’re a great counter to Amazon’s supply-and-demand variable pricing.
@narfcake me too - especially things that my wife and I say “we should get one of those some day”.
That’s how I bought a recent apple corer/peeler/slicer to use with my dehydrator.
@luvche21 Did you find something that works well? The one that I have, when it works, takes like 1/4" of apple along with the peel. Doing it by hand, it takes me about an hour to fill seven trays.
@walarney that’s the trade off, it was almost not worth using the dehydrator before I got one since it took so long. The one I bought doesn’t take off a quarter inch, but it does take off more than it would if I peeled them by hand. This one seems to slice them thinner than others out there, which I like. If it takes off too much peel, you can always peel them first by hand, swing back the peeling arm, then just use it to only core and slice. This is the one I bought, and it went down to $18.99 when on sale: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00JMULS0A/ref=ya_aw_oh_bia_dp?ie=UTF8&psc=1
My 2 year old liked eating the peels from this anyway, so it was worth it
I have it bookmarked but I had forgotten about it. Thanks for the reminder @mfladd!

@KDemo he ded
I set up alerts for things I don’t immediately need, usually. I also like seeing the historical prices. It’s an all-around fantastic tool. I love that site.

I should also say that I’ve found http://fakespot.com to be helpful as well. It reviews the reviews, so to speak.
@SpenceMan01 how well does that one work? And what do they rate the reviews based on? Some kind of algorithm?
@luvche21 They run them through some sort of algorithm, yeah. I’m pretty sure they use things like Vine reviews, key words and other reviews the reviewer has done to formulate their confidence levels.
Camel,Camel,Camel is certainly a lot different than Badger,Badger,Badger.
@Cheddy
@mfladd
Yes, use lots. Anything $$$ esp.
https://keepa.com/#!addon
I’ve been using this for the last 6 months or so. Keepa gives you CamelCamelCamel’s style of price tracking, but adds the info right on the Amazon pages themselves.
I miss cowboom… RIP.

camelcamelcamel toetoetoe
@TexMehx MirrorMirrorMirror…they are your friend.
I don’t think I’d use it much if not for the Chrome extension. Good shit.
The only Camel I Love is Camel Toe
Yes, I use camelcamelcamel.com too! Love the twitter feature. A lot easier to use than the “Important messages about items in your Cart:
6 items in your Saved Items have changed price.” feature
