Do you want to play a game?
2I recently attended Pensacon 2016 which had a it's usual array of guests from current and past SyFy and Fantasy/Horror movies and shows. Some of these people don't look like they did 30+ years ago. Imagine watching RHPS with Barry Bostwick, Patricia Quinn, and Nell Campbell right there with you. (Priceless!) But I defy you to recognize any of them if you met them on the street.
So here's the game. Post a picture of a celebrity. Then everyone else gets to guess who they are and what connection they have to what SyFy/Fantasy movie or TV. The winner gets to blame the Goat for not getting anything for winning.
First up:
Who are they and why are they on the stage together?

Don't have a clue. But I met my husband at RHPS 32 years ago.
Hints?
@cahuston Mohawk and buttcheeks
@Mehrocco_Mole The man kind of looks like The Boz. But I don't recall him in a syfy movie.
@cahuston Nope
@Mehrocco_Mole
They're on the stage together because they're part of the same panel. (It would be hard to do that if they were by different panels)
@FroodyFrog That would be easy to do with Photoshop. And excuse me but this is my thread and I'll be the smart ass here. Find your own gig. ;)
@Mehrocco_Mole
This one should be easier:
@Mehrocco_Mole I think he is Bruce Boxleitner. Not sure who she is. Let's go with Tron.
@cahuston Yes it is but that's not the connection.
@Mehrocco_Mole Babylon 5. That's Claudia Christian. Funny, I recognized her but not Bruce.
@sammydog01 That's the connection. See how easy this is? If @sammydog01 can get it, anyone can. ;}
@Mehrocco_Mole Aw, thanks- wait...
@Mehrocco_Mole Bill Clinton and Judy Dench!
If you get this one I would think you'd totally deserve something for it. You're also a total fan of this still current show (That's the only hint you get)
Oh all right, one more hint: They spend hours in the makeup chair.
And yes one has his back to you but if you get one you might get the other. (Damn it, another hint)
@Mehrocco_Mole gonna sleep on this one. Storms are almost over, dog is settling down.
@Mehrocco_Mole Robert Englund
@regnowsin no, but keep trying.
@Mehrocco_Mole Desmond Tutu and Vijay Singh!
@Mehrocco_Mole Here's the front of th guy on the right:
@Mehrocco_Mole
@FroodyFrog Dan Starkey is correct. It was the forehead that gave it away, right?
Now who's the other guy?
@Mehrocco_Mole
Donna noble's grandfather aka Wilfred Mott aka Bernard Cribbins.
@hollboll Good guess but nope.
@Mehrocco_Mole Is it Terry Molloy (Davros)?
@sammydog01 YES IT IS! They were here with the 5th Doctor, Peter Davison.
I'm thinking the real game here was getting you and others to pay good money to see obscure, over the hill celebrities discuss what they did thirty years ago so someone else could pay said celebrities to show up and do exactly that, when said celebrities probably can't get anyone to listen to them on a street corner for free.
@Pavlov Actually I went for the film festivals (the short stuff is great), panels on Robotics (IHMC is based here in town), and the writing workshops. The beginners 3D printing was interesting. The Celebrity panels are bonuses. As are the Cosplayers.
@Mehrocco_Mole I'm just jealous of all the money these fandom convention organizers pocket . . . As Shel Dorf was heard to say after copycat conventions started popping up (which are mostly now all extinct), "They call them 'cons' now for a reason" . . .
@Pavlov if you want a hard game like that, get a whole bunch of pictures of Sir Patrick Stewart, not movie ones that are easily identifiable, but more of out and about... then put them in chronological order... Hell I bet he'd love and play along with this game...
The only con I've been to was GenCon years ago. Did meet David Carradine. I think he was sober when he signed a DVD for me.
@cahuston Got to meet Hogan's Heroes' Bob Crane once. He was so drunk he could hardly walk. Very interesting live TV interview that one was.
Last one for tonight: If you don't get this one you have lived in a cave for the past 29 years. To make it even easier I've added a 2nd person.
Who are they and what is their connection?
@Mehrocco_Mole Worf and Tasha from Star Trek the Next Generation? (Michael Dorn, Denise Crosby)
@sammydog01 Nailed it!
And Denise Crosby more recently as Mary. (Walking Dead)
@Mehrocco_Mole Seriously... that was way too easy... almost Ted 2 however...
@Mehrocco_Mole Paris Hilton and Peyton Manning!
@Teripie Ohhhh... So close too. Hair is too long for Peyton.
That one I knew.
here's a somewhat challenge (no IMDB...) But what were they all in together?
@sohmageek
@sohmageek A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to The Forum!
@sohmageek A Doritos commercial.
@sammydog01 NEW/2016-02-03T13-19-43-2Z--1280x720.today-vid-canonical-featured-desktop.jpg">
@sohmageek I recognize John de Lancie and Wayne Knight but didn't realize they did Torchwood episodes. (they did) Not sure who she is though but I'm pretty sure @FroodyFrog is correct.
@Mehrocco_Mole 2 of them were together on another scintillating series. She is a bit of a rebel :)
@FroodyFrog you are correct. But which season? :) and what did "Q" play as. Which I find funny!
@sohmageek
Why's that funny? The whole concept of the Q Continuum is that they have surpassed the confines of time and space. Oh, I get it.
Ha.
Ha.
Ha.
@FroodyFrog Q can't even unlock an iPhone ;)
@sohmageek
Does this have anything to do with nipples?
@Mehrocco_Mole damn autocorrect. Sci fi*
@sohmageek
Opening an iPhone isn't exactly "hard" per se.
@sohmageek The wife walked in and said, "That's Nana Visitor." DS9. I feel stupid.
@sohmageek
Still have nothing for this couple...
@Mehrocco_Mole Jack Sparrow and Tim Curry!
@Mehrocco_Mole when I hear mohawks and butt cheeks, I'm thinking Mad Max. But that's probably just me.
@walarney No, it's not just you.
@Teripie - Kris Kristofferson and Joni Mitchell.
@KDemo That's what I thought at first, but Tim Curry has been mistaken for Joni Mitchell a lot in the past, so I don't think that's right.
@Mehrocco_Mole: Vernon Welles, Virginia Hey
@Pavlov Absolutely! As a matter of fact it was Virginia Hey who gave me the idea to do this.
I have the back story on the blond guy if anyone is interested.
Virginia Hey was Warrior Woman.
Most of us remember Virginia Hey as ...
in Farscape.
@Mehrocco_Mole I'd be interested in the backstory.
@Pavlov As soon as the tornado passes I'll tell it.
@Pavlov Wow, last week the tornados missed by 10 miles to the north of us. Tonight it was only 2 miles south of us. Homes gone and people hurt. We're Okay but DAMN!
@Mehrocco_Mole Happy you're okay. Wild weather you guys are having. If you get a chance on that backstory some time that would be cool - no rush. Keep safe.
@Mehrocco_Mole
Just saw this picture of a house in Florida destroyed by a tornado.
@Pavlov This is from Vernon Wells so I hope I get it right. The blond kid was delivering pizza to the set when he was offered a role. The kid "couldn't act a lick" so he had no lines. A lot of people had questions about the relationship between the two in the movie but it was more father-son than anything else. In an alternate opening Wez (Wells) had saved the guy from some bad guys but wasn't able to save the rest of the family. Wez adopted blond guy and took him under his wing. This explains why Wez grieved so when he was killed. Apparently the powers that be decided the particular story line didn't add to the movie so it never made it into the final cut.
@FroodyFrog Those were 3 story townhouses about 3 miles from us. The bricks are the front steps. The rest is just gone. The townhouses immediately to the right are Okay but these 4 are gone. I was watching live TV at the time and they had an I-10 camera up. All of a sudden you could see a lot of stuff flying across the camera. It was the townhouses.
[edit] 6 people hurt, 3 went to the hospital. No fatalities reported at this time. Amazing considering the damage.
@FroodyFrog Last one...
@Mehrocco_Mole
That's the same house? Yikes.
In the picture on the right though, it looks like the tree is either elevated or attached to a large section of earth which was ripped from the ground.
Although i guess it could just be an illusion based on shadows or the way the picture was taken.
At least no fatalities reported at this time. Been following the numbers of houses being damaged in different states/countries and it's just a bit stunning.
@Mehrocco_Mole So happy to hear you're OK. That was scary. We get the storms today but our tornados tend to be smaller than that.
Another easy one to see if anyone bites...
His name, character name, show name for the win.
@Mehrocco_Mole Being Human, Sam Witwer, Aidan. I loved this show.
@Mehrocco_Mole Found a better photo for @oldcatlady
@sammydog01 right you are!
@sammydog01 @oldcatlady And just where do you guys keep finding these pictures of me. I don't recall posing WITH the towel.
Last one from me today.
I'm wanting a list for this guy. Starting with his latest.
You guys feel free to keep adding stuff. @froodyfrog; You may now exercise your smartassidness.
@Mehrocco_Mole
Undskyld mig?
@Mehrocco_Mole: Deep Roy
@Pavlov Where's the list?
@Mehrocco_Mole
(In case you didn't get my comment, I was hungry when I wrote it. Hence the language I used)
@Mehrocco_Mole - on IMDB :-P
@Mehrocco_Mole @KDemo Now this is Joni Mitchell.
Don't know if it's the same guy, but all i see is this...
@jaybird Yup! He played each one. If there were 30 oopa-lupas in a scene he did it 30 times. Wow.
There's more SyFy he did. I'll give you one: He was Yoda when Yoda had to walk.
@Mehrocco_Mole
Did he get paid 30x? ;)
I thought they used technology to duplicate him into all 165 oompa loompas though.
@FroodyFrog They composited together footage of him doing it over and over (and over and over) so it wouldn't look replicated / CG and each separate little character's movements would be unique - it added to the illusion. I don't remember if they used multiples of different takes or if they had footage for every incarnation. In some scenes I am sure they used 10 or 20 and mixed them up into 100. Otherwise, DAMN.
And he got paid once as far as I know - he might have legally had to get scale for every single "replication", since the actual footage was unique and TECHNICALLY they were each individual and separate characters - but scale pay is so damn low it wouldn't have made a dent in his compensation overall (even though they may have shown it that way on paper per union rules).
@jaybird Looks like Meadow Lark Lemon to me, may he rest in peace.
