Back before I put the ret after my creds, Friday was hell day. Healthcare is a 24/7 operation, even though we were not an ‘emergency service’ . weekends are a work day for the licensed staff, so Friday was about making sure everything was in place for the weekend as the hospitals discharged whoever they could.
That being said, work from home is a mixed blessing. Works for some positions and not others and for some people and not others. My feeling was if you can’t be productive in the office, being at home will not make it any better Now if a job has productivity standards and you can meet them in 4 or 5 hours, great, However if you struggle you don’t have support.
But then I worked in a different industry for a company who actually cared.
@Cerridwyn It’s always interesting when a company cares a LOT about how productive people are at home but pretty much just demand a warm body if you’re in the office…
@jouest I cared both ways. And generally speaking if somebody can’t be productive in the office they can’t reproductive at home we had one person who you couldn’t keep off her cell phone and we couldn’t confiscate them. She was written up for it multiple times but it wasn’t determination offense and when covid happened and she was allowed to work from home she would post pictures of things she was doing with her children during business hours. And her colleague was picking up her Slack
@jouest I’ve found the secret to working hard is eating lots of beets (off the clock of course) and practicing martial arts during downtime, which is never, because I never stop working.
@blaineg There’s an office building where I work sometimes where they just mandated return to office. whole parking garage is packed, except for the one level reserved for managers…always a ghost town there. Curious.
… psst, keep it down or they’re going to find you.
@Targaryen hey some of us are supposed to be chatting on meh forums during business hours…
@jouest @Targaryen Nice work if you can get it…
@Kyeh @Targaryen You should see the TPS reports.
@jouest @Targaryen Don’t forget the cover sheets!
What’s Friday? It’s Monday #5 here.
@narfcake can’t tell if bleak or inspiring…
@jouest The former.
Friday used to be the start of the retail part of the week for me.

@jouest OSIFA.
@werehatrack perfection

@Cerridwyn @jouest Some lovely autocorrects there.
@blaineg @Cerridwyn point seems to hold up though
I work at least 60 hours on Friday each week. Don’t stop to take a break or even to pee. I’m laser focused and deserve a raise.
@OnionSoup Dwight Schrute energy over here

@heartny adorably bleak, thank you
@jouest On a related note, this is my mascot at work. So cute.
@heartny @jouest TIL that dumpster fire figures are now a collectible fetching prices of $30 and up on eBay.
@heartny @werehatrack the beanie babies of a covid generation
Production went to 4 tens a few months ago. Fridays are a ghost town. Parking is easy though.
