10Poor Hoverkid, he got socked hard! This one wasn’t a huge surprise considering all the sock chatter we’ve seen over the last few years. Funky Socks walked all over the Hoverboards, winning handily (footily?) 28 to 7. They’ll be up against Comforters in the epic battle of polyester vs. cotton (and other assorted fabrics).
Today we’re back to the heavyweights. A contest between two favorites, Contigo Bottles and Bubba Bottles. You may be wondering why I didn’t just group these as one item since they’re both drinking vessels. I’m pretty sure you’ve been dwelling on this question since I first posted this tournament. You may have even been thinking about it long before that. What’s wrong with you? That would be weird, why would you do that? Geez, get a life already. Wait, where was I? Oh yeah, is it going to be Contigo, maker of super useful, yet often complex ways of consuming hot and cold beverages? Or is it going to be Bubba, which you may have very well bought just to run your own experiment since you didn’t believe the dulcet tones of @matthew verifying their amazing insulating power in this video: https://meh.com/forum/topics/pure-science-bubba-24-oz-vacuum-insulated-bottle-test-1 Turns out both brands are actually pretty damn good. Dangit. I chose poorly. It was a real toss up going in, so unless there’s a cadre of Contigo lurkers, this one is over.

I bought a Contigo at the local Peets when they first came out cuz it was so nice looking and I liked the clever little button thingie. That was until I tried to clean it after using it for coffee with cream and sugar or fruit juice, so I just use it for water.
Now I see from their website that they’ve changed the lid design so that it can be opened up to get all the gunk out that used get trapped, so maybe not so bad, altho that is a lot of extra engineering just to get a drink.
I’ll stick with the more straightforward Bubba if only for the friendlier name …
@stolicat That’s always been the one complaint about Contigo. The green one I posted above is nice and easy to clean but I know a lot of people don’t like the autoseal mugs for that reason.

I think we can wrap this one up, but I’m not going to. As per my (lack of) sleep, look for the next match once again around 6 am EST. Maybe the Contigo Fan Club will show up overnight and fuck with our heads.
