depends on the chore. i hate to vacuum or otherwise clean the floors (but i still do it), and i have some old windowsills that have really needed scrubbing for…,idk, a few years? don’t ask about the clawfoot tub that’s basically impossible for me to clean, either.
but everything else, pretty satisfying to clean and a relaxing activity for me. i like to listen to this american life, but also enjoyed the first season of serial, shittown, and welcome to nightvale (and alice isn’t dead). i used to housekeep so i went through most of the npr or npr-adjacent podcasts. that gig ended awhile ago though, and shortly after the podcast world exploded so i’m a bit out of the loop. a friend just gave me a list of her favorite true crime ones because i’ve started to get back into listening vs having the tv on at home.
For a few years now I’ve used a robot vac, a shark vac, a shark cordless vac…
Last weekend, I pulled out my big, corded, bagged, Eureka out of the closet, plugged it in, started it (it had been so long it smelled at first when it started) and it took me a third of the time to do the entire house. And it did a better job, too.
Great to listen to my music while the maid vacuums with a Shark.
@hchavers Do they both do the same room?
All chores are better with YMH! Home here now, keeping it high & tight.
@msqaf00 I guess I’m the only one that listens to the podcast, YMH (Your Mom’s House). Oh well.
Love cleaning and making things nice, but I get frustrated cleaning up after roommates from time to time.
I only enjoy cleaning and listening to great music while I do it when no one else is home.
It is a pain in the ass when someone is home and will not stop talking to me while I clean.

@lisaviolet I don’t believe you. Can you come over to my house and prove it?
@therealjrn I’d love to, but I have this little cough…
@lisaviolet Thanks anyway Lisa. :hand_wash:
