@coldestcore
OMG!!! I was going to buy this set but the measuring cups and spoons look like something you’d find at one of those $1 stores and you get what you pay for in those places! AND then I saw June’s deal and I’m even more turned off by today’s deal! Don’t you people at Meh realize that even tho we may be cheap, we still want quality merchandise and plastic over stainless steel is definitely NOT quality! So sad! I guess I’ll wait another month and see if the stainless steel cups and spoons make it back in the set… thanks @coldestcore for the link!!!
@coldestcore@leti1111 I feel like your dollar stores may be better than mine.
As far as plastic spoons go, though look pretty thick and strong. I guess it is hard to tell from the pictures, though.
As it happens, I recently did use a dollar store measuring cup set and snapped the handle scooping out… something. Maybe brown sugar? I don’t remember.
What the heck meh?! This is the same mixing bowl set you sold last month for the same price and now you’ve downgraded the stainless steel measuring cups to plastic ones. That’s not cool.
For the spoons and cups: what matters is the accuracy not the material they are made of. These are accurate.
The bowls are very nice. They are Wirecutter’s pick for mixing bowls.
The $6 difference between Amazon’s price for the bowls and the $29 set price at Meh definitely pays for the cups and spoons and the very nice stepped measuring beaker.
I bought this last time as a back to school purchase for a college kid. This is a great starter set for a kid with first apartment.
I bought these back in May and my wife told me I was stupid for doing it.
Once the package arrived and she opened it, she was very impressed with the quality of the bowls, spoons, and measuring cups. She used the medium sized bowl to mix up a batch of “crow” to eat.
I was going to recommend this wholeheartedly, but the switch to plastic spoons and measuring cups really cheapens this deal. But it’s not reflected in the price. Still $29. Boo Meh. Boo.
I like the deal. Didn’t need them last month; do now. And the plastic versus stainless measuring cup schism, there’s your “meh,” right there. Nothing to get one’s panties a wad about.
For a bonus, order number - “fascinating-gregarious-load,” takes me back to my wayward, youthful nights at Plato’s Retreat.
I got them last time, partly because of the very nice steel measuring cups and spoons, which are quite nice. Shame they have plastic ones this time, even though the price is the same.
But the bowls are great, especially with the lids. And kudos to the write upper:
@stolicat As the buyer for this deal the plastic measuring spoons are nicer than the stainless in my opinion. The stainless had a tendency to bend a bit when scooping in thick material. The Plastic do not. They are thicker than they look.
@moofi@stolicat@therealjrn I’m not sure what you’re trying to measure that will bend the S/S spoons. Setting concrete maybe?
Sounds like BS to me. The S/S spoons and cups are 'da bomb! That’s why my wife liked the deal. If they’d been plastic I’d have been the one eating crow.
@stolicat@therealjrn@Trinityscrew The handles on the other spoons / cups were very thin. So imagine trying to scoop a thick protein powder or crystalized sugar.
@moofi@therealjrn@Trinityscrew I was scooping frozen ice cream with a metal one the other day (too lazy to go find a spoon) - in general they seem fine. I’ve never had a metal one break on me, and they look much nicer.
I bought a set of just the bowls from the local Ace Hardware for $20 last fall. These are quality and useful around the kitchen, the price is just a little high IMO.
I dithered last time because I only needed the bowls and measuring spoons, and missed it. I thought it would be several months before they sold them again. So I bought a 5 pack of bowl but still have same measuring spoons (1 set of my grandmother’s hand-me-down now dented metal, 1 set cracked plastic).
So I am glad I bought the bowls so I didn’t quick hit buy due to the sharp folks noticing the change to plastic spoons. I’ll go get spoons, any recos?
Back at it again an exact month later! May 24th
Would buy again but it looks like this set doesn’t come with as nice measuring spoon & cups

“Stainless Steel Measuring Spoons . . . Material: Plastic . . .”.
Hmmm.
@JohnMorris looks like they copied the description from the almost same listing a month ago
@JohnMorris that’s the first thing I noticed too
What the heck meh?! This is the same mixing bowl set you sold last month for the same price and now you’ve downgraded the stainless steel measuring cups to plastic ones. That’s not cool.
In case you want to read up about the last sale, which wasn’t so long ago (and apparently had nicer steel cups).
@jeffcohen How much was it going for then?
@jayman007 same price
Again so soon?

I JUST took mine out of the box last week. Looking forward to using it, but disappointed today’s deal is a rerun. Can I fast-forward this thing?
@wvuame It’s like waiting for Santa…except in this case you’re going to have to go sleep for 23 hours.
I got these last time. they’re great. highly recommend.
Something is cooking at meh!
Smells fishy too!!

Way to mix it up!
This deal is cake… (refer to previous post).

You JUST did these!!! Like a month ago. Grrrr.
I was expecting something a little bit more… well, IRKy.

Looks like they sold out really quickly last time (glad I got mine), so it makes sense they are running it again.
Got the same size stainless bowls for less than half this price at Macys and the other stuff is meh at best (esp the $1 plastic measurers)
@azdarkknight wow! Half the price? Do you have a link?

@stolicat @therealjrn The one and only

This deal went from Stainless Steel Meh to Plastic Bleh in a month’s time. Is that a new record?

P.S. @Dave love the write-up. Sounds like the kind of cooking show I’d manage to put on.
@mollama TJMaxx had the metal spoons and measuring cups for $5 a set when I was there last week.
Oh, look, it’s the thing I ordered, never got, then had my order cancelled with no explanation just a couple of weeks ago. Great.
I’ve got the bowls (standalone $23 on amazon w/o the spoons etc.) and they’re quite nice. Safe for fridge, too.
“$56 (FOR EVERYTHING) AT AMAZON” Everything?
I think the measuring cups and spoons were stainless steel last time, but I’m very happy with these, as is the Mrs.
Mehh
Uranium?
