0Products used:
Lisamrc.com Cicada shell
Sky III Quattro 12A x 4 All-in-one ESC
Flip MWC 1.5 flight controller
1806 @ 2400KV motors come with CW and CCW threading and nuts. Wish I'd paid closer attention to that.
Diatone 5030 props
Devo 601 transmitter

Working on my layout
Lost a nut before even getting it in the air. This is where I wish I'd paid closer attention to the CW CCW threading and made it match my Phantom.
This plastic cover cracked under pressure :( had my FPV equipment mounted to the top with zip ties and I guess the torque on the frame caused it to crack or something. The rest of body is fiberglass or a glass fiber ply.
Front of the craft post issues :(
Rear of craft post issues :(

Fortunately you can print a new cover. Have you taken it up yet? You got quite a bit accomplished in a week! Love the look of the clear rotors.
What firmware are you running on the Flip32?
@ruouttaurmind That was all accomplished in 2 days...The things you can do when you're not thinking about work :).
No I have not taken it up and now can't until I can get replacement nuts. Which looks like if I get them from Amazon would be late Sept. early Oct. :( Trying to get them now from Banggood and shipped to me in PA. Hopefully they make it from the US warehouse before I head back home.
Firmware on the flip is 2.3
@DJMajickMan Multiwii?
@ruouttaurmind Yes the flip is a Multiwii.
Made me go look...now I wanna build a hex (the Beetle). ~$250 for all the parts to fly (except the battery) at the Banggood US warehouse.
@fultonmartin Go for it :)
@fultonmartin +1. I want to build one of those myself!
Check on Aliexpress before you commit to Banggood. I've found most of the stuff I order on Aliexpress for a few bucks less than Banggood.
@ruouttaurmind True, but you have to pick through all the vendors selling the same(?) thing for wildly different prices. Part of the fun?
@fultonmartin Maybe part of the challenge. I'd guess you might save 25% there. On a $3 part I wouldn't even bother. On a $250 build it starts to add up.
@ruouttaurmind So my poking around started with the frame, which I only found at one store. But looking for 2204 motors got me to http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Beetle-LS-300-Carbon-Fiber-Alien-Hexacopter-with-Emax-2204-Motor-12A-ESC-CC3D-Flight-Control/32342492905.html?spm=2114.01020208.3.178.9nERwi&ws_ab_test=201407_3,201444_5,201409_2 for $186, almost exactly 25% less than the $250 at Banggood.
I used those motors and ESCs on the Nighthawk build I did, pretty happy with them. Ordered!
@fultonmartin Looks like a great start!

On an 8.5 x 11 sheet of paper.
@DJMajickMan Now that is just plain awesome right there. Take off the rotors and that would easily fit into a day pack, along with the TX, a few batteries, and have plenty of room left over to pack a lunch. I like it!
@DJMajickMan Are you missing a CCW nut? Are they the same size as the ones on the 1804-2400KV motors we used on the ZMR? I have a couple of spares... (I bought extra motors.)
@fultonmartin Don't know if they are the same size. I've already ordered replacements that should fit.
Just don't know when they will arrive. Hopefully tomorrow or I'll be ordering another set, as they were shipped to my vacation location which means I won't get them until I'm back at Thanksgiving.
Finally some video
@DJMajickMan Doesn't look very stable...I never tried tuning any of the 'flip' FCs I got from RTF quads, and they were smoother than that looks. Did you calibrate the ESCs?
@fultonmartin it's a 12A x 4 all-in-one ESC don't know how to calibrate it, but will look into it. It was not very stable and when power cut you could see it fall off to one side.
@DJMajickMan I have one of those, and IIRC I calibrated it the same way as any other, using a 4<>1 cable: http://www.readytoflyquads.com/speed-controller-calibration-cable. 'How-to' also on that page...
@fultonmartin Thanks. Ordered that and some extra props...Lots of them :) 5x4 and 5x4.5's plus some bluntnose 5x4.5's
