Did you purchase the PoGo Dual 8,000 with Tablet stand during the mehrathon?
0I have never purchased a power bank before, but this can’t be right. It takes over 12 hrs to charge with the wall plug in and then I can only use it less than 8-10 hrs. Is this normal? Can someone tell me about this power bank or power banks in general.

Some powerbanks charge very slowly in my experience.
Most phones have 2000-3500 mah batteries, so depending on how fast it normally drains, it might only last that long if your device was completely dead when you plugged it in and you kept using it constantly.
@RiotDemon I’m using it with my Samsung Tab., but I use it maybe for 2-3 hrs. The thing discharges quickly when it’s not being used and turned off. It’s a hunk of junk. I don’t need anymore paper weights or door stops.
@growyoungagain you mean the tablet discharges quickly?
@RiotDemon Both discharge quickly. My Samsung has a problem with it’s battery. I’ll charge to 100% and it will turn it self off at 77% or less and it will keep trying to reboot itself. It really bums me out because I loved this tablet. That’s why I thought I’d try a powerbank. What power bank has worked for you?
@growyoungagain Anker and Jackery both have good ones. I think the Anker powercore goes on sale every now and again. It’s a beast.

Have you checked with those cellphone repair places? They might be able to replace the battery in the tablet.
@growyoungagain it just sounds like the tablet might be sucking it dry. Try using the powerbank on your phone and see if it discharges much slower.
I’ve had good luck with the Garadise powerbank I’ve purchased here. Must of the ones I’ve gotten have been fine, actually. It’s a simple thing.
@growyoungagain You could try to grab a USB multimeter dongle, and see if the drain of the device, and the battery capacity seem reasonable.
for example
no
@Yoda_Daenerys No it’s not normal? I can just imagine what 12+hrs is doing to my elec. bill.
@growyoungagain Of course it depends on how much you pay per kWh for electricity, but the Wh potential for a 8000mAh battery is about 40 Wh at 100% efficiency.
Assuming the efficiency of charging is very poor, and an electricity cost of $0.11 per kWh (what I pay), it would cost you a few cents every time you charge it.
To place a perspective, a 100 watt lightbulb costs me 11 cents to operate for 10 hours.
@growyoungagain “no” to
@growyoungagain at the 11¢/kwh rate discussed, a 5V/1A charger costs $0.00055 per hour, discounting inefficiency. That’s $0.0066 per 12 hour charge. If it’s only 50% efficient it could cost you 1.32¢ to charge, and it’s probably more like 80-85% efficient so we’re talking about less than a cent.
It could conceivably take that long to charge if the adapter provides 1a of charge current. The way lithium batteries charge, they will approach a full charge quickly and then taper off the charge rate. The last, say, 20% of the charge can take 1/3 or more of the total charge time.
Then, as you use it, if your device draws a constant 1A of current, you’d run it out in 8 hours without regard for inefficiency in the voltage step up being done to supply 5v from a 3.7v battery. If you draw 2.1A (whether it will supply this has been contested) you could kill it in less than 4 hours.
So yeah, it doesn’t seem that far off. I’ve never timed mine so I’m not sure how long it takes to charge.
Mine does not appear to self discharge when turned off.
No. I did not purchase that item. Thanks for asking.
@medz
yes cheap power banks charge slowly
i own over 20 power banks and all the cheapo ones i own charge at less than 5 watts. so a big power bank will take all day and night to charge
i even bought 2 voltometers to test this out
i do own 2 expensive quick charge 3.0 power banks(MSRP $30 each) and they charge other devices at 16-17 watts and they charge at 16-17 watts so it only take 2 or 4 hours to fully charge.
tldr you get what u pay for
This USB multimeter worries me:
@communistjack
part 2
try a different USB cable
some usb cables at so weak they only charge at 1-4 watts.
i have to use high quality usb cables to get the full 17 watt charging on my fancy quick charge power bank
@djslack 15. 406v? 12.566v? On a USB port? Yeah, stay away!
@communistjack
@growyoungagain
part 3 try a different wall brick
i have seen wall brick that only do 3 watts(the small white iphone one only does 5 watts)
and now they have bricks that go all the way to 60 watts
@narfcake you dont like 100°C on your phone?
@communistjack The “boiling water temperature recharging trick”. That supposed to work almost as well as microwaving your phone, right?

I bought it to hold my tablet while reading in bed. Works for me!
