You know someone in meh land tried to buy these yesterday and couldn’t find them in a store. They probably feel like meh is taunting them and they just threw their mulled cider at the screen yelling “feck you meh!”
@craigthom I believe they call this the Pro Fit model. Although at 203mm it sounds bigger.
I picked up a 12" chef’s knife on a whim at the restaurant supply place a while back. Turns out it’s overkill for almost everything I use it for. When I break it out I refer to it as the murder knife. So there is such a thing as too big as well.
@djslack Yeah… I did that for years before I realized how much I was wasting…and not ordering.
If I could get them to retro some of those many months I didn’t use it…lol
@Tadlem43 feel free to click on my profile and see 8 years of VMP… It’s backed up by 25 more months that ended when my card expired. That looks like $605 plus tax.
That’s like halfway to just buying the Breville Control Freak I once requested in a product request thread. I’ve got no real complaints, though. And I still have my socks. But I get it. Even more so after doing that math.
@Tadlem43 During times I’m being more frugal, I’ll get membership and then cancel it the day before it renews. It has to be a good deal for me to activate the membership, but then I tend to buy several items during the month Im active.
I guess meh was listening when in a recent thread about what we missed from the past knives were mentioned (and, of course, speaker docs). They decided to fork over a knife for us.
The red is nice, and has two advantages:
• Red will attract very young kids which could make for some entertaining spectator sport action.
• Your blood will not be as obvious and therefore will not upset your guests.
A kitchen knife at this price-point is gonna be junk. Seriously, go to a store that sells quality kitchenware, and get one that feels balanced in your hand. For $8, you’re not gonna find anything for a serious cook.

I guarantee it happened somewhere in meh land.
In my opinion, 8" is too short for a carving knife.
@craigthom it’s not the size it’s how you use it

(10" is a nice size.)
@craigthom Oh sure, and you prolly bought the “XL Fit” Maxim condoms that were offered a few days ago…
@djslack 8" is fine for a chef’s knife. Carving knives are for a different task: long single cuts. It’s the same for bread knives.
Why did the carving knife cross the road?
@nzdod To get to the other slice?
@nzdod tur-key the car parked there?
@nzdod To get to the other sides.
I’d get this if I didn’t have to pay for the shipping.
@Tadlem43 pay for the membership so you get the shipping for free

@Tadlem43 Best price for non-members appears to be on Side Deal’s Ebay page: $10.50 and free shipping. https://www.ebay.com/itm/387582344429
@pcolachiller @Tadlem43 Mercatalyst has eBay pages!?
@pcolachiller Ohh…Thanks!

@djslack @Tadlem43 Plus, you get free shipping over at Casemates.com - which, for me, is an ongoing good deal.
Same day delivery?
