@norman8 I think you're supposed to do something like put a dollar bill by the blade. At least that's what I've heard for scissors... So maybe tape on a 50-cent piece?
@norman8 Around here, when you receive a knife as a gift, you should buy it for a token amount (a penny, a quarter, etc) so as to avoid the bad luck of the gifted knife cutting your friendship.
At least that's how I was taught.
P.S. My ex gave me a generic pocket knife from the engraving place in the mall the last Christmas we spent together. I didn't pay her for it, and we no longer speak. But correlation isn't causation, and I'm far better off now :)
@ralphieeek you beat me to it... I was hoping for a Speaker dock... Or an amazing item at an amazing price... I guess for some this is, but it's just not my cup of tea:
Maybe a mediocre item at a mediocre price is about the whole Mediocre Wednesday... I think I will wear a meh shirt and not do much... Other than diapers. :(
@eVil But is it worth $125? I mean... I got a Knife, why do I need more than one? Maybe Because I lost it... but I know it'll show up... I just have to start getting rid of some of the other crap around here... :)
@2many2no But what if you need to stab someone wearing body armor after you've been cutting ropes all day? You might argue that these features interrupt an otherwise useful length of blade, but you need to be prepared for these kinds of things.
@Dengue I'm just not a fan of the blade shape. I don't carry a knife for defense (or offense) and I don't have a need for heavy duty cutting, so a slimmer blade with a nice curve is my preference. Something like:
My current EDC is the G-10 Hawkmeh sold a few months ago. With the clip removed, it's light enough to drop in your pocket unnoticed. However, YMMV. Everyone has different needs.
@2many2no I actually have the G-10 sitting right in front of me and taking the clip off sounds like a great idea. I stopped carrying a knife on me for the simple reason that I keep scratching my car getting in and out of it. Maybe I can just find some rubber coating for the clip because I do prefer something a little more beefy.
@lichme been trying to get a handle on your meme but can't quite cut to the chase. This pun is getting a bit long in the tooth. Hopefully @Thumperchick won't clip it.
@PWiddy No. It's got a decent one finger release...but not spring assisted. If you want a good spring assisted release knife, SOG Flash II. That's probably the best EDC knife on the market.
Nah, you want a Humvee HMV-KTR-12 Recon 12 Folding Knife with Partially Serrated Stainless Steel Blade and Metal Pocket Clip, Black and Silver, it's a) gigantic, b) weighs a ton, c) spring assisted and illegal everywhere. ~$10 on the parent company site. But I bought one of these because, you know, Kenny O.
@Ophukk Is the SOG better than a similar Spyderco? I loved my Delica and it held an edge against all kinds of abuse. I credit that to the VG10 vs AUS8 steel, but really good heat treating could make a difference.
Have you had the chance to compare it to mid-tier Spydercos with VG10 steel?
Not a horrible knife but tip down and flipper, boo. Woot beat you yesterday with its $30 black Blur. It is a better knife all around. I bought five. Plus two more when they offered the $36 tanto blur. I may have a problem.
@mehmongrel I like my "dookie knife", sharp as heck, smooth opening, and less likely to be " borrowed". Holds an edge well, despite the abuse I submit it to.
at 8.25 inches open, this thing is huge if you're used to small-ish EDC pocket knives. just got a kershaw lifter that is 7.75 and it's too already far too big to carry in my front pocket comfortably.
I have to pass. People are giving me the hairy eyeball for giving knives as gifts all the time. The male adults loved them, the wives not so much, and then last year,-they didn't say anything- but I think the adults were getting jittery when I gave the nieces and nephews knives for Christmas. They don't know I'm a lazy cheapskate that solely shops at Meh; they just think I'm the psychotic uncle.
@Steve7654 I ordered several out the front switchblades with built in lighter for my nieces and nephew as gag gifts for Christmas. My sister will likely have a stroke when they open them.
meh. Makes me glad I picked up a Spyderco Des Horn today via Amazon's ⚡ deals. ~$60 for gentleman folder w/a S30V blade. Right handed tip down carry only, but some lefties love the damn thing anyways.
Coworker has been enviously waiting for me to lose track of the K490KKS I bought months ago. So he's getting this one to stop his constant sniveling. Bless you meh for bringing peace into our workforce.
I really don't understand why consumers think partially serrated blades are good. Would be nice if they didn't, so knife companies would stop making 'em.
Anyone know what if any difference there is between this one and the K490KKS sold here a few months back? I mean aside from the $4. I've looked at different sites including CRKT and still can't find any solid info...

Isn't it bad luck to give a knife as a gift?
@norman8
Unless it's the 17th wedding anniversary, in which you traditionally give titanium-nitride-coated AUS 8 steel
@norman8 I think you're supposed to do something like put a dollar bill by the blade. At least that's what I've heard for scissors... So maybe tape on a 50-cent piece?

@djslack so, one could say then that a gifted knife may be lucky...
37th anniversary is glass filled nylon.
Can't blame you, people sure love knives for some reason. But meh.
If it is a Bluetooth knife. I might reconsider :) :)..... meh
@ralphieeek
Or four spinning RC knives with a camera in the middle
@ralphieeek I heard Bluetooth compatibility is coming in the next patch!!
@ralphieeek you beat me to it... I was hoping for a Speaker dock... Or an amazing item at an amazing price... I guess for some this is, but it's just not my cup of tea:

Not sure this deal is sharp enough for me.
inb4 knife jokes
@yellowfellow Almost...
@capguncowboy Eh, @yellowfellow took a stab at it.
@yellowfellow Just trying is pointless.
no hdmi...
you forgot to include the word "tactical"
Crying knife -" onion" glad I told u?
Will this work with a Mac?
@DaveInSoCal
Or come in purple?
@DaveInSoCal yes
@MehnofLaMehncha I love purple.
This seems oddly appropriate as Super Troopers is currently on and the shenanigans scene just played lol
A knife for all u cut ups out there

@sohmageek $125, probably not. $24? I'm in. :)
I'm going to use your reasoning to explain my purchase. Except I really know where it is. I mean they are. I mean all of them are...
I think I have a problem.
Serrated tanto?
Ummmm... NO.
@2many2no But what if you need to stab someone wearing body armor after you've been cutting ropes all day? You might argue that these features interrupt an otherwise useful length of blade, but you need to be prepared for these kinds of things.
@MehAmphetamine OK, a real tanto would be cool to have, but a tanto blade on a pocket knife?
Still no.
@2many2no Can you explain why you don't want a tanto on a pocket knife?
@Dengue I'm just not a fan of the blade shape. I don't carry a knife for defense (or offense) and I don't have a need for heavy duty cutting, so a slimmer blade with a nice curve is my preference. Something like:

Anyone know if the blade has a spring release? Meaning, will it spring out or give a similar feel?
@PWiddy No. It's got a decent one finger release...but not spring assisted. If you want a good spring assisted release knife, SOG Flash II. That's probably the best EDC knife on the market.

Hmmmm... AUS 8 has way fewer characters than 8Cr13MoV. It must be a far inferior material. That's just science.
@CraigDanger I come here for the science, mostly.
Knife is as cheap as $26.99 on eBay....a very meh deal.
@mfauske88 but you won't get the fine repartee over there like you do here.
Still waiting for a knife made from a better steel.
I got one of these as a cheap replacement for my Spyderco Delica that was stolen. It's ok, but doesn't hold an edge compared to the Spyderco.
I really want another knife with VG10 steel. Please meh? I'm one of the few here that wants another knife to come up. Listen to me, please?
@thekiltedwonder Few??? remember they sell outa knives all the time here....
@PhysAssist All I see are people complaining about the knives. I know they have to sell some or they would stop.
And actively wanting something is different from simply having some use/reason to buy it.
'Onion', 'Shenanigan', & 'Serrated'... three words that should NEVER appear together in any worthwhile product description.
'Meh' by association. (Sorry mediocre.)
Ugh, not a fan of 1) tanto blades 2) serrated blades 3) "tactical"-looking black blades.
Sooo I only bought one.
@awk was with you until you purchased one.
@phb @awk Yeah, only one?
@awk I'm with you --- except I'm out on this one. Waiting on something a bit more EDC-friendly and workplace-safe.
Not a horrible knife but tip down and flipper, boo. Woot beat you yesterday with its $30 black Blur. It is a better knife all around. I bought five. Plus two more when they offered the $36 tanto blur. I may have a problem.
@ponagathos unless you're successfully flipping them, then yes.
Perfect knife for the mall ninja in your life.
Oh come on! Where it the nice, inexpensive fixed blade?
@yakkoTDI Kitchen drawer?
But I already have the one that looks like a dookie. This would just be excessive.
@mehmongrel I like my "dookie knife", sharp as heck, smooth opening, and less likely to be " borrowed". Holds an edge well, despite the abuse I submit it to.

@wew those $20 pocket taser things that you can buy online might make nice gifts. they look pretty impressive when you set them off. kids love 'em.
@Steve7654
I ordered several out the front switchblades with built in lighter for my nieces and nephew as gag gifts for Christmas. My sister will likely have a stroke when they open them.
I have a CRKT M-16 that I carried every day for 15 years, might be a good replacement
Words to live by.

dont like dual edges tbh. Tanto is nice for self defense but not typical cutting work. meh.
how is this for deterring zombies?
@ozob Meh....... just show them the stabby rainbow video.
I really don't understand why consumers think partially serrated blades are good. Would be nice if they didn't, so knife companies would stop making 'em.
@Lotsofgoats it goes well with loud exhaust and flame paint job
How am I supposed to whittle with a serrated blade, Meh, how?
