Did anyone see Trainwreck? It was AMAZING.
4SO funny, I haven't laughed that hard in a theater since Superbad. Amy Schumer is hilarious and I'm glad she's getting the fame and attention and opportunity she deserves. It was everything I love in a movie, but also surprisingly heartfelt. It was Girl Humor at its best, which is just as raunchy and hilarious as Dude Humor. I hope she makes shitloads more movies.

Amy Schumer is a genius, I was lucky enough to see her stand up, best comic out there
I went to see it with my wife, and with the exception of one gay couple, I was the only male in an auditorium that was 3/4 full. I don't know that this actually means anything, but I was very surprised at the demographic breakdown. Even the audiences at conventional rom-coms aren't that skewed.
I read this wrong and saw the background image. Thought you were talking about an actual trainwreck.
I'm not as confused as I was, but am also kind of disappointed.
@Chops just to make you feel better.

I agree with Variety and many others in that Judd Apatow is the only reason Amy Schumer pulled it off at all.
@Pavlov You must have a special edition of Variety.
Most of the credit goes to Schumer, who wrote as well as anchored the film
She also helped reinvigorate director Judd Apatow’s career after “This Is 40″ and “Funny People” disappointed critically and commercially.

@gnext2 Wow, and thanks - I wasn't aware of that article, and it is an obvious reversal of previously published comment - there was an opinion piece online on Variety after the working prints were test screened and the buzz all over that was Apatow pushed her and her script and sans his involvement it may sharply and distinctly have fallen flat - I'll try to dig it up. Mid-June on their site if I remember correctly. Maybe now that Streep is interested in having her play her daughter they've pulled back - because what I just read there is nothing like what I read on their site when I was laid up in Rochester. Normally, I wouldn't give the romcom genre a second look but the article I read basted her so much it was difficult to ignore.
@Pavlov Man, those were clearly some impressive meds! :¬D
@curtise Yeah, they were - but I know I read it - and for the life of me I can't find it - I remember very specifically who wrote the piece, I just emailed him for clarification / comment.
@Pavlov In case it wasn't clear by the laughing smiley, I was kidding around - I totally believe you're correct.
@curtise Oh, sorry - I know - I'm just sitting here wondering why they withdrew the opinion piece in June. The gentleman that I emailed has used me as source on several things in the past, I'll be interested to read his reply.
@Pavlov
please explain further...
@Pavlov it really happens sometimes that some men can't give a woman credit for something funny and/or smart -- are you sure he's not one of "those guys"? maybe that's why they pulled it.
@katylava Now that I've gone a few hours without a reply, I have to admit that something along those lines has crossed my mind - but I have never found him to be like that IRL. I am someone that doesn't give two shakes of a stick about gender (or race, etc.) when it comes to much of anything (other than whom I historically prefer to sleep with) - great work product is great work product . . . Credit is due where it is due. Period. I'd be really let down to find him to be so misogynistic. If I don't get an answer tonight, I'm going to make a call in the morning - @MrsPavlov remembers talking to me about the comment while we in Minnesota. I'll post back here anything I find out.
PS - Katy, did you get my quick Gmail note? Thanks.
@G1 The gentleman I emailed, who I distinctly remember as being the author of the opinion, has interviewed me in the past. From time to time, the company I co-founded does work on feature film.
@katylava @G1 @curtise @gnext2
The author of the blurb I read after the working prints were test screened emailed back and did admit that he stated in the comments section in reply to a reader's response to his entry that the buzz at that time was that Apatow really pushed Schumer and her script, and without him, it may have "completely flopped".
He said he stands by his opinion.
Addressing why the article (which was really more a stub) and the resulting comments were pulled from the Website, he replied: "I don't make those decisions. It may have been because my initial impressions were formed from viewing several working prints which were audience screened, all of which contain footage not included in the final printt (sic) and each cut is different. Plus I'm certain that as perceptions have changed after wide release it was an editorial decision."
At least I know I'm not crazy.
I enjoyed the film, but now I think I need to revisit it with new eyes and see it again.
NSFW language
(every-time I see that mcdondalds' lemonade commercial I think they are trying to sell me urine)
@thismyusername To be fair, they probably are.
