@Kidsandliz Maybe, but maybe not. “24 can cooler”. Think about the size of 2 12-packs of canned soft drinks (or beers, for those people). A gallon jug of milk might not even go in comfortably. The inside volume is given, but not the dimensions. The insulation and lining probably take up a fair amount from those outside dimensions.
Probably be good enough if your goal is to get bags of frozen peas or corn home though.
@Kidsandliz We do just that! My spouse and I keep a soft-side, rectangular-ish cooler (not today’s fancy one, but some cheapies we got from a big-box sporting place a decade or two back) in each car and put “cold” grocery items in there for the trip home from the store.
Something about that damn zipper has me worried. I once got the beans above the Frank stuck in a zipper. Since then I only get top notch zippers. Ya know!
FWIW I own a yeti soft cooler. And an Rtic soft. And one of the better (cost more than $50) Walmart soft ones from 2 years ago.
I do light use (car, picnics, xporting ice cream, trips, etc)
The Walmart is a basically just as good as the other two for my habits.
If you want a yeti, get that. And have confidence there’s no better consumer-grade cooler on the market right now.
If you’re going bow hunting or similar, get the best hard cooler that lots of $$$ can buy.
For normal daily use, this is fine.
Right now I take the Walmart softie for 300 mile trips in Texas summer weather. Cold drinks and blue ice from my freezer.
Stop overnight, usually leave cooler in car. Then drive home.
I need a lightweight cooler capable of holding a couple or more bottles of wine that I keep stockpiling from Casemates for outdoor concerts, etc. The ones I still have are not that tall and I have to tilt the bottles. This looks like it will fit the bill! I watched 2 videos on youtube, and the first (link below) shows the unpacking (lubricant provided for the zippers). The 2nd shows the inside capacity fairly well. I’m in.
@Fitzythecat if you want to prechill it, either add sacrificial ice that you will dump out before filling the cooler, or some refreezable ice packs. Add those a couple of hours before you need to put stuff in it and the insides will be colder and less melty to your new ice you add when filling it.
Or just fill it up and dump in ice like the rest of us who can’t be bothered to plan ahead.
If you have a freezer big enough to just put coolers in, you could do that, and we should talk because I need some stuff stored.
@werehatrack …unless it’s a Yeti, but then you are paying for it saying “Yeti” on it. And proud of it! (and if you got for $99 it was a steal, or counterfeit!)
@pmarin I tend to avoid buying things that are status-symbol branded. I cannot be said to be immune to vanity (and I have the scars to prove it now) but I’ll be damned if I can see spending that much more for no significant difference in utility in normal use.
Yeti is really wonderful for people who actually need it
It’s probably still the best made of all of the similar high end coolers and the high in coolers for the group are 10,000 times better than the cheapies.
It’s like in the old days when everybody wanted a $5000 SLR camera because it was cool
Some people needed one could justify it the rest of us just lost it after one and wished we needed it
If you spend enormous amounts of time outdoors in rough country, or on a boat or similar, especially if wildlife might try to get into your stuff or if you need ice to hold for days and days the yeti is worth the money
Most people just want something that has the word yeti on it
The soft side yeti I own was a gift because I liked my nieces husband so much
But he was an avid hunter and used his hard
Until I got one and I’m quite pleased with it but a $50-$100 Walmart one would’ve done as well
@rjquillin mine arrived today. Six typical 750ml bottles fit standing upright also champagne bottles, with plenty of room for ice but not ice packs on top. The standard bottles could squeeze in horizontally without tilting. The main zipper worked smoothly but took some effort. I’ll put some of the included lube on it. As the last post mentioned, the sealing seam on the back is not the prettiest but i supposed it will do the job. This cooler fills a niche for me! No regrets (yet). LOL
Got mine in today, looks pretty tough! There’s a little bit of sloppy seaming (don’t Southernize that) on the back side, but it feels pretty stout. Be sure to lube up the zippers, they are a booger the first time you open it.
If I had to predict the failure point for this it’s likely to be the zipper where the pull attaches. If the zipper is being stubborn that pot metal is going to get some stress.

Coho? Is that like… hiring a second hooker?
@awk
This would be useful to put frozen food in coming home from the grocery store when it is 104 degrees outside and 2000 degrees inside my car.

@Kidsandliz @phendrick I guess I’m one of “those people” and like my beers colder than room temp

I could use a cooler right now but come winter I’ll be wanting a warmer.
@hchavers I’ve used coolers to keep the fastfood warm on the way home. It’s excessive, but so nice for any of the fries that aren’t eaten on the way.
Something about that damn zipper has me worried. I once got the beans above the Frank stuck in a zipper. Since then I only get top notch zippers. Ya know!
Got one in my size? Can it be zipped and unzipped from the inside? Or does it have arm holes?
I’m fricking tired of this heat!
[Summer is unfortunately only about half way over.]
The dog is pestering me for her walk, and it is still 91 degrees out there! And no breeze, unless the dog pants on me.
@phendrick Hmm… Dog pants.
/giphy dog pants
Costco item. Great cooler. Had it for 4 years. I paid about $45 IIRC.
@ksujeff99 does it hold up with the Yeti soft coolers?
@jwoody27 @ksujeff99

So, for the $, this is a decent deal.
Wtf. I just paid 49.99 on side deals to get the IRK, and the IRK really was crap. I got taken twice!!!
@mbeachs The Regret is strong with this one.
/showme instant regret
@lichen That command doesn’t work in a reply; regret increased.

How the hell do you make it COLD?? Do you have to put the whole damn thing in the freezer, or what??
@Fitzythecat Liuke any other just-an-insulated-box “cooler”, you need ice; dry, blue, whatever.
@Fitzythecat if you want to prechill it, either add sacrificial ice that you will dump out before filling the cooler, or some refreezable ice packs. Add those a couple of hours before you need to put stuff in it and the insides will be colder and less melty to your new ice you add when filling it.

@djslack
Have you compared notes with our resident refrigeration enthusiast, @shahnm?
@djslack @werehatrack Look this is simple. If you have enough room in your fridge(s) to fit this, you just do not have enough batteries.
Cool beans!
I will note that Woot is peddling a similar unit made by Igloo for an un-cool $99 at the moment.
I cannot conceive of a reason why I might spend that much on an insulated flexible compartment of that size.

Can’t fit multiple 750ml wine bottles in; pass…
cans are for kids

@irenegade Damn…
Guess I should have jumped on this one.
Sounds like nice size that would indeed fill a niche need, well, perhaps a desire.
tnx
Do not want to pay a $5.99 membership fee.
@Sineath You can choose the $6 shipping option instead

@djslack Just musing: Why do metal pots tend to last, but pot metal is such crap?
@djslack Ansewering@phendrick Because it has gone to pot?
This thing is ‘Huge’. Great buy. Will take it on my next 12 hour shift.
