I've personally bought a dozen quadcopters (with and without cameras) from Meh. Someone else needs to step up and do their part to rid us of these things!
Although curious, I'm sure that I don't want to see what these words bring about in a google image search so I'll leave it up to those who are more adventurous.
I've bought both the camera and non camera version in the past. Even with the camera off, the non camera version seems to have a better battery life. If it's your first time flying I definitely suggest buying the propellor protector+ extra props for like 5 dollars on amazon/aliexpress. Adds a little weight to the copter but I feel like it makes it easier to fly and also safe if you run into a wall.
@warpedrotors Probably, I don't remember if the weight was a significant difference because I lost the video camera model as I lost orientation and eventually range of the device as it flew into a neighbors yard and into the pool. Then I ordered the non-camera model when it was on sale again.
@hoving You'd have more reason to complain if this was a $100 item and you were only saving 5%. But you're saving 20% buying it here which is reasonable savings.
@cinocla respectivly disagree. I'd buy it on amazon where if it was defective I could return it. For the 5 bucks that more I would have to pay there I would have that assurance. I'm not real keen on the crap these folks have been pushing anyway. Meh sucks just slightly more than WOOT!
@hoving Just curious... why are you here then? If you don't like the "crap" and you're clearly not looking for pleasant conversation or camaraderie, so what's the draw?
@Bandrik good tips, don't forget the calibration mode to reset the accelerometers as well.
"Read the manual on how to calibrate the accelerometer, (after pairing place on flat surface and push down left on the left stick and up left on the right stick at the same time and wait for the lights to stop flashing). Clicking the left stick until you hear one beep sets the sensitivity to beginner mode."
I see it had LED lights. Is that optional? I think this would be most fun if it can sneak up on people, so I definitely would want the option to have it be stealthy. Also, what was the price back in November? Same as now?
@Dizavid If by stealthy you mean "FSHHHHHHHHHFFHHFHHHHHHHHHHHHSHHSLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ" then yeah I guess they're stealthy.
But no, the lights are functional. They have blue and orange for front and back, so you know which way it's facing even from a distance. This matters for trying to control it.
If you REALLY want the lights off, you can always take it apart and disable the lights. Break them off, whatever.
I've got one of these, and it's been challenging but fun learning to fly it. Have other people gotten it to hover in place? I keep making little adjustments, and it's always moving in some direction.
@gominosensei I can get mine mostly stable. A couple tips:
Before you even turn it on, place it on the most level surface you can. While still holding it there, THEN turn it on. It calibrates level when you turn it on. Or so I've read.
You can make some manual adjustments mid-flight using the trim buttons, which in layman's terms adjusts what the drone thinks is neutral and counteract drifting when hovering. On the camera-less model you can trim forward/backward and left/right. But these only let you forward/backward because left/right instead controls the camera.
@Ignorant Thanks, I didn't think it would need much, it only runs about 2 minutes and it's a very low resolution. I wonder if it adds writing each time you use it , or does it overwrite the video each time?
@Stumann The copter creates a new file each time you start recording. You can start and stop recording several times during a single fight, and each time you start again it makes a new file with a new file name.
So my remote control was defective and the instructions are almost unreadable because they were clearly written by someone with a poor grasp of the English language. Damn. Whenever Meh gets me some working gear, can someone teach me how to use the thing?
Put a micro-SD card in the side if you want to take pics or video (gold traces face up).
Turn on copter.
Turn on remote.
Move left stick all the way forward and then back to pair the remote to the copter. The 4 corner lights will stop flashing when they are paired.
To fly:
Left stick makes it go up and down.
Right stick makes it go left, right, forward, back.
Button with camera icon snaps a picture.
Button with video camera icon starts and stops recording (flashing light on top of copter = recording)
Click in the right stick and push in a direction to do a flip in that direction. Make sure you have some height as the copter will fall a bit before righting itself.
To calibrate:
Turn on the drone and remote and pair them as listed above.
Move the left stick to the bottom left corner and simultaneously move the right stick to the top left corner. The lights on the copter will flash twice when you do this correctly.
To adjust controller sensitivity press in the left stick. The controller will beep to indicate sensitivity. 1 beep = less sensitive/easier to control. 3 beeps = maximum sensitivity/faster movement/harder to control.
You can adjust forward and back trim using the narrow button between the sticks. Left & right trim can't be adjusted because those buttons are used for the camera.
Recovering pics & videos:
Wait until the recording light stops flashing either when the copter's battery dies or you end recording with the button.
Pop out microSD card and plug it into your computer's card reader or an SD card adapter. Videos and pictures are in labeled folders and are in mp4 and jpeg formats respectively.
I had absolutely no interest in quadcopters before getting this thing. Now I am kind of hooked trying to master flying it. Once I do, I'm going to get a larger quad for outside. Surprised how reasonably priced a lot of them are.
I'm having no shortage of issues with this thing. I think I may actually just need to get a refund. See, even indoors with zero wind, I lift this thing off the ground and it won't stay put. It won't maintain the same level in the air, and it keeps wanting to move in a certain direction without any input from me. I must have gotten a bad one. At first I thought I had a bad remote, but now I think my copter is bad.

Second
@mehhead did you mean first?
It's funny, I would have bought a second midland action camera tonight... But put a similarly crappy camera on a flying device and nope, I'm out...
i thought these being on morningsave meant WE WOULDNT HAVE TO SEE THEM ANYMORE
@Crud
@Crud They aren't on Morningsave anymore. BTW- prepare yourself for the onslaught of fitbit knockoffs, as they aren't there anymore, either. O.o
Fly by night ER day sale tonight
They're back!!!
Quadcopter Monday!
I have one and they are really fun, especially with cats lol
Where are the ones without cams!!! Dammit
And where are the cameras without rotating wings?
@retroblue On sale at banggood for $12.99:
http://www.banggood.com/Cheerson-CX-10A-CX10A-Headless-Mode-2_4G-4CH-6-Axis-RC-Quadcopter-RTF-p-956936.html
I have the non-camera model and got my money's worth and then some.
@Stallion i got a camera one for xmas... The looks on my cats faces is the best lol

No way! Now this is unique Meh. I've never seen this before....... Enough with the mini quads that break within 3 hours.
@thismyusername Or any of the bazillion other awesome toy copters available.
fearing-gripping-love
Although curious, I'm sure that I don't want to see what these words bring about in a google image search so I'll leave it up to those who are more adventurous.
@dlowther11 it's amazingly pretty tame stuff... top hit is a romance novel....
@thismyusername so you're saying it was even worse than I feared
Why does this show up 8 times a month?
@completewally My theory is that some meh buyer accidentally added 3 zeros on the end of the quantity when ordering.
The real answer is most likely, because they sell.
@completewally because all of the knives are on back order.
sell these as a bumdle with a baseball bat so we can have fun to. #FreeGoodIdead
@Crud I've found that one of the more enjoyable activities in the world is pairing Nerf guns with flying RC's
@dlowther11 thats a great idea. meh plz
I pushed the meh button last night yet my streak and calender have been reset. Now I am sad. Meh pls love me
So close to a year :(
But just to say something about the product; they're fun to play with. Remote is so so.
Finally bought one :-)
I've bought both the camera and non camera version in the past. Even with the camera off, the non camera version seems to have a better battery life. If it's your first time flying I definitely suggest buying the propellor protector+ extra props for like 5 dollars on amazon/aliexpress. Adds a little weight to the copter but I feel like it makes it easier to fly and also safe if you run into a wall.
@rapiollymega Wouldn't the better battery life be due to the fact that the non-camera version doesn't have to lug a camera around?
@warpedrotors Probably, I don't remember if the weight was a significant difference because I lost the video camera model as I lost orientation and eventually range of the device as it flew into a neighbors yard and into the pool. Then I ordered the non-camera model when it was on sale again.
Was hoping for the non-camera model but these are fun too, once you accept the shitty battery life.
minty-buff-uranus (heh heh)
These are a virus. Antibiotics are futile.
do these shoot in Super 8 or 16mm?
@jmhsrv They shoot .32 H&R Magnum.
These things are horrible. Not worth $4.
Good lord, how many of these things did you guys buy?!?
Multirotor Mondays!
As always, Meh for no mention of Drone.Horse, and because it flies, this is a @ruouttaurmind approved deal.
PS: @JonT, Send me one of these and I'll include it in my drone.horse camera comparison series.
@ruouttaurmind I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but dude @JonT doesn't work here anymore man...
@mehdaf Dang. I guess I gotta hang out in the forums more often...
Stop. Stop. Stop.
Does it record sound?
@ojohn Just an annoying drone.
@ojohn Video output: 640 x 480, 30fps, MJPEG (no audio)
@ojohn the soundtrack is open to your imagination.
Oh wow, I'm saving a whole 5 bucks by buying this crap on meh instead of AMAZON with free shipping. Got to do a lot better than that MEH!
@hoving You're not going to get any quality posts here either with that attitude.
@hoving Just curious... why are you here then? If you don't like the "crap" and you're clearly not looking for pleasant conversation or camaraderie, so what's the draw?
I bought two camera-less ones on morning save. One has a broken wire, the other is on a neighbor's roof. And now, like an idiot, i want to buy more.
meh.
@chacham it would kinda be tricky to explain how that drone got on the neighbor's roof. Next to their teenage daughter's dormer window.
@RedOak It was the wind. I swear!
I have a bunch of these. They're actually pretty awesome.

This shit again? I already have three mini drones.
At least put up a hobby level one for those who have moved on a year ago.
@msujp Only three? I gave away four of these last month.
moar drones!
I see it had LED lights. Is that optional? I think this would be most fun if it can sneak up on people, so I definitely would want the option to have it be stealthy. Also, what was the price back in November? Same as now?

"Your color options"
Hmm, I don't see a person of color modeling them. RACIST!
@xterraguy As a person of color I am mehfended!
I bought three last time. They're fun, but but sure to buy a pile of extra propellers; we break one about every five minutes.
trained-knitted-pilsner
Why couldn't I resist this? I think I need help. Seriously.
@InspectorGadget You have a very lazy cat.
I've got one of these, and it's been challenging but fun learning to fly it. Have other people gotten it to hover in place? I keep making little adjustments, and it's always moving in some direction.

Hope this helps!
Should be a fun distraction for my kids.
Why did my Meh button reset like I didn't hit it for a day? I see that other people had the same experience. Correct this please?
@bsci87 That happens when you don't click it hard enough. CLICK LIKE YOU MEAN IT!
@DaveInSoCal That's what she said...
standard shipping means?
@buva7687 Usually that’s Smartpost or Surepost.
This will come in handy to scare the ducks from the bird feeder!
Still mad they didn't have the basic model without the cam.
So, anyone got some fun suggestions for what to do with this thing when it presumably comes to my house on Monday?
I'm guessing it takes a MicroSD card. Any idea how big a card I will need for video?
@Stumann Meh, got mine also and no SD card... Pretty lame MEH!!!
@snoopercooper
Doesn't say it included an SD Card
@stumann when they sold these including the SD Card the card size was 2 gig so I'd think that'd be a fine size.
@Ignorant Thanks, I didn't think it would need much, it only runs about 2 minutes and it's a very low resolution. I wonder if it adds writing each time you use it , or does it overwrite the video each time?
@Stumann I'm thinking it creates a new file name each time.
Maybe @kuoh can let you know for sure.
https://meh.com/forum/topics/cheerson-cx-10c-video-cam-quadcopter-1#565cc7b9cdb3a5cc0f6b2f91
@Stumann The copter creates a new file each time you start recording. You can start and stop recording several times during a single fight, and each time you start again it makes a new file with a new file name.

@whacko Thank you, that is much more clear and even more concise.
