Did laptop deals?
4Hi everybody,
I am looking to buy a laptop for my study and entertainment. I have now found the laptop I want. But right now its price is quite high, so I want to ask everyone if anyone has any discount deals that are suitable for buying a laptop? Hope everyone can let me know.
Thanks everyone.

Will you be using this laptop to run your copy of Disney’s animation software? Laptops that powerful never have any deals on them.
If you are just going to use it to fine tune bot software then you should probably just train the bot to do the research for you?
@yakkoTDI For reference.

@rogerbacon thanks you
Is “laptop” the new slang for a “side chick” or “mistress”?
@mike808 No
Due to theft, I too am desperately searching for a good deal on an excellent laptop
I know there are some amazing deals but I am getting confused with all the new spec language…
I don’t even know what a thunderbolt port is… I know I need a laptop or combo that had minimum if 8mg ram and 128-256 ssd hd and both should be expandable and not “soldered”… Mine isn’t staying in the study but will be taking it with me everywhere. I recently saw a number of Laptops that were being discounted just cuz they were "14.
I know there’s a lot of TECH Heads amongst us soooo, could a few of you point us in the right direction towards the best deal for the least money??? Greatly appreciated and I will try to post a pic riding a thunderbolt if someone is able to find us both the Laptops if our dreams…

@UBU2 is it illegal?
@Coupon92123 good bot
I am in same situation with limited funds. I don’t want to resort to using QVC with the worthless bundles they use to overcharge by hundreds! I don’t want their “exclusive” rose gold laptop bag (retail value $89! Tee hee) or a whole bunch of other accessories I either don’t need or already have. EasyPay is a fine arrangement on a lot of their stuff, but when it comes to laptops, they’re taking advantage of people. The bundles are used as interest charges in disguise (in my opinion).
Now for something possibly (but probably not) useful to someone (and not just me complaining): if one happens to have an Apple credit card, you can finance items from their store. On the surface, I didn’t see anything about finance charges, but one should make sure to read fine print. This doesn’t help Windows people though.
@tssorrells I hope you will find the computer that is right for you.
@Coupon92123 thank you I appreciate that
In case you haven’t checked out Best Buy, they are allegedly having a 3-day sale that ends tomorrow.

@heartny Thanks for your support
The usual places - Costco, Sam’s, BJ’s, Best Buy, Newegg, Walmart, Dell, HP, Asus. Apple is well, bend over. No such thing as a deal for overpriced trendy fruit logos.
The 11th gen Intel stuff is out, deals are on 10th gen. You can tell by the CPU model. It starts with the generation.
Same for Ryzen.I think the new ones are the 5th gen, older are 4th and 3rd gen.
For a daily driver, the integrated graphics is fine. You dont need a separate AMD or nVidia GPU.
Yes to the “field upgradeable” hard drive if it is a second one. There are no soldered HDDS. Only SSDs or M2 drives can be soldered in place.
If you see a model you like, see if youtube has a “how to upgrade the HDD to a SSD on X laptop” or “how to repair X” or “Laptop X teardown”, where X is the model number.
If you go to the manufacturer site (HP, Dell, Acer, MSI, etc) they will have the older models under “support”, since they want to sell the new models on the front page. There you’ll at least find the specifications, and options like more RAM or HDD or SSD or M2.
FYI - SSDs are running $100 for a 1TB drive. You can get a 3+TB latop HDD for the same money.
@mike808 Thanks you so much
Go on Amazon and look at the Asus and Acers.
I have a 128 SSD and hate it. I wish I had gone with a larger HDD. I have flash drives all over the place with things on them that I would rather have on my laptop.
You can always upgrade your RAM and hard drive, but for research (which is what I use mine for mostly), a simple one with a lot of storage is good.
I have an Acer. It’s ok, but, like I said, I wish I had gotten a larger HD.
If you find a really good deal, let me know. I’m always looking.
Good luck!
@Tadlem43 I can second this. A 120GB primary drive is OK, but not if you have your collection of movies and photos and a game or two. That content can get quite large quickly.
Most people are either usjng a second drive or an external drive, i.e. a bigger traditional HDD, or if you have the money, an SSD.
The super thin 15.6" class laptops are likely not upgradeable with a second drive (meaning the one in it would be a replacement, not an add-on). Most manufacturers are moving to M.2 SSDs. They look like memory sticks but the connector is on one end (short side) because they take up far less room than the 2.5" laptop SATA HDD size/form factor.
So plan for a second drive, maybe that you add yourself (or a tech friend).
@mike808 Yeah… I have an external hard drive, but I find it cumbersome when I’m doing research. It’s easier for me to save it to flash drives.
I have to have a dock for the external drive, and it takes a lot more room.
My thin Acer is upgradable, but since I don’t use it for a lot of heavy gaming or anything, it’s really not worth it. But when I buy my next one, I’ll have a better idea of what I DON’T want. There isn’t room enough for another drive, but I could put in a larger drive.
I liked my old laptop better. 1T hard drive, plenty of memory, CD drive, etc., but it literally fell apart. Just broke into pieces while I was sitting in my recliner typing. It was a Dell. Won’t do that again, either!
@Tadlem43 Thanks for your suggestion
