18/10 by definition is NOT nickel-free. Eitheir they have provided an incorrect specification or rhey are misrepresenting the product; the two claims are mutually exclusive.
@werehatrack is absolutely correct that these contain nickel. 304 stainless steel generally has 8.2% nickel and they are allowed to call it 18/10 because it is more than 8% and the next grade is 10%. So 18/10 and 18/8 usually actually only differ by 0.2% nickel content. Even 400 stainless that is called 18/0 can have up to 0.75% nickel. My guess is they made some claim about not adding extra nickel to the 304.
I got these in the past & really like em! Stout enough to scoop some ice cream without feeling like they are going to bend in half. With that being said, the tops of the handles ARE pointy & can dig into your hand while scooping
