"One thing about these -- Cheerson cheaped out a little and repurposed the X-axis trim as the camera/video buttons, so if your copter has a lateral drift you'll just have to compensate with the stick, or adjust it some other way."
@kensey Ok, what does the buttons in the middle do then? it says in the manual 'forward/reverse' but they don't seem to do anything other than make the controller beep. I already broke one blade because it's so hard to get it just stable.
@Tom The rocker in the center is fore/aft trim, but like you I've noticed that the copter is not super-stable (even if you trim it out it tends to still drift). It does seem to help (though it might be total placebo effect) to run the calibration routine.
That said, I didn't expect too much for such a tiny copter at such a cheap price, and with practice I've gotten better at keeping it more or less where I want it to be. It handles a lot more stably once it gets out of its ground effect.
@Tom Try recalibrating the gyro before flight.Place on flat surface. Turn on as normal after the controller is linked and you have the solid LED's on move the left stick to the bottom left move the right stick to the top left. Hold for a couple seconds and you should see the LED's blink indicating the gyro has been reset. It helped mine a lot.
how does this respond to the wind? I was going to use it to get a birds eye view of the local rail yard. also is there a live video feed or am i only able to review the video later?
@thomasaelliott Just practice first. Handles breezes OK but flight time is short and control range is iffy, I wouldn't go anywhere but straight up so you don't lose it when it drops out which is what happens when you get out of range.
@robson you should be canceling it if you don't use any of the benefits for 28 days*... that way you get the $5 back, add it on next time you want something.
@rafaelg You get the $5 back if you didn't use any VMP benefits for that month - if you ordered in the last month, you used your benefit and would not get the refund.
@Pavlov Yes! That's why it's the Cx - 10 and not the CX - 10C, I believe. Thanks for making it even easier for people to see the difference in the model.
If they include an SD card next time, it will definitely cost more than now. The only way it could cost less is if they don't include the remote control or don't include propeller blades.
So anyone get this last time and try one of the cages or the 4 little wing guards to see if it works with them on... also are these a bit easier (due to weight) to fly than the non-camera ones? I don't care about the SD... but I think I'll pass again. I was really hoping for Cyber Dock monday...
@sohmageek Seems the same as far as flying goes. But this only weighs 3g (25%) more than the cx10 without camera and flight time is significantly shorter, so I'm not sure about strapping extra things on it.
@railek Gearbest LOL.....oh no you de-ent ! Buy one here because you may never get that Gearbest one or maybe you will in February or March of some year
Got one of these the last time they came on here. idk if i got a dud or what but it never stays in the air for more than a minute and wont even take off if i try to fly it more than a couple minutes after being plugged in to charge...
@Nemesis158 Eh these little guys are kind of hit or miss. Back when those micro choppers were the rage i bought several of them (the little foam planes too!) Some would be awesome and fly around all good. Some would suck and fly like crap or just flly for a minute or 2. I bought this one cause video is cool but I wont cry if it sucks.
I got this last time. Little thing is hard to fly, but still working at it. I can't tell if the charger is broken or if the battery is just really that small. Maybe flies for a minute, sometimes it doesn't seem like the battery charges.
Got one from the last sale, but was out of town and just got around to flying it now. Maybe I was lucky or was just more careful getting mine out of the box without bending the props, but mine flies very stable and didn't need any trim. The first charge didn't take very long and lasted exactly 3 minutes without video. This is slightly less than the 4-5 minutes I generally get from the standard CX10. It also loses more altitude when performing flips, so you have to be quick on the throttle if you start the maneuver too low.
About the only issue I have is that the remote doesn't beep when any of the buttons are activated, despite what the manual says. Not a big problem, but can cause confusion on whether the camera activated or which flight mode is active.
I dunno, you could sell it for $16 tomorrow and $5 the day after that, right? It'd be a little bit more interesting if you said, "After today, we will never sell this product for less than $20."
Or "After today, we will never sell this product again."
Or "After today, we will employ an army of bots/Mechanical Turk employees to buy every unit of this product available anywhere, and assemble all of our drones into one enormous mega-drone that will be used to firebomb the Cheerson factory, ensuring that this product will never be sold again."
I love the original ones. And I got the camera one last time. Wasn't expecting much and it was still a little disappointing. The video cuts out regularly. Doesn't fly as well as the non-video ones.
@Thumperchick there's nothing to fill in, no form, just a blank space. Anyway I just hit purchase anyway to see what happens and it acted like it went through. So we'll see where they send it. Maybe it got auto filled from my last purchase.
I'll probably end up going through the trouble of contacting my bank and starting a chargeback on these assholes since I bought one last week for $8 more on here and it doesn't even work. They keep ignoring my emails too. What a joke. Amazon wouldn't do this. I was an original backer all the way from kickstarter. This is what they do to their early adopters..
@movich Check your order history. I've had issues with products here in the past, and was frustrated that I seemingly never got a reply, but they actually did issue the refund, maybe they were busy. Look at the total for that item in your order history. Otherwise try halp@meh.com as well.
@movich Meh doesn't usually ignore emails. Have you checked your spam folder? If you emailed Thursday, you should see a response today or tomorrow. They can take 1-2 business days to get back to you, especially since we're coming off of a 4 day holiday weekend. Was this the case? (The one last week had an SD card and SD adapter included in the price, which is part of why it was more.)
Multiple order bug - got the green bar for a few minutes, then "Something went terribly wrong", tried again and it worked. It was weird enough that I checked my orders last night and saw only one. This morning another order appeared; somehow the "terribly wrong" order went through.
@PocketBrain you could crack it open and take the motors off and just use the video and battery portion, that's not a terrible idea. You could also use it for a couple of weeks first, then when it stops flying well do the same thing, which is a slightly better idea.
@edheil There are a few things beginning quad pilots should be aware of.
Place the quad on a steady level surface when powering on. The gyros may not calibrate correctly if started on a slanted surface.
Move the controls gently, especially the throttle. I can't count how many times the beginners I let try my quads just go full tilt as soon as they touch the remote.
Keep the nose pointed in the direction you're looking. Many beginners forget that control inputs need to change when the nose is pointed in other directions.
WHEN you lose orientation, stop applying directional input and reduce throttle quickly to land, but not so fast that it falls out of the air like a rock with a video camera attached.
Just before it hits the ground, cut the throttle completely. The same applies if it's headed into an imminent crash with some object. These props are actually durable enough to survive 5 foot falls or higher, even on hard surfaces, but some people's instincts are to just let go of the controls and leave the throttle at the last position. This keeps the blades under power and causes them to break when they hit something hard.
Check for hair/carpet fibers caught in the prop shafts when it is unable to take off in a level manner. I'm sure some of these may have minor trim issues, but overall, they are actually quite stable and can hold hover with very small drifts when indoors.
@lisaviolet Thanks for the link. I wouldn't have thought to look for replacement parts for something so cheap. Most of the time, parts cost more than the whole item. (Ever tried to buy a replacement shovel handle?)
@walarney You're welcome, although I didn't come up with that, it's in one of the other threads. (I did put in an order for more since I'm giving a couple of these away for Christmas.)
after all the bitching meh does about black friday ( even going back to their time at woot) they still screw up.
so yes black friday sucks with corporations getting their jollys on by watching poor people fight for cheap crap but meh did nothing about it.
you fight the crowds by staying home and spending time with your family and taking five mi utes out to shop online..... so what did meh do...? nothing they put up two old items on bf and then today.
i say dont bitch if you arent part of the solution
@msujp Brick and mortar sales on Black Friday fell from $11.6 billion in 2014 to $10.4 billion in 2015, according to the retail researcher ShopperTrak. Sales on Thanksgiving fell from just over $2 billion to $1.8 billion. Both decreases are attributed to the increase in online sales, the Associated Press reports. Meanwhile, online sales jumped 14 percent on Black Friday from 2014, bringing in $2.72 billion altogether. The increase came during a week of online sales and promotions leading up to Cyber Monday on Nov. 30, forecasted to be the biggest e-commerce sales day of the year.
@msujp It's always Cyber Monday here. At least, that's the goal - to have an awesome closeout deal, every day. Their solution to the problem is to not play the game.
This thing is seriously fun - I get 4-5 minutes of flight time per charge, and it charges again in 10-15 minutes. I even bounced it off the neighbor's roof yesterday without any damage. Flying it is definitely a learning process, but I'm really enjoying this.
@RDW0409 convoluted is the right word. I think the raw videos are mjpeg format, which doesn't work right with anything. I took it off the SD card, ran a conversion to mp4 in windows movie maker, then dropboxed it back onto my phone to post to Instagram.
Short-ashamed-crack. Bought one the last time and it's been a blast- only fear is that by the time I get decent at flying it, the thing'll have busted from all the practice crashes! So I buy another one today, call it one $40 nanoquad with free crash insurance (assuming I can recover the SD card from the inevitable wreckage of the first one).
These are serious fun, but they're delicate. I bought two during the summer (sans camera), and my two college kids had them inoperable within a week due to multiple broken props, one broken case (the part that houses the four motors), and, uh, landing in the dog's water dish. We only flew them outside, but they need to stay away from asphalt, walls, and branches. Life expectancy goes up dramatically by keeping them in contact only with grass. But they're highly maneuverable and controllable with patient and practiced hands. Don't willy-nilly pass the controller around a group of newbies. The 14+ age recommendation is accurate only if accompanied by good hand-eye coordination.
@brakeforbeer I've had decent results with newbies by splitting the controls at the beginning. I start with them on the pitch/roll (right) stick, while I control the throttle/yaw (left) stick. This way, I can keep it from getting too high, nose pointed properly and initiate emergency landing when necessary. Once I see that they have learned reasonably good attitude control, only then do I let them have throttle control and constantly remind them to be gentle and keep the nose pointed away. Even my 10 year old niece had no problems getting it down in a couple of days and performing flips with no issues. Ofcourse it helps if the kids are used to dual stick controllers like the Xbox or Playstation consoles.
bought one then cancelled muahahahaha cause its not cheap enough and 1 out of the 2 i bought of the non camera ones doesn't work for more then a few seconds at a time
@ctom3 No, but mine from the last deal came with a 4GB card. However, you only get around 2.5 minutes of flight time per charge and that results in only a 75mb video file, so even a 1GB card is more than sufficient, unless you just like to keep lots of old videos on the card.
As an aside, WTF is up with this website. I don't come on all that much anymore, but whenever I do, the connection seems to time out. Are there still gremlins in Meh's network?
@username I wish they would 'last call' it again...I wasn't sure about it when I purchased it but now that I have it, I'm having too much fun with mine...
@garyhgaryh We're a daily deal site and this is now yesterday's deal. As we said in the story, we'll probably sell this again fairly soon, just for a little more money.
I got mine today but I can't get the remote to pair with the copter. I turn on the remote and the center LED flashes quickly, but there are no beeps (the manual says there's supposed to be beeps). The copter just sits there blinking away but the rotors never spin.
I tried doing the down-up-down pairing despite the lack of beeping, but still no dice.
@bonkey Unfortunately I tried with fully charged batteries and still no dice. I'll try with packaged alkalines tomorrow, but I'm not holding my breath on this one.
@bradandcoffee I have hope. The first set I tried were unused but laying around, so may have been low. Rechargeables have lower voltage than alkalines and many products won't work with them.
@bradandcoffee mine seems a little finicky at first then i found the pattern. turn on the quad, then the controller, wait a second, then throttle up and down.
@bradandcoffee For anyone following along at home - I got alkaline batteries today and there was no change. Same issues. So here's where things take a turn for the worse...
So against better judgement I decided to open up the controller and see if anything was loose. Well, nothing was loose... but everything worked fine with the controller casing off! We have liftoff! So my conclusion is that the controller casing isn't allowing for the left stick to go low enough to allow for the syncing to start. A wiser man would have just RMA'd at this point, but I decided to carve off some of the plastic and get some instant gratification.
But that didn't seem to work. Everything is back together and still no sync. Remove the case and suddenly it syncs again. Cut off more plastic. Reassemble. Still no sync. Case off again... and one of the wires connecting the battery terminal snaps.
Now I've temporarily given up until I'm motivated enough to get out the soldering iron. The controller case is now too disfigured to return so I've got to solve this issue myself.
@kuoh I tried quite a few times with the throttle all the way down, and pretty much in every position the throttle can be in. I discovered that it will beep and the light in the center will slow down if I push both of the center buttons at the same time and hold them down for a second, but I'm not sure what that does. Doesn't have any effect on the connection.
i'm starting to think i got a bum unit. it always slides sideways even then i used receipts to make a flat surface and recalibrated it. i can make it slide the other way after recalibrating.
then when i try to do video it just comes out as a garbled mess of random pixels in movie player. will try next video in vlc
@thomasaelliott You do know that there are different props for each side right? If you replace a CW with a CCW prop or vice versa, it will dance around like you described, but never get off the ground.
@thomasaelliott I saw a video where a guy's did that, he had to put it on the ground and press (left-down) on left joystick and (up-right) on right joystick, I think, to re-calibrate the autobalancing gryo.
Flies great, lots of fun, but I can't get the camera to work. Does the MicroSD card have to be blank or formatted in some way? When I put the card in and turn the copter on, the top led blinks once as expected. But pressing the photo & video buttons doesn't elicit any further blinks from the copter. (the controller beeps on each button press) It's a 32GB card which is all I have at the moment.
@noahd Thank you. Also, for any lost souls with the same stupid problem as me, if the SD card doesn’t go in, like, ALL THE WAY, it isn’t in. Upside down and all the way in. Works like a champ now.
The transmitter on my first one just died in the middle of a flight and no longer turns on. The LED indicator does not come on and the aural alarms do not sound anymore. Thought the batteries may have died, but after swapping them it still did not turn on. This happened only after a few successful flights.
i don't think i'll ever get mine. at first FedEx had it and tracking showed a delivery of the 7th ot so. I took screen shots of all this. Then it just kind of moved around my city and for some reason it was transferred to UPS. Well UPS Never showed a delivery date but did indicate that it was being sent to USPS for delivery. USPS eventually got it but did not show a delivery date. Until yesterday! It ws to be delivered TODAY, bells jingled, trumpets sounded. Well it never showed up and now guess what? The tracking number is no longer valid at USPS. So i think im getting the screw job on this one. My mailman's kid will be flying my drone xmas morning haha. I have a screen shoy of every step but the number being gone because that finally defeated me. I'll have to think long and hard before I order from Meh again.
@aerosquid My wife had almost the exact same experience with an order, but our's showed up today. A lot of weird shit happens at the holidays between FedEx and the USPS. It got so bad last year that FedEx stopped transferring packages to the USPS for a time and started delivering parcels to the door themselves, converting them to ground shipments. If there's a verifiable anomaly, write customer support and they'll do everything they can to make it right. Meh has some really awesome staff. There's still time to get you one before the holiday. Plus, it might show up on Monday - one never knows with these things.
@aerosquid Couple things - Give USPS another day for delivery. They mis-scan stuff all the time. Also - I'm confused as to why you're clearly assigning proper blame to crappy handling by the shipping companies, but this would stop you from ordering from meh again? I don't get it. FWIW - I've had a TON of orders through Amazon this month. More than half have been late, 1 was delivered to the wrong address and required a replacement, and as we speak, another is delayed because it spent the weekend in FL. It's December. Shipping companies are overloaded and screw up. I hope your copter show up. If not, send a message to meh.com/support for help with your wandering package.
Looks like mine is stuck in FedEx -> USPS limbo. Both agree and say that "Shipment information sent to U.S. Postal Service" but USPS hasn't actually received anything yet.
It's been stuck like this for a week now, since the 9th.
@The_Tim My package is coming to NJ. It was in Philadelphia, then got sent to friggin West Virginia for some reason. I still haven't received anything. SmartPost is usually bad, but not THIS bad.
@sillybb Bummer! You should write in to meh.com/support and let them know the issue. They take 1-2 business days to respond, so it may be Tues or Wed before they can get back to you after the weekend.
Wrote to MEH support. Last week and then again tonight. No response, but it's Christmas so they may not be working or might be swamped. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. Or, I hope someone sees this here, as I'd just like to get resolution. Ordered three of these. Two were given as gifts. Both worked flawlessly. The third (which I kept for myself) has a problem with the transmitter - it cuts out intermittently causing the quadcopter to crash. I can bind it to of the other transmitters (I've bought three of the regular CX-10 - two given as gifts and one to keep) and fly it, but I don't have a transmitter that can trigger the photo and video operation.
@tommet They work M-F, 9-5 and take 1-2 business days to respond, as a general rule. I'm not sure when last week you wrote in, but there were a few holiday days in there slowing them down a little. I'm sure they'll get back to you next week.
Yes, I bought three too. One of the camera is not working which is a gift for my father, so I gave the good one to him. I still haven't got any reply yet. Hope we get responses soon!
I just gotta say that this thing has been a blast. I'm soooo surprised I haven't broke it yet. I thought I did once because one prop wasn't spinning as well as the others, but removing it and replacing it fixed it!
I wish it would hover in place easier without moving in any direction and I wish I could make it turn so I could change which direction the camera faces. Maybe I just don't know how to fly it. It's too loud for spying in the showers though. Added bonus: Our cats hate it.
@medz left joystick, aside from controlling throttle, moving it left/right should make it spin so you can change where the camera is facing. i remember the ones without the camera do that. is that what you mean?
@carl669 Yeah. Maybe my left stick is just stuck, but I can't get it to go left/right. I can click it to change the responsiveness of the controls, but seems to only go forward/back. I'll give it a little more force tonight to see if I can get it to budge before breaking the stick.
@medz yeah. it definitely takes some getting used to. i still end up throttling up a bit when i spin. not nearly as bad as i used to though. when i first got the thing, i constantly ran it into the ceiling when trying to spin.

Price is getting better......but lacks a memory card?
@Stallion Better pick it up now.
"But if you don't buy it now, it'll be more expensive next time"
@lichme Meh can say that however they want.....but we've seen empty promises here so.......
Meh- deal is up in the air
Props to @AttyVette .
I would definitely feel less guilty about my purchase from the last sale if it had been this price.
Edit: Oh, no micro-SD/adapter this time.
Hmmm, mine haven't even been delivered yet and the price dropped already?
Meh i have no pun for this
@CrossIT Better buy yours quick, these things are flying off the shelves.
@lichme Turn them off, please
Meh...it'll probably be on sale next week for $8.
@densa Yeah, but then it won't include the remote control.
@Tin_Foil That's okay. I already have two.
Price is Meh today, when it goes on sale for a higher price stones will be thrown!
For the "air" apparent
can i get a replacement since the last one i got only flies for a minute or so?
@username buy another one and fly for two minutes!
@DaveInSoCal hmm
@username just got mine today and flies for about 2 minutes... kind of bummed out as website says 4...
In for two! These are great stocking stuffers and white elephant gifts!
Just bought this last week for 9 bucks more....nice dick move
@somf69 no SD card this time.
@Collin1000 wasn't it a 2gig sd card? 32gigs on sale for $9 on amazon atm
I'll repaste my comment from the last sale here:
"One thing about these -- Cheerson cheaped out a little and repurposed the X-axis trim as the camera/video buttons, so if your copter has a lateral drift you'll just have to compensate with the stick, or adjust it some other way."
@kensey Ok, what does the buttons in the middle do then? it says in the manual 'forward/reverse' but they don't seem to do anything other than make the controller beep. I already broke one blade because it's so hard to get it just stable.

@Ruger9mm Agreed, I do this before each flight now. Just make sure it's on a level surface first.
I don't remember getting an SD card last time but I'm in for another!
@Collin1000 check under the plastic tray in the bottom, should be a reader with a 2gb card in it.
Guess who's ordering new ones and refusing the other shipment.
Classy.
@haydesigner klassy like box wine in a blue solo cup...
I would buy one, but I still have an extra from the last time I ordered this thanks to a "card processing error."
How loud is this thing? Could it be easily heard while a shower is running? Also, could it be heard through double pane windows?
@medz My hero.
@medz I'll say "no" and "no" and wish you the best of luck, Mr. Tom. :)
it fits into an altoids tin.
adorbs.
I could "drone" on and one about how badly I want one.

how big a microsd can this thing handle?
@carl669 it doesn't matter, it's in the air for like 5 mins tops and the videos are super low rez with no audio.
@carl669 micro
@carl669 I think the dimensions are pretty standard on the MicroSD. Seriously, I saw a review on Youtube that shows a 32gb card in it.
@jmhsrv i meant capacity. (which @densa seems to have answered)
Way too fast resale..
how does this respond to the wind? I was going to use it to get a birds eye view of the local rail yard. also is there a live video feed or am i only able to review the video later?
@thomasaelliott i wouldn't take it out in a hurricane. but, in a light breeze, it does ok. you'll still probably need to compensate though.
no live video feed.
@thomasaelliott Just practice first. Handles breezes OK but flight time is short and control range is iffy, I wouldn't go anywhere but straight up so you don't lose it when it drops out which is what happens when you get out of range.
@djslack ok, plan was to go up and get an aerial view of the wastelands
@thomasaelliott If you sent this thing far enough away to get a birds eye view of the local rail yard, you'd never see it again. It's tiny.
Same shit, different day. About to cancel VMP
@robson you should be canceling it if you don't use any of the benefits for 28 days*... that way you get the $5 back, add it on next time you want something.
*28 has 2 days built in for procrastination.
@robson
@thismyusername If you cancel VMP before the month is up they refund $5, but then do they charge you $5 if you placed an order that month?
@rafaelg You get the $5 back if you didn't use any VMP benefits for that month - if you ordered in the last month, you used your benefit and would not get the refund.
Meh moth meh quad copter - a little flighty?
I hate the bigger versions of these things so I'm only buying one. waxing-luxurious-town

@LankHairdoo Now I know where my wigs went.
@LankHairdoo That's Chewbacca's life partner!
@LankHairdoo WOW...what search engine are you using...? It's definitely not Google.com.br !
@chienfou Just Google.com (US) I admit I had to scroll down a few screens past all the regular waxing photos though.
F-you Meh. I will not fall for your psychological head games. No sale. Go ahead...call my bluff.
Kinda excited to be that guy at the office.

Cheerson CX - 10 Portable 2.4G 4CH 6 Axis Gyro RC Quadcopter with Night Light
$15.99 w/free shipping
@tHumperChick - select USA warehouse from the drop down and the price is correct - but the model is wrong, no camera.
@Pavlov Yes! That's why it's the Cx - 10 and not the CX - 10C, I believe. Thanks for making it even easier for people to see the difference in the model.
I contemplated. I resisted. I considered. I fell.
Got this just now on gear best for $12.95 with free shipping. Booyah!
@railek No - you got ripped off - that model doesn't have the camera! Booyah!
@Pavlov rekt
KuoH
@kuoh Mine beeps when I push the buttons, so it's not an issue with all of them.
You guys are probably lying through your turkey-encrusted teeth.
...maybe...
...maybe not bluffing?...
...this is hard.
Any good deals to buy an SD Card for this one ?
@sagarvikani 8gb kingston on amazon.com for $3.78. (It's an add-on, though, you have to order $21.22 more stuff.)
Anyone know if these are legal to fly in Canada or Israel? I'm thinking about stocking stuffers for far-flung family.
@sligett They're more indoor type toys so it shouldn't be an issue.
@sligett Just don't fly it over Turkey.
I love the original ones. And I got the camera one last time. Wasn't expecting much and it was still a little disappointing. The video cuts out regularly. Doesn't fly as well as the non-video ones.
I'd love to buy one but the "where should we ship this stuff" line is empty and won't let me in.
@tallrob Are you trying to ship out of the US?
@Thumperchick Not unless Florida got the boot already.
@tallrob Can you describe exactly what is happening? Is it not accepting your address? Or can you not get into the form at all?
@Thumperchick there's nothing to fill in, no form, just a blank space. Anyway I just hit purchase anyway to see what happens and it acted like it went through. So we'll see where they send it. Maybe it got auto filled from my last purchase.
@tallrob Weird. Are you running a Ghostery app/extension? Or an especially aggressive adblocker? Perhaps a no-script?
I'll probably end up going through the trouble of contacting my bank and starting a chargeback on these assholes since I bought one last week for $8 more on here and it doesn't even work. They keep ignoring my emails too. What a joke. Amazon wouldn't do this. I was an original backer all the way from kickstarter. This is what they do to their early adopters..
@movich Did you try rebooting?
Maybe I'll get one of these and strap it to my big quad-rotor and use it in lieu of a GoPro.
@PocketBrain you could crack it open and take the motors off and just use the video and battery portion, that's not a terrible idea. You could also use it for a couple of weeks first, then when it stops flying well do the same thing, which is a slightly better idea.
I get 2-2.5min of flight time on mine while recording video...meh
If it's anything like the non-video one, then yes, it is too hard to fly, and yes, it will break the propellers when it crashes.
@edheil http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00PGRNFE0?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o05_s00
KuoH
@kuoh good tips. Thanks! Now post some videos so we can ooh and ahhh
@kuoh I think I'll print this out and put it in the box when I give one to my nephew.
@msujp
Brick and mortar sales on Black Friday fell from $11.6 billion in 2014 to $10.4 billion in 2015, according to the retail researcher ShopperTrak. 30, forecasted to be the biggest e-commerce sales day of the year.
http://time.com/4128592/black-friday-sales-down/
@msujp It's always Cyber Monday here.
Here's one of my more successful (though sadly no roof bouncing) flights so far:
https://www.instagram.com/p/-pJpwVkM9X/
@thunderclap8 nice job photo bombing your deck.
@thunderclap8 nice. What convoluted conversions did you have to do to get the video on Instagram?
@RDW0409 convoluted is the right word. I think the raw videos are mjpeg format, which doesn't work right with anything. I took it off the SD card, ran a conversion to mp4 in windows movie maker, then dropboxed it back onto my phone to post to Instagram.
@thunderclap8 geez. And I thought pulling the AVI into iMovie, exporting to MP4, and uploading to YouTube was a PITA.
@RDW0409 geez. I thought pulling out the SD card to watch it was a PITA.
@MrMark i uploaded directly from the SD card (.avi format) onto youtube.
wearisome-unnerving-show
Yeah, in for two.
Maxed out at three. Need these to look for squirrels in the attic. Can I put 5W lasers on them, too?
Congrats Meh. Looks like a $100K day!
Up, Up and away!!!!
in for two. should be fun, i can see it now:
"wow! i can see my disappointment with life from all the way up here!"
also, does anybody know where you can get an SD card camera like this, without the drone? just for parts, i mean.
@NAFderwin do you own a hammer and some duct tape?
Here's the crummy video from my first flight: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=v6vO1YX65Y4
There's also a couple good reviews of this thing on YouTube by much more experienced (competent) drone pilots than I am.
@RDW0409 I want to thank you for introducing me to "Crocodile Chop."
Tempted, but I'm going to wait until I can have an Amazon Prime drone deliver one to me, like it wants me to adopt its baby
@njd Especially if it drops it mid-flight and the tiny drone can fly down to you. The remote can follow with a little parachute.
KuoH
bought one then cancelled muahahahaha cause its not cheap enough and 1 out of the 2 i bought of the non camera ones doesn't work for more then a few seconds at a time
Any reason to think that the recording time won't double if a 4gb card is installed?
@ctom3 Recording time should double, but flight time won't.
@ctom3 No, but mine from the last deal came with a 4GB card. However, you only get around 2.5 minutes of flight time per charge and that results in only a 75mb video file, so even a 1GB card is more than sufficient, unless you just like to keep lots of old videos on the card.
KuoH
Geez, what did you guys do, fill in all the speaker dock holes in the warehouse with these?
Bought two for my kids. They'll love them :)
As an aside, WTF is up with this website. I don't come on all that much anymore, but whenever I do, the connection seems to time out. Are there still gremlins in Meh's network?
@jsh139 It's just you man. They mentioned that you're not here very often and programmed it to totally fuck with you when you decide to show up.
@cinoclav I KNEW IT!
I don't usually share these, but this one was too good to pass up.
Magical-shivering-pencil
last call, huh.. interesting precedent
@username https://meh.com/forum/topics/vmp-last-call
@username They did this for an item last week as well, as a new perk for VMP.
@username I wish they would 'last call' it again...I wasn't sure about it when I purchased it but now that I have it, I'm having too much fun with mine...
why can't I order one? or two? or more? It just has a link to amazon.
@garyhgaryh We're a daily deal site and this is now yesterday's deal. As we said in the story, we'll probably sell this again fairly soon, just for a little more money.
@garyhgaryh They are still available here: https://morningsave.com/deals/cheerson-cx-10c-video-cam-quadcopter-with-sd-card-bundle-2 (includes SD card)
most appropriate order random ever ...
divergent-photogenic-tortellini
I got mine today but I can't get the remote to pair with the copter. I turn on the remote and the center LED flashes quickly, but there are no beeps (the manual says there's supposed to be beeps). The copter just sits there blinking away but the rotors never spin.
I tried doing the down-up-down pairing despite the lack of beeping, but still no dice.
Anyone else have this problem?
@bradandcoffee I did. I opened second one and had same problem. I decided to try new batteries in the transmitter and voila.
@bradandcoffee Props for the investigative skills!
@bradandcoffee The battery wire should be easy to resolder. Did you check that the 2" antenna wire at the top of the PCB was attached and undamaged?
KuoH
@kuoh Yeah, everything with the antenna looked to be normal.
@bradandcoffee Controller didn't beep here either. Turns out it was just a dead battery.
Make sure the throttle is all the way down before turning on the transmitter. The pairing is just up 100%, then down 100%.
KuoH
@kuoh I tried quite a few times with the throttle all the way down, and pretty much in every position the throttle can be in. I discovered that it will beep and the light in the center will slow down if I push both of the center buttons at the same time and hold them down for a second, but I'm not sure what that does. Doesn't have any effect on the connection.
i'm starting to think i got a bum unit. it always slides sideways even then i used receipts to make a flat surface and recalibrated it. i can make it slide the other way after recalibrating.
then when i try to do video it just comes out as a garbled mess of random pixels in movie player. will try next video in vlc
update: playing them in vlc works.
@thomasaelliott The props could be bent. If they are not level it will slide or drift. Maybe replace them with the spare set in the box?
@braveit1 two props broke and had to be replaced but even when the props were new it slid. I'm thinking accelerometer error maybe?
@thomasaelliott You do know that there are different props for each side right? If you replace a CW with a CCW prop or vice versa, it will dance around like you described, but never get off the ground.
KuoH
@thomasaelliott I saw a video where a guy's did that, he had to put it on the ground and press (left-down) on left joystick and (up-right) on right joystick, I think, to re-calibrate the autobalancing gryo.
@trenton I've already done that a few times. I believe it is a fault in mine and am working with meh to get it replaced under warranty.
@noahd Did you put the SD card in upside down? That seems to be the trick for a lot of people.
@Thumperchick Aha! That worked! Thank you!!!
@noahd woo-hoo!
@aerosquid
Did you try to contact USPS (or Meh support) ?
The video is not working. Even we tried to take video while we held it on hand and not working. What did we do we wrong?
@sillybb Do you have the SD card installed? If yes, try putting the SD card in upside down. Really.
@Thumperchick I did. I just tested the other two I bought which have no problem. I think one is defective.
@sillybb Bummer! You should write in to meh.com/support and let them know the issue. They take 1-2 business days to respond, so it may be Tues or Wed before they can get back to you after the weekend.
Yes, waiting for response.
@Thumperchick Thanks! I hope so.
I don't remember getting an SD card last time.
@Nigel543 not all models are sold with an SD card.
@Thumperchick Ok,it seem that some phone has no SD card.
(TC edit - stahp.)
@Thumperchick that same spam radar bingo had on the Photoshop question thread is going off here.
@djslack yup. Link removed.
Yes, I bought three too. One of the camera is not working which is a gift for my father, so I gave the good one to him. I still haven't got any reply yet. Hope we get responses soon!
@sillybb CS can take 1-2 business days to respond.
I wrote to them on 25th and still have no response. I just submitted another one.
@sillybb Sometimes their responses land in the spam folder - is it there by chance?
@Thumperchick Thanks. Just checked and no luck.
@sillybb damn. You should hear back Mon or Tues.
@medz Hmm. It should move exactly like the right stick. That's a weird issue.
@djslack it works, but i get a lot more resistance on the stick going left or right. Very hard not to accidentally change the throttle when turning.
@medz yeah. it definitely takes some getting used to. i still end up throttling up a bit when i spin. not nearly as bad as i used to though. when i first got the thing, i constantly ran it into the ceiling when trying to spin.
I gave this as a gift to my work Secret Santa this year. Should I take it personally that he quit the next day?
@stardate820926 take the credit! Your gift was SO cool, that he quit his job to play with it full time.
