If the price goes any lower, it can't possibly be by much. If you want another, grab it. But do you really need/want another? (says the guy with 8 drones)
Yea i've been wanting a Phantom for a while but decided to just go with a solo. But at $275 i figured this will be a good device to learn on and hopefully by the time it decides to fly away, i'll have some quality experience under my belt so that I can then go out and by a solo.
@ruouttaurmind Yea the biggest thing for me on the Solo is the fact that the flight data is actually saved to the controller and not the quad-copter. That way in cases of fly-aways, 3DR is willing to provide a replacement as long as you can show it wasn't pilot error. Plus i've heard nothing but horror stories when it comes to DJI's customer service.
@bigjajapoof Better still, 3DR is a USA based company with US based contact for warranty and customer service. I've tried to deal with DJI customer service and support... they usually defer to "community based" support. What? Make your customers responsible for supporting your products? Really?
@ruouttaurmind Actually believe it or not I did. The wife surprised me for our 5 year wedding anniversary with the Solo and Gimbal. But to be honest i'm afraid to fly it as i'm still not 100% comfortable flying the Phantom and with the GPS issues i've been reading with the Solo i'm even more nervous.
@bigjajapoof Congrats on the Solo, but more importantly, congrats on the 5 years; that's WAY better than any drone!
I've been lusting after a Solo for months now and I'm looking for someone who has one for feedback. Sounds like I may be a bit premature in asking for your opinion. :-)
@ruouttaurmind Yea, I have a buddy who has one and has flown it a few times (sans gimbal) i'll ask him to give me some feedback that I can share with you here.

@bigjajapoof I've been reading quite a bit about the Solo too. I'm looking for a bargian on an Iris+, waiting to see some reviews for the Solo.

@bigjajapoof Pulling out this old thread to ask: didja wind up with a Solo?
