@AaronLeeJohnson Sure is. It’s a delight to have if you’re someone that loves coffee drinks but whose body refuses to cooperate when caffeine is involved
@AaronLeeJohnson I mean, so is decaf eSpresso; but I’m not sure if that was the joke, and I just missed it in my joy over discussion acknowledging the existence of decaf espresso
@docF94@ybmuG It’s also not required to be a wedding ring, either. It’s just fitting the stereotypical shape of one.
But that’s certainly a pinky right next to it; viewing from the front as we are, it’s a left hand.
If more evidence is needed, watch the first 30 seconds or so:
@shanesny@troy
Troy, that is indeed a possibility, even on professional grade machines. I used to operate a double pull-handle style machine made by Rancilio, and sometimes trainees (self included) would jam the flow by over-tamping the espresso and only a drop or two would come out.
Honestly this is worth it for the first-gen Nespresso compatibility alone. It’s hard to find a first-gen machine under $150 let alone $50 now. first-gen is important as Vertuo capsules aren’t available third-party due to DRM implementation. Vertuo also cheats the brew process through centrifugal force creating the crema.
@alansing84 yeah actually considering it for that. Some original Nespresso caps are pretty good especially the limited single-origin ones but they are pricy. For regular use best thing I found is either Peet’s or SBux at Amazon Warehouse Deals, though haven’t checked lately. Definitely stay away from any of the budget ones in plastic capsules including some sold under various names by Kroger and related stores.
I may not be looking correctly but I do not see a cup that looks Nespresso pod compatible. So how exactly does that work?
Definitely stay away from plastic Nespresso pods. Most tend to be horrible. Pete’s is a good go to. My favorites are Starbucks blends. Also found drinkable ones at gourmesso.
There are a lot of true coffee nerds out there. They are everywhere. Respect.
However, I just want to know can it make a decentish cup and is it such a PITA in this machine that I will never actually use it and how long do you think it would take me stumbling half naked in the early morning to do make a cup?
That dorothy tornado cold brew maker I bought here is one such PITA, takes 30 minutes and makes a pitiful amount.

QVC sold these for $74. It’s been discontinued on their site but had very mixed reviews (only ten) with a 3.5 rating. Against y better judgement, I’m in.
And now it’s broken. That was very fast. $40 for 1 month was much too expensive. I only used to make coffee with Nespresso pods so I don’t see how I could have done anything to break it. But now when I push the on button and the red light goes on to show it’s pre-heating the water starts coming out. That’s not supposed to happen until the green light comes on to show it’s finished preheating. Disappointing.
I know this deal was a while ago but I’m interested in getting a non-pressurized portafilter for this machine. I’m not convinced it’ll make great espresso, but I’m down to spend $20 on AliExpress to FAFO. I measured and it seems to be 54mm which is a real size but not a super common one. I can’t find any actual specs on the portafilter online anywhere — has anyone else tried this or have any idea if this is accurate?
@hubbird Also for what it’s worth this has been a pretty excellent $40 purchase. Between the one decent grinder I’ve found at the local fancy grocery store and the cheap but decent hand-grinder I got, I’m making shots that, while not excellent, are at least tolerable.

Decaf Expresso is a thing, right?
@AaronLeeJohnson yes. Go for the best local roaster you can and make sure it’s water processed to decaf it

Expresso yourself.
@phendrick Espresso you!
I am foaming mad at this deal!
It’sa Right hand with a Wedding Ring!
@docF94 looks left to me.
@docF94 @ybmuG It’s also not required to be a wedding ring, either. It’s just fitting the stereotypical shape of one.

@docF94 @xobzoo @ybmuG Love how their first attempt to brew (with ground beans) results in no espresso at all. Hard pass.
@shanesny My only guess on that is that she had the grounds compacted too tight & too full. Here’s another video in case anyone is interested

If I thought it would last I might go for this but cheap espresso machines have too many plastic parts that break.

@rustyh3 There is a little capsule converter included (little cone-shaped thing)

And I have two of them now.
Please, I must know.
@qazxto no espresso machine that makes a cup without effort makes a good cup.
Now, there are expensive ones that you can dial in and leave but cheap ones, nah, not happening, so sorry
@qazxto It’s only $40. If it dies after a year, that’s still a LOT of espresso
@Badpookey @qazxto

Not one mention in the description or comments about working late because you’re a singer? You guys are slippin’.
@grovberg they should have dream came trued it for ya, or mountain dewed it for ya, at least.

Or just old?
Dearest Meh.,
I do not want an Espresso Maker, but I do desire a t-shirt with today’s “Meh-moji”.
Kindest regards,
Bear
@Sutures @meh I’d buy that for a dollar (or several).
@mehvid1 no.
@meh “respectfully,” fuck off then.
