If I had a wife… I think the hair in the shower would be one of the lower level compliments.
You could just do some manscaping and leave it for her if you wanted to make a point but… Really? 2 seconds to grab it on your way out. Dumb thing to worry about.
@unksol No, sorry, you’re wrong, it’s not something trivial. Leaving hair in the drain is something strictly prohibited by the Geneva Convention. I’m pretty sure its the reason for half the people who are in Guantanamo Bay, why they’re really there.
@OnionSoup like when we were kids. And it was my sister’s hair. Ok. Clean your own shit up.
If it’s the kids bathroom. They better clean it.
If it’s the master bath. Fuck it. Take 2 seconds. On your way out to sweep the drain. Id probably be touching her hair every day anyway. Sometimes in the shower
@OnionSoup@unksol My wife and I have a sophisticated shower system - we kick the hairball away from the shower drain to a corner. Then every other Tuesday the house cleaner deals with the slimy blob.
@macromeh@unksol pretty similar to us, only we don’t have a housekeeper, so we just wait until it looks a bit like a drowned rat and then one of us eventually tosses it, depending on who had the tetanus shot most recently.
@OnionSoup@unksol This thread unearthed an old memory. About a year out of high school, I was sharing an apartment with a friend. He was always leaving a glob of his curly blond hair in the shower drain and I complained about it many times, to no avail. So I started removing the slimy hair glob myself, but I used his toothbrush to snag the clump and drop it in the wastebasket. He never had a clue and I got to have a secret retributive chuckle. (And I wisely stored my toothbrush in my bedroom.)
I have one. It’s not really gonna replace a sticky-tape fur remover for clothes or such like I had thought, but it works amazingly well on furniture, comforters, etc.
@xterraguy yea. It’s not for clothes. You have to have a firm level surface and a fixed fabric. It’s good for furniture to keep it off your clothes. An old fashioned lint brush works better for going out.
LOL, I was going to point out that a lot of similar items went out in IRKs… and then I read the limitations, which are basically any solid/ semi-solid surface.
So I guess it may help with bedding, if you never wash your bedding?
@brainmist It helps with the daily deposit of fluff, if your pets lie on the bed. Or couch, or chairs. It’s really very effective and I love not having to throw out all those little sheets of sticky plastic.
@brainmist I don’t know what your sheets/blankets are made of but PLEASE tell me if the hair all comes out in the wash. I would pay a lot for that.
This is because both my couch that has a hair resistant blanket is constantly covered in hair. Every day. And when I wash things it doesn’t all go away.
Getting hair out of the sheets… If you let them look the bed. Granted I have a more… Intense… Problem than most people.
@unksol I suspect it’s less what the sheets are made of, and much more what the current dog is made of, which is short, stiff hairs.
With the chow mixes? Yeah, those incredibly fine undercoat hairs were impossible to entirely catch. Every now and then I STILL find one. My last chow died 11 years ago.
@cinoclav@magicminis meh sold the off brand with the frog eyes before. They were fine. I think the original is better. But they are probably all from the same factory so… IDK. Temu one looks suspect. The quality of the lint brush is what makes it work. Everything else is basic plastic
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I actually have one of these I bought about 2 years ago–same brand and all. I love it. I use it on cat beds, my bed, couch, blankets, etc. Sticky rollers are probably better for clothes simply because they’re more gentle, but this is amazing for anywhere fur collects. It’s fast too! I can de-fur my whole couch in a couple of minutes.
@arysta yea these aren’t good for clothes. Standard lint or silicone or tape brush. But for furniture/sheets/blankets. It’s great. I try to hide my clothes from the fur cloud.
I for sure needed this. Cat insist on lording over me by sitting on my chest and getting pets (ofc I oblige) and i always have to use a cheap reusable one I have. This looks like a much needed upgrade lol
@user39688052 just fyi this doesn’t really work well on clothing especially while worn. A standard lint brush (same material just not the back and forth bit. Not the tape ones) works better for that.
@user39688052 I have no idea what’s up with the Amazon link. Can’t be a referral cause I went straight there. Tried to get the off it. It does that for that one no matter what. Standard red lint brush not the tape junk.
Thanks for the recommendation! I have a brush similar to that one, but it has a little housing where you can clean the brush off. But it doesn’t have anywhere to hold the picked up hair. That’s the main thing that I got this one for. I’ll definitely be using it on my couches and everything else, and I might pick up one of those brushes since it’s only $4.
I love how well the ChomChom works but one thing that drives me nuts is the placement of the button to open the roller. Instinctively I want to put my thumb there for leverage and invariably I end up popping the thing open mid roll. Holding it with my thumb positioned differently is uncomfortable for me (joint issues) so I end up not using it unless I really have to. Other than that it does an amazing job of picking up my Penny’s fur, which I swear is barbed because it hooks into car fabric and does not want to let go.
I discovered the other day that this is great for NON-pet fur lint as well. I washed a cotton blanket that produced the most lint of anything I’ve ever owned! The lint was thick on the dryer lint catcher and all over the blanket even after 2 rounds in the dryer. So I used one of these and here’s the results:
(It’s weird how the lint is just gray with no lavender color to it!)
@Kyeh
Thanks, it’s so sharp, it’s nice!
I just got a Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra and I haven’t tried the camera. This is my first expensive phone so my fingers are crossed…
@Lynnerizer Wow, brand new, latest model? I got this phone as a refurb and several models behind the latest. I hope you love yours! I bet the camera is fantastic.
@Kyeh Yeah I really dusted off the wallet and loosened the purse strings on this one! And I still got a really good deal with over $400 off! At first I had buyers remorse but that only lasted about 3 seconds, then I saw the difference between higher end and budget phones. Even the way your fingers move across the screen is so much smoother. I’m a detail person so it’s the little things I notice. The only reason I even got a new phone is because the battery was swelling on my 2021 Moto G stylus, the camera was terrible on that one but I did love the phone. I’ll be thrilled if my new camera is half as good as yours though. I’ll be going out over the weekend so I’ll try it in natural light. I’m not sure I’d ever pay as much as I did for this one but at least I’ll have something worth trading in.
@Kyeh Well I missed that opportunity! I was in so much pain pictures were the last thing on my mind. Hopefully I’ll feel better this week when I venture out…
My partner has one and I was blown away by how well it worked. It requires a little bit to get into a rhythm using it, but once you do it is magic. I just bought one for myself after having envy for over a year.

CHOM! CHOM! CHOM! CHOM!
@yakkoTDI indeed
Can I use this on my wife before she gets in the shower and leaves hair everywhere?
@OnionSoup Probably not if you want to continue calling her your wife…
@OnionSoup @sarahsandroid Yes of course! Please let us know how that went. Or better yet, post a video!
@OnionSoup @sarahsandroid idk. Massage?
If I had a wife… I think the hair in the shower would be one of the lower level compliments.

Not worth a fight. In my humble opinion.
@unksol lol- we don’t fight about it, but I do often playfully tease her about it.
@OnionSoup @unksol My wife and I have a sophisticated shower system - we kick the hairball away from the shower drain to a corner. Then every other Tuesday the house cleaner deals with the slimy blob.
@macromeh @unksol pretty similar to us, only we don’t have a housekeeper, so we just wait until it looks a bit like a drowned rat and then one of us eventually tosses it, depending on who had the tetanus shot most recently.

@macromeh @OnionSoup @unksol Eeeuwww!
@Kyeh @macromeh @OnionSoup lol doesn’t have to get that bad but if yall like your shower rats. Go for it lol
I have one of these and it actually works really fucking well. nothing gets out all the dog hair, but this thing gets pretty damn close.
now, if I can just train the dog to use it…
@carl669 That’s easy. Apparently I need to train my fish to use this.
I have one. It’s not really gonna replace a sticky-tape fur remover for clothes or such like I had thought, but it works amazingly well on furniture, comforters, etc.

@xterraguy This is exactly what I needed to know, since I was considering buying it for my own hair which gets on all my clothes!
So, a Do-It-Yourself kit for building a new house pet?
(Should make the others jealous!)
Great write-up today!
@TimW we need to have a staff meeting about this one. ಠ_ಠ
LOL, I was going to point out that a lot of similar items went out in IRKs… and then I read the limitations, which are basically any solid/ semi-solid surface.

@brainmist It helps with the daily deposit of fluff, if your pets lie on the bed. Or couch, or chairs. It’s really very effective and I love not having to throw out all those little sheets of sticky plastic.
@brainmist Gross. PLEASE wash your bedding regularly. If it is hard to remember to do so, just add it to your calendar of choice. Here’s mine:
@brainmist @pchops Perhaps this should read, “annually on Jan 1 so you start the new year with clean bedding”?
@brainmist @pchops Assuming you just forgot to check the “All day” box ?
@brainmist I don’t know what your sheets/blankets are made of but PLEASE tell me if the hair all comes out in the wash. I would pay a lot for that.
This is because both my couch that has a hair resistant blanket is constantly covered in hair. Every day. And when I wash things it doesn’t all go away.

@pchops so did you read my comment at all, or just jump straight to the projection?
@unksol I suspect it’s less what the sheets are made of, and much more what the current dog is made of, which is short, stiff hairs.
With the chow mixes? Yeah, those incredibly fine undercoat hairs were impossible to entirely catch. Every now and then I STILL find one. My last chow died 11 years ago.
@brainmist relax, I was only kidding (I guess you missed the joke, but apparently some others didn’t)
Meh… I’ll take the similar Temu version for half the price including the shipping cost.
@cinoclav I bought some off brand Chom Choms from Amazon and they work maybe half as well as the real thing. Not worth it.
@cinoclav @magicminis meh sold the off brand with the frog eyes before. They were fine. I think the original is better. But they are probably all from the same factory so… IDK. Temu one looks suspect. The quality of the lint brush is what makes it work. Everything else is basic plastic

@arysta Thank you for your comment. I bought one on your particular endorsement and it actually works really fucking well.
Chiming in to say I have one and I love it. This is a good price for it too.
Reminds me of one of the all-time best dubs (NSFW!)
@mattig88 Came to post this.

This is excellent for furniture. Beds. Only way I could get hair out of my sheets cause washer/dryer doesn’t. Make the bed and go at it.

@jerminate The NOID!!
Pro tip: don’t try to skip a level and try to use this directly on your cat.
(Pardon me while I grab a band-aid… )
Ooo… “Name brand”/no ears. Fancy.
Did we really use the TV broadcast version for that last line though?
I discovered the other day that this is great for NON-pet fur lint as well. I washed a cotton blanket that produced the most lint of anything I’ve ever owned! @Kyeh Dang, that’s an amazing camera! What kind of phone do you have? And it is strange that the lint is gray. 🩶
@Lynnerizer Oh, thanks - it’s an iPhone 12 Pro Max.
@Kyeh

@Lynnerizer Oh, I just meant whenever you get around to it! Hope you’re feeling better?
Love it. I have a long haired cat. Works great, easy to clean out hair.
