@Veloslave i forgot that the internet is for serious business... when your Minister of Economics does something absurd a dildo to the face may be the only appropriate response.
I get that... but IDK, I look at it and he really could have blinded him in one eye if it was one inch the other direction, it's tacky, it's certainly not appropriate, especially in front of a bunch of people. I sure know I get mad at politicians and have ideas worse than that but, A) that is a felony in this country and B) it just drags the person making the statement down below the level of the intended.
Stupid is funny, no denying it... youtube is living proof of that.
@Veloslave Yeah, inappropriate, illegal, etc... But it was an action in response to a policy that many view to be criminal - the transpacific trade agreement. What if that agreement results in massive worker suffering and slavery like conditions in low-income East Asian nations, unhindered depletion of natural resources, and other unintended consequences? If any of that is true, and this guy is complicit (which he is with the TPP) then he deserves far worse than a dildo to the face - he would be the far larger criminal than the dildo tosser. In the face of the massive multinationals that run everything, absurd comedic acts may be the best viable resistance.
I'm not actually trying to hold this person who threw a dildo up on a pedestal. Just saying that there may be more to it. How much have any of us actually heard about the TPP? Why isn't it a bigger issue during this election season? If a dildo in the face makes a few people ask about the TPP then it might be worth it.
This is a good dialogue... and ironically enough it illustrates what the real problem is. Politics is really the subject and not a dildo. It is the lack of participation by people all over the world that lets politicians and their corporate sponsors get away with what they do. We (globally) are a lazy citizenry on average and frankly are throwing the dildo in our own faces by not getting more involved.... BUT... we continue to let it happen. Sad, especially sad in the internet age when we can harness information so much more effectively but alas, that takes time and commitment and thus the system just keeps rolling... AND to make matters worse, it is still a great, if not best system!
@Veloslave there aren't any objective measures by which to say that anything that (i think) we're talking about is a great or the best system. any metric that would include equality, ecology, and happiness would damn this system and call for an onslaught of dildos
I would have to say that there are many forms of government that have proven failed or incapable of providing "equality, ecology, and happiness."
Corruption will happen no matter the model, BUT some forms are ABLE to respond to correction, minus an all out revolution, without large losses of life. Communism has failed for example... a corrupt government with a strong and well connected military is pretty hard to correct... Take North Korea for example. Many countries have learned the hard way with the Red Flag.
Here OTOH, if enough people get pissed, organised and EFFECTIVELY bitching... politicians know they have to listen. The only real problem in America is that things have got to be pretty drastic for the average stupid American to be able to see past the divide and conquer smokescreen of modern politics... Reps and Dems keeping us for thinking for ourselves by effectively splitting us down the middle.
Nah... it is not the "System" my friend... it is the nature of lazy humans not being responsible and getting and staying involved. In our country, if every person of voting age took one hour per week to do nothing other than work in and on politics, to stay informed, to write congressmen, to assemble and raise awareness, to capitalize on the modern media... then we could flush out the corruption and representatives of it so we would see no more dildos.
@Veloslave too many idealistic rabbit holes... to restate my thesis: politicians, as a class, are corrupted beyond any chance of savior by the influence of multinational corporations. The effects of this corruption are widespread suffering and severe degradation of our habitat. Such absurdity may best be confronted with like absurdity. Dildos to the face are an example. agree/disagree?
First, "politicians, as a class" is far too diluted to comprise a "Class." What we are talking about is more general in nature... Any human in a position of power whose position or will can be controlled by greed.
Absurdity is good for a laugh now and then and even a front page on a lucky day but it is likely to rob the exposure of value by skipping right over the real issue, making fun of the messenger rather than engaging in a productive illustration and dialogue that could bring real exposure to a real problem.
Like right now... your energy is being spent defending the dildo instead of exposing a geopolitical wrong. Have you spent as much time writing your political representatives and the media discussing the TPP as you have here the dildo?
@Veloslave I hope that "throwing the dildo in our own faces" catches on as an expression, just for the joy of knowing the bewilderment translation of this phrase to other languages would bring about.
This guy, might be the biggest douche in the world. I don't know ...... I do know, my Mom taught me when I was probably about 3 years old, to never, ever, throw somethin at someone's face......never ever, period.
There once was a man from New Zealin' whose politics were not too appealin' He ended his race with a cock in his face and critics are on Meh a squealin'
In June, President Obama worked with the Republican Leadership to win a challenging 60-37 vote for Fast Track Authority, which allows the White House to ask Congress for a simple up or down vote on trade deals.
Which leads us to yesterday’s announcement: the White House reached a final agreement on the Trans-Pacific Partnership, a massive trade deal between the United States and 11 other countries along the Pacific Rim.
And to people that post really stupid shit... like this.
Or
That is not a very productive form of dialogue...
Can't decide on which one to go with.

I would have to go with "Disagree" based on:
First, "politicians, as a class" is far too diluted to comprise a "Class." What we are talking about is more general in nature... Any human in a position of power whose position or will can be controlled by greed.

@djslack
Well good luck with that, let us know how it all works out now OK?
@Veloslave Will do. Hopefully I'm not throwing the dildo in my own face.
I actually had a trial based on a dido to the face...jury was not amused
@steveswan54 was it a hung jury
@steveswan54 was there an absolute discharge?
@Lotsofgoats fully released... it was a happy ending for the defendant
This guy, might be the biggest douche in the world. I don't know ...... I do know, my Mom taught me when I was probably about 3 years old, to never, ever, throw somethin at someone's face......never ever, period.
@givemeyoursoul Finger top right. Once you notice it, you'll never not see it. (Thx JonT)
