@PurplePawprints Logically speaking, both No options would be apporpriate for any one who has never been in an airplane. You may choose either of those two.
There was no option for "I take it along for the trip, but don't use it on the plane for anything. " So I flipped a coin and checked the work on plane option.
@katylava Yeah, I think it's pretty common to carry it on and not use it. You can't even trust the TSA not to stick their fingers in your medication right in front of you. No way am I sending my laptop in a checked bag. And with my work laptop, I also am required not to check it.
It goes in my carry-on because I don't trust the maniacs in baggage handling. But no way am I using it on the plane. Nothing I do for work is that important.
I'm definitely not trusting that it won't be broken or stolen while it's journeying to the bottom of the plane. Fortunately it's rare that I need to bring my laptop on any trip where I'm flying.
@bluedyn I handle airline baggage claims. People are shocked, just shocked, when they check their laptops in a shopping bag and the screen ends up cracked. You are wise to carry on.
@bluedyn My answer as well. Baggage handlers are fine. The ones I don't trust are TSA agents. The contents of passenger bags are just a source of income for them.
Be it TSA agents or baggage handlers, anything I'm unwilling to gamble on losing or wait for goes with me on the plane. I do love the freedom of flying without carrying bags onto a plane. But I do it infrequently. Especially after the time my bag didn't come home on the same flight I took and I stupidly left my keys in it. My selfish bitch roommate at the time made that an extra special experience.
@bluedyn Exactly. I am unwilling to let the baggage handlers or TSA have it. I don't use it, but it is with me at all times while traveling. On the plane, I use my tablet and/or kindle/book.
@bluedyn I carry it for the same reason. But when the passenger in front of me invariably reclines his/her seat all of the way back, there's no room to use the laptop anyway. Fortunately, I can hold a Kindle without needing the tray.
need an option for carrying laptop in carryon so it isn't stolen or broken in checked. i never use it on the plane, i don't understand how people find space t use laptops.
@vampje first class, there's plenty of room! also I only fly Alaska unless I have to go too far east then I end up on other. Alaska still has okay space in coach seats, unless the person in front of you puts their seat back, then forget it.
My obscenely heavy work laptop gets to ride in a large pelican case with my tools in the luggage compartment. I usually have my tablet with me and sometimes I bring my macbook too.
I always have my laptop on the plane. Keeps me busy during long flights and makes me look important.
No, I'm far too busy screaming and having a panic attack about flying to make use of any electronic devices.
@bluejester Were you the person they cut off from ordering more drinks on my last flight ?
@ceagee No, I would likely drown or gag while screaming if they tried pouring a drink in me.
@bluejester Me too!
No, I don't fly.
@SavvySapphire Yeah, I know, it makes my arms so tired.
I can't vote in this poll because there is no option for someone who has never been in an airplane. I am now sad.

I am required by my company to drag my laptop on the plane in a carry on but I will be damned if they can make me work too.
@jennkaotic This.

@ceagee me too
@ceagee also yes
@ceagee ditto. like... what... am i going to put my laptop in my checked bag? that's crazy.
@ceagee Yup...I need my laptop bag to lug it around where I'm going...why wouldn't I use it while getting there?

@vampje You can surely find space in business class, in which I have never found myself.
@vampje first class, there's plenty of room! also I only fly Alaska unless I have to go too far east then I end up on other. Alaska still has okay space in coach seats, unless the person in front of you puts their seat back, then forget it.
Is this what you're asking I do?
Then, nope.
There's no way I could fly with a laptop.. It would interfere with my flapping arms.
Mmmmm... carrion...
@editorkid My wayward son?
Yes, because I don't check luggage. Ever.
