@daveinwarsh I was two. I loved Waldo. I had a wand thing full of sparkles and some kind of fluid that they were all suspended in. There was also a single Waldo inside. That was my favorite for long car rides. Now kids have tablets…
@moondrake Yeah, I saw that as I was trying to grab an image (you beat me to it!). I think I’ll look at some prices. I have a little one of my own now and we’ve done the books enough to know where he is by heart.
My favorite was the one where he was in the Land of Waldos. Every other kid copped out and went, “There he is”, gesturing to the page. Apparently I was the only one smart enough to actually read the text that said he’d lost his shoe.
To this day I still remember where he is in that scene.
I liked looking AT the Where’s Waldo books, because of the color schemes/themes and details, but not actually FOR him, that gave me crazy anxiety. Same with the I-Spy books.
Despite having a few tattoos, I hate hate hate having blood drawn. I actually picked the lab I use, which is less convenient than another option, based on the fact that they have a Where’s Waldo poster in the blood draw booth. It gives me something to focus on.
TL;DR - I’m over 40 and need the distraction of WW to get through a doctor appt.
Never owned or read any of the Where’s Waldo books.
Been my calendar at the office for the past… however many years I’ve worked at an office.
Never had any interest in Waldo. In fact, I kinda want to punch him in the face.
No look teacher, I am reading.
…
Well it’s a book, isn’t it?
First published in 1987. I was in my 30’s…

@MagnaVis reminds me of this toy.
@daveinwarsh First published in 1987, first child born 1995.
I “read” them, but not by myself. I had a couple little helpers.
@MagnaVis If you want a bit of nostalgia, they have them on EBay.

@daveinwarsh i would have just been born!
I liked the Magic Eye books better, but Waldo was ok. We did a thread here a while back that was similar to Where’s Waldo. That was cool.
@RiotDemon I as well prefer Magic Eye books over Waldo books, however I enjoyed both of them.
Spoiler alert, it’s a horse jumping over a log ^^
@lichme
@RiotDemon @lichme
I have yet to successfully “do” Magic Eye books.
@PlacidPenguin
@PlacidPenguin
I can’t do some of them either. Tho I can see the horse jumping, above.
Guess we’re defective.
@PlacidPenguin Because it’s a scam. There is nothing there. It’s made to give you a headache. That’s all I ever get from Magic Eye pictures.
Well, stepping over a log.
@RiotDemon That’s a vicious looking spikey pole, in the background.
@f00l I can’t do any of them. But I fail colorblindness tests.
@moondrake
I’m not colorblind.
Just have very severe cognitive impairment.
Really, everyone should feel pity for me and give me lots of money. Really.

@bish
Well that’s because Waldo is not in any of the I Spy books.
@DVDBZN that’d be a great way to keep a kid busy
Why does Waldo look like he’s about to assault someone in the third picture?
@jqubed that’s funny. He’s actually hanging from his cane, but I like how you see it better.
He’s about to whack Fuchico!
Fuchico means Edge Girl. Popular set of gachapon (think gumball machine) toys of an office lady that hangs on the edge of your cup.

@medz Damnit! I can’t find Waldo, anywhere.
No
I can never find my copy.
