I love these things, but they just don't last long enough... I also love the effort by meh to get things into Mehmbers hands by Christmas with the two day shipping option.
I must say that listing these things so frequently before the holiday just screams "we bought too many of these things what are we going to do!"
In the end, it sure looks like the toy of the year was that bb-8 sphero, I'm just sayin'
I love the original CX10s. The camera one was not nearly as fun as I had thought it would be. The camera cuts out a lot and it generally flies much worse than the original ones.
$10 is a decent price. I just bought the Syma X11 which is slightly bigger but is a very nice quadcopter. I'm only learning so I like that the X11 has blade guards. I might buy one of these just for fun. I'm guessing the camera is crap so i'll save myself the extra few bucks.
@Stallion after browsing the Internet to see what $24 would get me the first time these camera optioned Cheersons were for sale, I picked up a Syma X5C-1 from a China third party on Amazon for $24. I still haven't received it a month or so later, so by comparison two days shipping and actually getting what you ordered is a huge bonus!
@mehdaf Good choice, seems like the X5C-1 is one of the best beginner quads, and you can't beat the price. My search a week or two back led me to the X5C-1 and I waited a few days to see if anything else was out there. I then found the X11 which I bought on Amazon Prime for $20 shipped quickly. I ended up grabbing an X5C-1 on Amazon for $48 with 2 day prime shipping. I was too impatient to wait for the shipping from China, but it will probably sit in the box for weeks anyhow. Definitely check out the X11 as another option, it has a blade guard so it is easy to learn indoors.
@mweinberger I've flown mine several times (1-3 min. per flight) and haven't filled it up yet. (Yeah, the video quality isn't Netflix, that's for sure, but it's decent.)
God I want to bite on this so bad, but I seem to remember reading they cut corners on the remote and repurposed some trim buttons to control the camera, so if your quad was drifting laterally you couldn't trim it out.
Can anyone who has the camera version shed some light on this?
@Stormchaser I have both the camera version and non-camera version and can confirm that they repurposed the lateral trim button to the camera control button.
@Stormchaser That was me who reported that on the video model, and honestly it's really not that big a problem with some practice. The trim on these things frankly isn't that stable to start with... but it doesn't drift very fast. Mostly you'll notice it tend to to keep drifting a bit whichever direction you moved it last. I fly it around the living room with no problems.
@shrike1201@kensey Thanks for the help, I've got a different brand of a same size quad so I'm not totally unfamiliar with their handling capabilities; hindsight being 20/20 would you two still recommend a purchase of the camera one?
@Stormchaser There's also a "calibrate" option on the remote for them and I think (not sure) that should solve trim issues maybe. I've been playing with the camera version for hours and hours and crashing it into everything, breaking the props and replacing them, and it seems to be holding up and flying pretty well considering the abuse. They're really tons of fun.
@lepak47 Admitting your problem is the first step, first step to realizing you are hardly an addict and need more, and can keep living in denial. Welcome, you will find MANY addicts here, but most are speaker dock, bluetooth speaker, or pocket knife addicts, but we can all relate to hitting the buy button.
@jzmacdaddy I've had four of the non-camera models, three of the four have had one motor or more stop working. Since I'm handy, I ordered some replacement motors (before popping the quads open) and found that when I opened them up, it was just a wire that had come loose on each one. 15 minutes and a couple drops of solder and all 3 are back up and running (one still acts a little wonky, so I'm thinking the gyro on that one is a little out.) While they aren't indestructible, with a little know how and a soldering iron, they are easily fixed. I also have several replacement motors, blades, bodies all on hand now (for less than $20 mind you) so they are very cheap and fixable toys.
@QuadrashockerGearBest.com; you can find stuff on Amazon as well, but these guys seemed to have better pricing and were okay with the shipping cost (I paid $0.45 to ship my order.) As with most of this stuff, it appears to come from China so it doesn't come quickly.
No, our custom code prevents us from offering options.
I'm a programmer by trade (a circus clown/jazz musician by heart). I do mostly internal work, and of course I never get specifics about what needs to be done; these are usually found out at the end of the project, when the real work happens.
Anyway, quite often I'll be looking at what specs I did pry from the maws of my coworkers^H^H^H^H^H^H^Hreceive and realize that I could include something extra. For instance, one field should be customizable, but another is static, yet it would be extremely trivial to allow customization on the static one. So I ask, "Hey, should I do X? It would be very easy, and you might need it later", and they go "Oh no, we'll never need X". I do X anyway, but I make the program pretend it can't happen. About 30-40% of the time they come back "Oh yeah, we could really use X now" and I get to look like a hero because the change, which sometimes seems complex, takes a half hour to do and push out.
Anyway, I have to get back to painting my human cannon, but long-story-short I think you should always code keeping future potential in mind; at the very least, don't write code so it's extremely hard to modify/expand.
@Tukaro I wholeheartedly agree with your software functionality approach, but can you please post a picture of your newly painted human cannon when you are done?!
@Tukaro I wholeheartedly agree with you. (I remember delighting a client in 1974 with such a hidden feature.) However, I don't think code is the major problem here. Unless it's code as in an honor code ("we promise to be a simple 'deal-of-the-day site' "). It's process - actually moving goods out of the warehouse - that gets more complicated. (See https://meh.com/forum/topics/faq )
Hell yeah, just in time for the gift exchange at work. windy-rigorous-nugget -- these things aren't rigorous and won't work in windy conditions, but they are little nuggets of awesome!
This is awesome, not long after making this video last night on my Cheerson CX10 C, my son burned up his motor! He was bummed, now meh saved the day by having replacements the next day!
Cubicle next to me has one buzzing me on a daily basis.... Now.... Let the drone wars begin!!! Can I have mine fitted with a laser instead of a camera?
Has anybody tried a larger SD card in these? Did it work? (I'm guessing the reason they cone with 2-GB cards is because they don't support SDHC, so 2 is the biggest they can go unless you have a rare 4-GB non-HC card... but hope springs eternal!)
@kensey In an attempt to add a bit more confusion, when I stick the "2GB" card that came with the ones from the previous sale, my computer says they are 4GB. I just successfully used a 8GB card in one, even though I have never taken videos that total more than a couple of hundred meg without having to charge anyway. They are fun!
Please put up a bigger copter that can carry my JBL speaker dock. I want to to scare the shit out of my neighbors by playing Flight of the Valkyries while buzzing them.
@Perkalicious@wolper the top comment on every product thread is the specs post. If there are a bunch of comments, the specs post gets hidden with the rest - click "show all" and you'll find what you're looking for.
Happy those that want them are buying them, but I'll be happier to not see any more of these guys for a while. Really kills the anticipation when you see them so often. (And yes, I've bought both types myself already.)
@2meh I see someone one else decided to do the "I wonder how high these things can go . . . " Luckily I managed to drop mine and power it back up at the last second to save it.
BEST GIFT EVER--if you want to make a kid cry because it stops working after about 5 flights, but it was really fun while it lasted. First our remote stopped pairing (common problem), but I finally got it to pair (slightly involved button maneuvering thing I saw on the internet); then one rotor stopped working (wire came loose). I'd rather pay a little more for the Syma. Meh's warranty--so far--non-existent.
@HawkgirlDC What do you mean by "non-existant" for the warranty? Have you written into meh.com/support with your issue? They take 1-2 business days to respond.
This ought to be proof that people want the expedited shipping option. Since it takes two weeks (minimum) to receive an order, Christmas mehs have to be done by now.
@coldcraft I guess it depends on where you live, the quads I ordered last week showed up on Friday (so 3 days) but I'm in Texas so, yeah, they are right up the road from me.
@kmearsvickmeh.com/orders to see if you can cancel your duplicate orders. If that doesn't work, click the button below your order that says, "I need help with this." Don't be alarmed if it takes a few days to get back to you, CS's turn-around time is 1-2 business days.
November 30th: Meh sells a Cheerson 10X-C quadcopter (with camera, no SD card) for $15, promising to raise the price they next time they sell it. December 14th: Meh sells a Cheerson 10X-C quadcopter (with camera, no SD card) for $16.
Hey Meh do you offer any sort of buyer protection on these? I bought your 10C a couple weeks ago, then the normal 10 after that. The 10 does this thing where it hits the ground then goes into this crazy DEATH FIT where it stops listening to the remote, and every rotor goes into full speed - like beyond full speed. Seriously the thing heats up. Have to carefully pick it up & turn it off to recover.
@mehmongrel The top post in every product thread is the specs post. It's got all kinds of handy information in it - from shipping dates, to what's in the box, to warranty coverage. If you don't see it, there were so many comments that it got hidden with the rest and you can click "show all" to see it.
To find a product thread for something you ordered: go to meh.com/orders and find the order you have questions on - then click the green button that says "Discuss my rad purchase" - it'll take you to that product thread.
If mediocre or meh are the warranty coverage - shoot a message to them at meh.com/support with the details. They'll reply in 1-2 business days and take care of you.
Now - that death fit... does your copter have the camera? I'd love to see a kamikaze copter...
Mine already shipped. Am I in the twilight zone???
You guys weren't kidding about the 2-day thing. I assumed 2-day shipping meant you'd take the usual 3-4 business days to ship out and just use two-day shipping instead of the typical 10 day dumbpost, but this is impressive. Shoutout to the warehouse workers for pulling this off! :)
I don't see a weight on these. how much do they weight flight ready so I know if I need to buy a license before flying. Registration starts December 21st, for those who don't know. https://www.faa.gov/uas/registration/
@ACSmith AA battery weighs about 20 grams or so, so you need a fleet of about a dozen interconnected CX-10Cs before you need to register. They are considered "toy" class.
OK, so today I received the previous CX10 (with camera) that I had ordered. Charged it up and got it airborne. Gotta do some learning but this looks like fun. So I couldn't help myself and I bought two more without the camera. I'm fearful of the image that might appear, though. unhappy-naked-wax Google, what have you done?
@OutbackJon I purchased 9 of the non-camera ones before. Then 3 of the camera ones. Then three more of the camera ones on this sale. For ~$15 each, they take remarkably good video, especially in indoor spaces where they don't compete with wind. However, flight time is about 2-2.5 minutes because of the itty-bitty teeny battery. Luckily, they are great gifts to throw at people (not literally), and are basically disposable.
@mstamm Apparently (assuming these are the same as last time) the card is in the reader, and the reader is hidden under some sort of plastic tray in the packaging. Totally possible that yours is actually missing, but a lot of people thought they were missing last time when they were merely hiding.
@brhfl Thanks. I was wondering the same thing. Since my copter is black, and the pic above says black includes the SD bundle, I assume the SD card/reader is hidden away in the package. White elephant gift so don't want to open it.
I actually hopped on here to say what mstamm said, but reading the reply already on here, I opened them up to look. I found the card and reader taped into the tray that holds the controller, charging cable and spare blades that is hidden in the bottom of the packaging. So thanks @brhfl for the info.
ok. in one of these cheerson threads, someone (can't remember who) gave a list of tips on flying these things. but, i can't seem to find the post. anyone remember where it was? i'm giving one as a gift and wanted to include a printout of that list.
whoever finds it gets my eternal gratitude.
(note: your definition and my definition of eternal may differ)
@kuoh agreed. but to novices like me, they're probably more useful than actual flying tips. at least in the beginning when crashes happen all the time. and thanks for putting the list together!
We've had a few folks reach out to us to let us know that they were unable to find the SD card and reader so we thought we'd post in here where you can find it:
The micro SD card is inserted in the adapter which is taped in the plastic mold (underside) holding the quad and remote.
@ogalvan Open the individual boxes from the bottom - more likely than not all three contain an SD card and card reader. If you already did this and have checked, then, well, never-mind, and do as @carl669 suggests.
sent photo as requested. Neighbor took it for me as I explained. Really do not understand why you guys are so uptight about a silly SD card. You must be from New York.
I just now thought of someone I could give one of these to. Meh, you tried your best, and I didn't listen. Oh well, guess it'll be an after Christmas present next quad copter Monday.
@Ranger363 You can check your order status at meh.com/orders click on your tracking number to see if the issue was with the shipping company or something else, then at the bottom of your order click "I need help with this" and let support know that your copter never showed up.
Ok, so we ha e a couple of shelties so most of the time when the Cheerson lands on the floor, excitedly or unexpectedly, the props pick up dog hair. You can try and grab the hair with you fingers and pull to remove. Not easy. It's easier to remove the props, but then they seem to be loose on the shafts when reinstalled. I can put new props on, but it happens too frequently. Any ideas other than vacuuming or sweeping frequently?
@Stumpy91 Practice landing on clean elevated surfaces, shave the dogs or put them up for adoption? Spinning props and hair are just never going to be compatible.

Quad deal
@AttyVette Would you say it's quad a deal? I know, I'll go sit in the corner that was bad.
How many of these things do you guys have?
@densa all of them
@densa Fourteen, not counting the project builds that are in process.
Oh, wait, you meant 'how many does Meh.com have?'
Ya, so... uh... this is embarrassing...
I love these things, but they just don't last long enough... I also love the effort by meh to get things into Mehmbers hands by Christmas with the two day shipping option.

Fly by night deal well maybe fly by day would be smarter
I love the original CX10s. The camera one was not nearly as fun as I had thought it would be. The camera cuts out a lot and it generally flies much worse than the original ones.
Multiroror Mondays!
@ruouttaurmind heyyyy..... (I will assume you meant Multirotor Mondays)
Ok fine, it's a thing now. Do I get credit?

How's that?
Oh...
"As always, Meh for no mention of Drone.Horse, and because it flies, this is a @ruouttaurmind approved deal."
@ruouttaurmind I was just thinking that if MrM became the new SDF they might send each of us one of them for getting it started...
Alas, they probably don't have enough of these to part with two of them, you know they just might sell out... :D
@ruouttaurmind Just another Manic Multirotor Monday!
I don't know how many more of these I can buy, but hopefully they are still for sale next year
Buzz off -- well I think that's what the Christnas tree would say--course the trees spokesman would come from its local BRANCH
Too much choice. Head esploding.

@Stallion You can pick up blade guards and extra blades for just a couple of bucks.
@Stallion after browsing the Internet to see what $24 would get me the first time these camera optioned Cheersons were for sale, I picked up a Syma X5C-1 from a China third party on Amazon for $24. I am still waiting on my quadcopter order from 2 weeks ago.. This is a better deal, but alas, I must pass. Shipping is getting worse and worse for me.
Meh. I got about 5 flights out of mine before it wouldn't fly anymore.
@jzmacdaddy that's a bit low, but to be sure, these things are not indestructible. Nearly all of mine have stopped working correctly in some way...

@mehdaf A magician does not reveal his secrets (did I mention I was a magic clown?)

Where does one buy 2 GB or under micro SD cards anyway?

@atannir Here. And you get a free quadcopter with each one.

@MWM Oh man. So, anything you can fit into the same space/weight parameters is a possibility... dare we speculate on laser-aiming the camera?
@kensey That's a fantastic idea. Wonder how well they'd fly if I just crudely taped a laser pointer to one

@wolper thanks! Exactly what I was looking for. Clearly I missed it looking on my phone.

Thought of these last night while I was hanging Christmas lights. I could totally light that big maple tree with the help of a the right drone.
@SeeAManAboutA @shawn Probably by design, but when I change my username at Drone.horse, it changes here too. My pun doesn't play here.
@JerseyFrank definitely by design. Your login is the same across all mediocre sites.
@JerseyFrank certainly a by design thing - there's enough schizophrenia around here on solo usernames without multiple usernames proliferating. ;-)
Prefect timing, the last one I had broke (after falling from ~ 75 feet).
![Poor Ralphie][
@HawkgirlDC What do you mean by "non-existant" for the warranty? Have you written into meh.com/support with your issue? They take 1-2 business days to respond.
@Thumperchick They did re-contact me and made it right. Thanks. :)
outbound-discreet-silk
@mmichalka That is some crazy $hit
This ought to be proof that people want the expedited shipping option. Since it takes two weeks (minimum) to receive an order, Christmas mehs have to be done by now.
@coldcraft I guess it depends on where you live, the quads I ordered last week showed up on Friday (so 3 days) but I'm in Texas so, yeah, they are right up the road from me.
Everyone knows the true test of any drone is how well it can exercise a dog. So here you go... 10/10
@jgwidmer I tried that with my dog, and he tried to eat it.
@2meh yes, mine lasted about one second after takeoff before being attacked. it survived though!!!
...meh. i've ordered one every week. i don't think that's very efficient.
jerky-airborne-space
@quimming m m m homemade jerky!
i order this but for some reason it placed 3 orders
can this be fixed to just one order
@kmearsvick meh.com/orders to see if you can cancel your duplicate orders. If that doesn't work, click the button below your order that says, "I need help with this."
Don't be alarmed if it takes a few days to get back to you, CS's turn-around time is 1-2 business days.
November 30th: Meh sells a Cheerson 10X-C quadcopter (with camera, no SD card) for $15, promising to raise the price they next time they sell it.
December 14th: Meh sells a Cheerson 10X-C quadcopter (with camera, no SD card) for $16.
You win this time, Meh.
How long is the flight time everyone? Some people say 3 min and the site said 10
@thej421 You might be comparing the two different models? The model with the camera has significantly shorter flight time…
New batteries in it every time I am or are these rechargeable?
@katpa73 Controller takes AAAs, quad has a little bitty rechargeable Li-Ion.
Please send two different colors on my order for Brad Nelson
@computerdawgg that's not at all how this works.
@liz Mine shipped (as in actually picked up and it's on its way), too, and should be here Wednesday. Nicely done, Meh.
I CANNOT STOP BUYING THESE THINGS!!!
galvanic-penultimate-bath
@Marion14505 what the fuck
@cutroil Seriously, right?
Here's an idea. Attach a sprig of mistletoe and fly one at holiday parties. Hammacher Schlemmer is charging $70 for such a thing.
excellent deal
I don't see a weight on these. how much do they weight flight ready so I know if I need to buy a license before flying. Registration starts December 21st, for those who don't know. https://www.faa.gov/uas/registration/
@ACSmith A AA battery weighs more.
@Marion14505 Thanks I was trying to imagine what 250 grams vs this felt like.
I'm fearful of the image that might appear, though. unhappy-naked-wax
Google, what have you done?
@OutbackJon I purchased 9 of the non-camera ones before. Then 3 of the camera ones. Then three more of the camera ones on this sale. For ~$15 each, they take remarkably good video, especially in indoor spaces where they don't compete with wind. However, flight time is about 2-2.5 minutes because of the itty-bitty teeny battery. Luckily, they are great gifts to throw at people (not literally), and are basically disposable.
What the frequencies of the Cheerson Mini Quadcopter ? I.E CX-10, CX-10C & CX-10 SD.
@oneepat lately, about once a week. but i don't think that's what you meant by "frequency".
oh, and hello. i'm carl669. i'm a smartass.
Mine arrived here today, but the sd card and reader did not come with it..
(note: your definition and my definition of eternal may differ)
never mind. found it.
thanks @kuoh
@carl669 so you are now eternally grateful to yourself?
@carl669 Thanks for asking and answering. Did you happen to create a nicely formatted version of the tips? I'd be internally grateful to have that.
@thismyusername i've always been eternally grateful to myself. much better than self loathing.
@sligett here ya go. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/106487306/FLYING%20TIPS.pdf
@carl669 Nice work Carl, though I don't consider these as tips on flying as much as tips on how to minimize crash damage. :)
KuoH
@kuoh agreed. but to novices like me, they're probably more useful than actual flying tips. at least in the beginning when crashes happen all the time. and thanks for putting the list together!
@carl669 Thank you for the formatting work
We've had a few folks reach out to us to let us know that they were unable to find the SD card and reader so we thought we'd post in here where you can find it:
The micro SD card is inserted in the adapter which is taped in the plastic mold (underside) holding the quad and remote.
Hope that helps!
@MEHcus Just sent an email about this, please ignore as I'll look for it where you said. Thanks
I just received my order and I got 3 CX-10C but I ordered 2 CX-10C and 1 CX-10C SD.
@ogalvan did you contact support? probably the best way to get it resolved. at the top of the page, click Account->My Orders->I need help with this
@ogalvan Open the individual boxes from the bottom - more likely than not all three contain an SD card and card reader. If you already did this and have checked, then, well, never-mind, and do as @carl669 suggests.
Thanx, lookin forward to the smiles or frowns Christmas morning, let you al know.
Elvs in NC
sd card and memory did not come with expedite order...
@generaladjuster the comment a few posts above yours tells you where to find the SD card.
I mean USB
I paid for the cx-10c SD and got the cx-10c.
@Hfmoi See above
sent photo as requested.
30 days from when was told they were shipped and still no delivery. James Ferguson
@Ranger363 what does your tracking info say? have you contacted customer support? but most importantly, have you blamed @thismyusername?
@Ranger363 You can check your order status at meh.com/orders click on your tracking number to see if the issue was with the shipping company or something else, then at the bottom of your order click "I need help with this" and let support know that your copter never showed up.
@Ranger363 @carl669
This was a complete waste of money- the 3 guys I gave it to can't make it fly right! Warning to others- don't buy!!!
@dawnwalker or learn to fly.
KuoH
@kuoh That's a good idea. But until I get good at flying the thing I have to deal with sketchy control when fouled with hair.
@Stumpy91 Spare props are cheap if you're worried about them getting too lose from repeated removal.
