Celebrity Crushes....Got one?
9So I was watching Jack Reacher (1 not 2) and decided I have a crush on Rosamund Pike (also a past Bond girl).
Ohhhhhhhh, and I have to add Eva Green to the list too…
So does anyone have any celebrity crushes?
Warning: All crushes posted have to be over 18 yrs of age (yes, even if you are from West Virginia)

I’m just going to leave this here…
How can you not be in love with Felicia Day???
@conandlibrarian Why am I not surprised by the library scene?
@conandlibrarian She’s one of the mads in the new MST3k!
Not sure these are crushes. But …
There are people I really like watching on the screen.
Ellen Page
Marion Cotillard
@f00l
These scenes won’t make any sense if you have not seen Inception.
Just assume that little is as it seems, and there is some degree of in-universe awareness of that.
Not going to spoil that film so just see it.
In these, just look at their faces.
@f00l Inception - Marion Cotillard
@mfladd
Yes.
Also have to add Cobie Smulders.
Rosamund is an odd one for me. She’s gorgeous, but has those psycho eyes.
@KittySprinkles
Why do you think I like her.
And Eva Green is just a freak. Cobie is my cute pick that I could turn to the dark side.
@KittySprinkles So who is your crush?
@mfladd Eva is rawr.
@KittySprinkles
Yeah kinda.
All these have that something.
I could watch Marion all day. she’s one of those who can play emotion across her face, and always seems to be slightly out of reach, but coming closer.
Magical as an actress.
@KittySprinkles Well said.
I can’t stop. Alison Brie. Funny and hot.
@mfladd Kat Dennings. That is all.
@KittySprinkles
Does she have any outstanding features?
@f00l You have a good point. She has two. Actually, her personality is what makes me crazy about her. Her body is what makes me hate her a little.
@KittySprinkles Yup, she was going to be one of my next. We are on the same page as usual.
@KittySprinkles Hello, ladies!
@PocketBrain
Those ladies wouldn’t give you a second look.
@Barney I’m not sure what’s going on there but I’m pretty sure I now know I’ll likely be spending my Saturday afternoon trying to replicate that experiment…
@ruouttaurmind It’s my crush on root beer.
Edit: Don’t hurt yourself.
@ruouttaurmind Put a small amount of boiling water in can, flip over into ice bath. Easy peasy. Let us know how it goes.
@Barney Most of us understood. It’s better with vanilla ice cream though.
@Barney
OMG!
Didn’t see it either!
@Barney FTW! Purple!
/giphy "purple win"
@sammydog01 @Barney
@sammydog01 @mfladd Root beer and vanilla ice cream, we call that a black cow.
@sammydog01
I understood @Barney’s intention, but… science AND mayhem? With the added benefit of having to drink a root beer first? How could that NOT be fun?
/giphy science and mayhem
@ruouttaurmind You cannot stop by in this thread and not leave without posting your celebrity crush below. It is required!
@mfladd
Also calling out @Barney
@f00l Whaaaa? I gave you my crush and I’m stickin’ to it.
@Barney
There is something or other - or someone or other- that you like to look at or think about during your enjoyment of your primary “crush”.
Can you share?
@mfladd Currently between crushing on any particular celeb at the moment. Honestly.
I used to be smitten with Vida Guerra. Then I thought about making a @ruouttaurmind sammich with Amy Adams and Isla Fisher. I moved on to Scarlet Johansson or Christina Hendricks (this was all during my "redhead phase obvs).
These days… meh. Nobody is that interesting to me at the moment. I wanna have a bromance with Mike Rowe. Does that count?
@ruouttaurmind He’s ready
And I like the Isla Fisher call.
@mfladd I dated a couple redheads during that phase and those experiences caused me to stereotype all others as “loads of fun, but scary psycho nutcases” just like Isla’s character in Wedding Crashers.
My buddy is adamant that “the girls seemed quite normal BEFORE dating you, so maybe you need look elsewhere for the explanation dude”.
@ruouttaurmind I don’t see much science but the mayhem is adorable!
@sammydog01 I revised that post about a dozen times waiting for giphy to gimme some gold, but when I saw the piggy mayhem it made me smile, so they stayed.
@ruouttaurmind Some stereotypes exist for a reason.
@ruouttaurmind
@PanHeist
Since the gene for redheadedness is more or less recessive, natural redheads are at some risk of incurring declining population percentages, as cross-genetic-group bonding increases.
There is some society somewhere that wants redheads to marry only redheads, or those who have proven close redheaded ancestry, so as to maintain the numbers.
Perhaps redheaded persons are responding to perceived extra-attention given to them - and the perception by others that they are not quite as normal as others. Or perhaps they are responding to the perception that they likely come from Scottish, Irish, or similar cultural backgrounds, and those nationalities are thought of as a bit hotheaded, so there may be a built in expectation.
Or perhaps, since they know everyone kinda excepts them to be lively or crazy, they are free to play that role to full effect and to their own advantage.
Or perhaps they’re selected by as attractive by people looking for “adventure” and they respond to that potential stereotype.
Or perhaps a bunch else, including that redheadedness means something concrete in terms of emotions and risk taking. Though kinda doubt that.
I personally think the more complicated explanations are more fun. I like thinking of redheads as playing us for the dupes of cultural expectations that we may be.
Of the 6 redheaded near relatives in my family, 5 of them are the most calm and level-headed among us. The 6th seemed to have lived by the philosophy of a slightly-drunk, rather large Leprechaun with a license to practice law.
/giphy redheaded
@f00l All these pics of beautiful redheads is reminding me why I found them attractive in the first place.
RE: Why I’ve encountered so many “lively” personalities amongst redheads… Please note: I openly admit I have only a VERY FUNDAMENTAL understanding of genome, genetics, chromosomes, DNA, etc. So forgive me if this is woefully inaccurate.
Although it’s generally accepted that behavior is a result of environmental, not genetic influences, I assert: hereditary predisposition can potentially be a factor. For example, in the redhead genome MC1R, a mutation exists which causes low concentrations of eumelanin. This in turn results in fair skin, explaining why so many redheads are both red headed and fair skinned.
Not a hypothesis, only sheer speculation… Perhaps a separate mutation in the same MC1R genome can cause the body to produce excess Cortisol, which in turn causes the production of elevated levels of adrenaline. Excessive adrenaline most certainly can cause stress and aggressive, or even erratic behavior.
Of course if you ask my buddy, he’ll tell you they were normal, sweet young ladies when I met 'em, and it was me who drove 'em nutty.
{creeper pic removed}
@ruouttaurmind How old is she? You maybe in an age violation situation here.
But she is beautiful!
@ruouttaurmind
You know way more about genetics than I.
Not redheaded, tho have a bunch of red and strawberry blond ancestors and relatives. So I might have some of that. And I have very fair skin.
And I might have excess cortisol. And I am demonstrably “not sane”.
Are you giving me an excuse for every possible lame or stupid move I may ever commit? Great!
Fuck the Twinkie defense. This is way better.
Sherlock Holmes dealt with his “Red-Headed League” but he’s kinda scarce right now except on TV, he’s just a big-brained narcissist. I always knew he was into his own PR.
I am thinking “criminal possibilities” here. After all, it’s only what people expect of my kind.
@mfladd That’s what happens when I post pics without my glasses on.
@ruouttaurmind
You know who she is?
@f00l Nope. Rando pic from the interwebs.
@f00l Google Images was able to identify the photographer (Anna Gusarova) but not the subject.
@mfladd cripes. She looks 20 without my glasses, more like 12 when I can see.
@Thumperchick, is it possible for you to remove the inappropriate pic I inadvertently posted?
@f00l lol what the hell game is that with a purple rabbit jumping through skeletons?!
@ruouttaurmind We will let it stay and blame it on your failing/old man eyesight.
@mfladd Not the only thing failing in this old man.
Fortunately, @Thumperchick took pity on my poor old soul and cleaned up my mess.
@Bingo Purple rabbit? Skeletons? Whaaa?
@ruouttaurmind And she replaced it with, (creeper pic removed) LOL!!!
@Bingo
That image is a divine message to we poor miserable mortals from the great god “GIPHY”, working alongside the holy “SEMI-RANDOM”.
Actually no idea what game.
@mfladd
Fair bit, that. I had it coming.
@Thumperchick, you are the best.
@ruouttaurmind Further up the thread is a gif that @f001 had come up to a /gif command. It looks hilariously weird. Wondering if anyone knew what it was. The gif is:
@Bingo looks like Terraria.
/google terraria
Terraria
https://terraria.org/
/image terraria
@Barney unless you also like orange crush and want to add that to your list…
Jared Leto (Jesus version)
@RiotDemon Going with the Joker, I see.
@mfladd he looks terrible as the joker. Almost unrecognizable. Why he couldn’t of used a bald cap and a wig for the role, I don’t understand. I guess he’s really trying to capture the essence of the character or something. Since he’s staying as the joker, he’s keeping his hair short.
He does seem like an actual jokester if you follow him on Instagram. Maybe that’s why I like him.
I’ve wondered who the YL is in the topic picture for https://meh.com/forum/topics/official-january-2017-goat-blame-thread
@sligett That is Barbara Falcon (from what I could find) - Miss Southwest Texas
/image Tina Fey and Amy Poehler
@SSteve
Together they are … this!
@f00l Thanks for that. I love them so much.
Chris Evans all day any day.
@CaptAmehrican He’s got moobs.
@CaptAmehrican didn’t realize he also played The Human Torch in Fantastic Four.
(Not Johnny Depp, but Captain Jack Sparrow)
And I just wish they lived on my street. As neighbors.
@lisaviolet That would be one lunatic neighborhood. Given the amount of calamity Sparrow attracts I’d prefer him at a distance. Plus his breath must be horrific.
@moondrake Yeah, but look at how much entertainment he’d generate! I might even leave the house, if just to sit outside in a lawn chair and watch.
And maybe Cpt Sparrow’s dad would visit him! Woohoo!
@lisaviolet
Sparrow, yes. Assuming he’s clean, pays his own bills, hires and pays the crew that cleans up after him, and channels Keith Richards non-stop.
@lisaviolet Aw man, it would be awesome if His Dudeness was a neighbor. I would have barbecues all the time.
My list is far too long to post here. I am a great fan of male beauty, both bruisers and bishonen. But I’ll mention three pretty diverse current favorites. Chris Hemsworth, Dwayne the Rock Johnson, Nicolas Tse. Johnson has the extra bump of being a very nice guy.
@moondrake
That’s a good list.
Are you watching that HBO thing? Not that great - way too much on-screen Miami glitz - and way too little character and story.
But still. The Rock.
Ok, here is another that makes my blood boil. That twisted smile, and those eyes - Natalie Dormer
cc: @KittySprinkles
@mfladd Yeah, I’m sure the eyes are why you chose that photo.
@sammydog01 I knew one pervert would say that
And actually it was the combination eyes/smile I did - honest!
@mfladd The mischievous smile would be everything to you, of course. And eyes. That woman is sex on a stick
@KittySprinkles
I want a coke! Kate Beckinsale (sigh)
@mfladd
If I were going to have a vampire around, she’d do.
More please… Emma Stone
Can I go with a character (and the actor)?
@f00l Are you going to cause my loading times to suffer, you bastard! Leonard Nimoy???
@mfladd
This thread is nothing compared to what you’ve done in the past, bitch.
I haven’t gone to check that other thread yet this morning about relaxation.
Do I assume my truce offer was rejected?
Can I offer you some low level hatred?
I will check that other thread before I decide to … uh … relax.
@f00l Haha…let the hate flow thru you. My magical cape of despair reflects all of it at this time in my life. How is that for depressing?
@mfladd
If you’re that messed up, I’ll start trying to cure you.
It’ll be great.
Even tho we all know that’s not even possible.
Get the fuck off the floor, bitch. If you are going to whine, do it like a motherfucker. Got it?
@f00l I love that Nimoy/Quinto commercial. I still crack up when he starts singing the Bilbo Baggins song.
Let’s not forget - Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen)
@mfladd
Well yes!
I don’t go to many films currently or watch much tv. All on the to-so list.
So I tend to be less current.
Isabel Adjani
@f00l Going French, I see. - I like it.
@mfladd
In terms of who I like to see on-screen, my tastes are rather catholic (small"c").
But yes. Some of those French film stars have something.
@f00l Eva Green is a french actress - and I did not know that until now.
@mfladd
And just looking at her can take all day.
@f00l that picture made me think you were mentioning Monica Bellucci, and then I thought of this first scene:
Trinity’s jealousy… I’d feel the same way. I love Keanu in these movies.
@RiotDemon Good call!
@Shrdlu: I want to see your crush!
@mfladd
Calling out @shrdlu?
Good luck with that.
@f00l Though I walk thru the valley of death…
I am hoping she will answer the call.
@mfladd I doubt you will be expecting the folks I’m about to list, but here they are:
/image Claude Shannon
/image Stephen Hawking
(Excellent book by Hawking, entitled “The Dreams that Stuff is Made Of”)
/image Marvin Minsky
There’s more, of course, but that’s a solid start.
@mfladd
Stop making me parse your wording and then have to wonder if I have to explode on you, fucker.
R
U
OK?
Damn it.
And answer is acceptable.
No answer is acceptable.
Got it?
@Shrdlu
Nice.
@Shrdlu Honestly, that does not surprise me at all
But you have to have one guilty pleasure to share - c’mon.
@mfladd I just thought of more:
/image Seymour Cray
/image Terry Winograd
/image Grace Hopper
@mfladd I honestly have no real interests outside of intellectual pursuits. If you want me to post shots that strike me as beautiful, they are guaranteed to not have human beings in them. Oh, wait, here’s one:
/image James Tiptree, Jr
Easily one of my favorite humans, and I wept until I’d rubbed my eyes raw when she died.
@Shrdlu I get ya.
@Shrdlu and here I thought I would crack your top 5!
@mfladd
I can’t claim to guess specifics.
But @shrdlu’s top five might more resemble this sort of loveliness.
@Shrdlu All right, if you’re going to go all intellectual on me –
Seriously.
@Raider Aw, shucks. Mostly, I named people that I knew were gone. Far as I know, you’re not dead yet.
@Shrdlu Well if thats all it takes… goes to play in traffic while running with scissors
@Raider
That might not be that fastest way to doing serious work in physics or IT.
Unless you’ve re-engineered your scissors into an efficient and safe transportation aid, and by “playing in traffic”, you mean heading to the physics or IT library at the nearest research university.
If the latter, then bravo!
@Raider Surely you’ve known me long enough to understand that pity alone doesn’t move me. If pity moved me, I would have been in a different industry, and had a different job. I have the occasional empathy, sure, but if you choose to play in traffic, please pick someone insured to jump in front of. No sense adding to the woe and misery of whomever you choose to help you out of this life, and into the next.
/image Raider DOA
@Shrdlu
There’s nothing quite like specifications.
@f00l Sorry, my recent physic experiments have been limited to dropping bowling balls out 3rd story windows with middle school students while TA’ing in a gifted program. Just a favorite goofy way to attempt death.
@Shrdlu I will go to the nice community to play human frogger. Why get hit by an old POS Honda when can get crushed by a Bentley?! And don’t call me Shirley!
Olga Kurylenko
@f00l While discovered in Moscow at 13, she is actually a french actress and model.
@mfladd
What’s she in?
@f00l Hitman, Quantum of Solace, The Water Diviner, Oblivion.
(from Hitman)
@mfladd She’s a cute one. I actually really like Hitman. Rawr
Blast from the past.
Jeanne Moreau
Jules and Jim
Ingrid Bergman
This guy.
If he happened to still be in decent shape, and be clean and sober for like an hour, I’d have dinner with him.
@f00l Ok, now you are bringing this down the silver screen road.
Keanu Reeves
Point Break
Talking with his hands
That smile…
And the love between Neo and Trinity
@RiotDemon
/image action Mark Wahlberg
Just “image mark wahlberg” got boring in-a-tux headshots
I’ve been crushing on him for years:
@pitamuffin Yup, if that was the way I rolled.
@mfladd
@pitamuffin
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on George Clooney
Was thinking re this thread in terms of screen or visual image presence.
But if I were to go another direction (@shrdlu has inspired me)
Warning, am about to be an asshole idiot.
Majorly. Sometimes I cannot accomplish certain things with any grace.
That might be a clue that I should not make the attempt. But WTF.
Since when has that ever stopped anyone.
As you can see, a number of very generous souls have wasted perfectly good time and money attempting to educate me.
I have apologized and tried to make amends to some of those persons for the chaotic and unproductive results. Others to whom I owe amends are beyond my reach.
Here are a few who contributed ideas.
Évariste Galois
Kurt Gödel
Soo Bong Chae
Richard Courant
Boethius
Maurice Merleau-Ponty
Jacques Lacan
And his English aficionado,
Anthony Wilden
Henri Poincaré
John von Neumann
Here, Max Tegmark alleges that the universe might possibly, simply, be made of mathematics.
I.E.: the universe might be mathematics.
http://discovermagazine.com/2013/dec/13-math-made-flesh
But perhaps, not, quite, or only in part, the mathematics we think we might know, or the mathematics that legendary mathematicians might study and extend.
A traveler sees things - many who seek see things - when one gets far enough into mathematics, that, (as with any traveler), one can’t quite bring home. And a travel album won’t do them justice.
Mathematics is hardly the only path into that wilderland. Far from it. Many many paths. But the mention of those “places” can be a common point of reference sometimes in those conversation. One attempts, with humor and humility, to reference the perfectly logical “unsayable”. The provably and rigorously “unsayable”.
You could attempt to put what you saw, what others saw, into words - or into rigorous formalized language. Many do. And that’s good work - perhaps superb work. Perhaps legendary work, if done by a master.
But it would be only be tiniest gesture or salute toward what the traveler actually saw. What the traveler knows is there.
Oh yeah. Mariel Hemingway
@f00l Mariel Hemingway I get. But this thread is taking crazy twists - which I like.
@mfladd
Start here:
“You have to have a little faith in people”.
George Gershwin - Rhapsody in Blue - Leonard Bernstein, New York Philharmonic (1976)
If you promise me that you remember calculus and have approx 5-10 years free minimum, can send a reading list.
Re free time and energy, helps to be young.
Hudson Leick - Callisto (Xena)
Famke Janssen
I want to see the celebrity crushes of the following people (I find it interesting who people crush on).
@narfcake, @mikibell, @DrunkCat, @capguncowboy, @Sohmageek, @connorbush, @placidpenguin, @caffeinedude
I think that is good for now.
@mfladd I am reticent here…because I have only recognized like 5 of the living people…lots of the dead people, so I am thinking I really am not that interesting…
@mfladd
Alexandra daddario
http://m.imdb.com/name/nm1275259/?ref_=m_nmbio_bio_nm
She is so easy on the eyes
@mikibell crush, please…
@capguncowboy You need some help with that pic.
Alexandra Daddario
How’s that? Good pick, Cap.
@mikibell
I plan to throw in some dead and “ye olde” type folk. Already started.
Join me.
@f00l Ack!
@mfladd
I don’t have any.
@PlacidPenguin I don’t believe you. Unless you are a machine.
@mfladd
@PlacidPenguin
Was about to post HAL 9000
as a crush.
@mfladd
But in all seriousness, no I don’t have any celebrity crushes…
Or at least, none worth sharing in such a public setting.
@2many2no Please post celebrity crush below. It is required.
@PlacidPenguin
If it is an adult star, it is ok. There is nothing wrong with that. Mine is Hula Hoop girl
@mfladd
These are some of my fav adult stars.
@PlacidPenguin I found your crush.
Here is mine.
@mfladd
I have never watched Batman.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@PlacidPenguin Huh?
@mfladd
Just did an image search. That’s the character known as the Penguin from Batman.
Have never watched any of the shows or movies.
@mfladd I see you’re changing up which gif you use of her. That’s good, branching out!
@mfladd That’s not a hula hoop girl!
@mfladd Mila Kunis, Natalie Portman, Jessica Alba, Vanessa Hudgens, January Jones, Katherine Heigl, Jessica Beil.
@PantHeist @KittySprinkles @mfladd
http://video.dailymail.co.uk/video/mol/2016/06/15/3082251294490640413/640x360_3082251294490640413.mp4
@mfladd
Have you seen the video of the girl who can destroy watermelons between her legs?
@PlacidPenguin That picture was very misleading for the video.
Re watermelon crusher: That girl is on the couch with me.
@connorbush ooo, and Zooey Deschanel
@PantHeist
She’s something else. I presume she trained as a gymnast and rhythm gymnasts and then branched out.
@mfladd According to my wife it’s Bruce Willis but I am partial to Pierce Brosnan.
@mfladd
Now, do the celebrities have to have been actors, or could we include people who provided voices for shows/movies?
Because if the second one counts, @narfcake could tell you a lot of my list.
@PlacidPenguin
If we’re going voice actors I nominate Mel Blanc and Billy West for starters.
Go ahead with yours.
Zooey is cute
@daveinwarsh She is. I was waiting for her to show up. Good pick.
@mfladd I also had a crush on Genie
@daveinwarsh We all did - Barbara Eden That was practically nude back then.
@mfladd Of course, this was the first pic of a naked girl I ever saw. I was so intrigued, curious and probably in love with a strange woman on the cover of my dad’s Herb Albert record album… lol
She still haunts me…
@mfladd @daveinwarsh, zoey and herb alpert lady - me too
@daveinwarsh Did you ever hear the remix album that came out a few years ago, or maybe a decade now? Fantastic!
/image herb alpert rewhipped front back cover
Or
Or
If I swung that way…
Or
@mikibell Those are good. You can definitely see both parents in Dakota. I always thought Sandra’s marriage to Jesse James was strange.
And you will have to fight @ruouttaurmind over Mike Rowe.
@mikibell
Thx. Go for some oldies too.
@mfladd oscar…not mike……actually, I like each of them…
Luv Ullman
Daniel Oyelowo
@f00l you reminded me of a must crush - Uma Thurman.
@mfladd
She’s not a celebrity, but here is my number one crush, my mom, with pre-diet Lady.
This was taken when Mom was in rehab for her broken hip, six weeks before her stroke.
Love you Mom.
@Barney Awwwwe…Great Pic!
@mfladd Yeah, it is.
Oh, and here is a post-diet pic of a very svelte Lady.
(Nobody told me that I had to feed her. )
@Barney
Oh… I forgot this man…he is just yummmmy…
Bridgette Fonda - what ever happened to her?
@mfladd
Retired in 2002. Car crash on Feb 27, 2003.
Got married November 2003. She has a son Oliver.
@mfladd Bridget Fonda is married to Danny Elfman.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Elfman
Strangely, there are more updates about Bridget here, in this off-the-cuff Variety discussion of a real estate transaction in 2005 than most other places.
http://variety.com/2015/dirt/news/bridget-fonda-and-danny-elfman-buy-full-on-fixer-next-door-1201509618/
BTW, they’ve been happily married for going on 14 years. I’m pretty sure she means to stay retired. Good for her.
Honestly, I don’t know 95.75% of these people you are posting pictures of here. I guess I’ll go back to reading my book. (I am old.)
@Barney I finished my book…:(
@mikibell And so you just had to post pix…
@Barney I am old too. I just don’t know it yet.
@mfladd You’ll never grow
upold.@Barney Both. It’s ok.
Anyone here have a crush on Siri?
Siri has bad days also. One day she found our Steve Jobs had died.
@f00l Now if Siri could only find good search results.
@mfladd
Still in mourning I suspect.
Ziyi Zhang
Michelle Yeoh
@f00l Oh man, I love Yeoh.
@KittySprinkles
When you start thinking what they have to do to get say, 10 min of fight sequence for the finished film, woah.
I suspect many days and many many bruises covered with makeup or removed in post-production. It’s astonishing there aren’t more serious injuries, even if each move is done separately for multiple takes and a lot of the moves are shot while being performed slo-mo.
@f00l Maggie Q
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan (OMG - beautiful)
@mfladd
She just might be the ultimate face. I could stare at her all day.
Helen Of Troy couldn’t touch her.
I’ve watched some Bollywood stuff with the sound turned down just for her. WTF isn’t she parttime in Hollywood or at least Europe making films?
@f00l I first saw her in the movie The Last Legion.
@mfladd
She needs better material. I think she’s a very decent actor.
Bollywood is not famous for “emotionally exploratory” or “subtle”.
She made a Bollywood version of Pride and Prejudice once. “Bride and Prejudice” possibly? Forget the name of the film.
Turn sound the down and FF during musical #'s.
Kelly Hu
Jessica Alba
@2many2no I was waiting for Alba to show up. She is gorgeous. Hu is also amazing.
Let’s call out some more people for crushes. I am calling out @jbartus, @PantHeist, @carl669, @Pocketbrain, @OldCatLady, @sammydog01, @mehbee, and @moondrake to post their celebrity crushes. It is required.
@mfladd
You called out @OldCatLady.
Just sayin’.
@f00l I know
@mfladd I’m not really good at remembering celebrities. If there’s a famous woman with long dark red hair, dark expressive eyes, and known for being vicious, her.
@PantHeist Then I will give you Kat Mcnamara from Shadow Hunters.
@mfladd
/image crushed Chevy Celebrity
/s
@narfcake Your reply is deemed unacceptable. Human is required.
I am also calling out @thismyusername and @heartny to post crushes. It is required.
@mfladd Not to worry, I met the requirements, below.
@mfladd and in an interesting twist, my wife has introduced me to her:
Fuckin winnie cooper.
(In Jen’s words) “Who has aged beautifully, and become a fucking mathematician”
[1]:
@mfladd Seriously though- she’s more my type. Your pick was pretty, but not really for me.
@PantHeist I only went by your shopping list. I will leave you with this - notice anything different?
@mfladd I’m more partial to her TV brother
@mfladd yup
@mfladd
@Pantheist
Danica McKellar was a mathematician back during The Wonder Years also. Some of us were aware. No shortage of press on that. I guess you just never checked out the contents of her mind?
As for calling someone a “fucking mathematician” (used in the “street”, not the sexual sense) - I doubt most mathematicians would mind.
She is seriously rather cool.
@mfladd
Priyanka Chopra because, dayum!
Lupita Nyong’o
She’s a bit skinnier than I prefer, but she has such beautiful eyes.
Mayim Bialik, because smart is sexy too.
@PocketBrain Nice! I almost posted Priyanka also.
@f00l I’ve never seen wonder years.
@mfladd I mean they are people too why would you want to crush them?
@thismyusername
In the situation of someone having a crush, it’s normally the person who has the crush who gets crushed.
Unless it’s all lighthearted, as in this thread.
/giphy crush
@f00l Actually I lied- Jen just put it on and I did see this a couple times at my bubby’s house (she had cable). Never really got into it or the characters though.
Donnie Yen
One of his insane fight scenes.
The speed is not all film tricks.
@f00l IP MAN!!!
@PantHeist oh no, they did not just make Donnie pull out the 'chucks!
There is just something really sultry about Cate Blanchette.
@mfladd The elfin trifecta: Arwen (Liv Tyler), Galadriel (Cate Blanchette), Tauriel (Evangeline Lilly). Sweet, Strong, Sassy!
Lzzy Hale
@2many2no Yes!
Taylor Momsen from The Pretty Reckless
cc: @KittySprinkles
@mfladd Cindy Lou Woohoo
Pierce Brosnan <sigh>
@heartny
Oh, Ewan.
@KittySprinkles
@KittySprinkles great picture of him.
@RiotDemon One of my favorite faces, outside of my own people. That smile he has…sigh
@KittySprinkles
@KittySprinkles
not saying i agree, but when i hit the pics of Ewan, this is what came to mind.
Too old to really have “crushes” anymore, but occasionally find someone who gets the heart beating a little faster.
Whoever was responsible for casting him as Gaston in the new Beauty and the Beat movie is a genius.
@lordbowen Good pick!
@lordbowen
@RiotDemon Because I’m Batman!!
Trent Reznor… Crushing on him since forever.
He’s changed a lot over the years. He’s so smart if you ever listen to him talk.
@RiotDemon
Saw him a few times. Right at the end of the part of my life when I had sometimes gone to concerts and clubs. Pricing and hassles got in the way. Plus cds and ripped cds meant I had the music I wanted with me.
But he was worth it.
Then he vanished from public view, and then reappeared with exquisite film scores.
Good choice.
Can’t leave out my Timothy Olyphant since you brought Hitman into this.
@KittySprinkles
@mfladd This one’s not bad either! Hehe
@KittySprinkles Yeah, I couldn’t post the other
@mfladd Can’t imagine why!
I also love me some Kevin Durand. Vasiliy Fet on The Strain is one of my very favorite characters ever.
@KittySprinkles
@RiotDemon Not a great movie, but worth watching a few times for him.
Jen wanted me to add Tom Waits for her.
She was also quick to point out that if Tom Waits tried to have sex with me I’d be tempted, for the story if nothing else.
@PantHeist Probably my longest running crush. No lie.
@KittySprinkles You are a person of quality. Tom Waits is immortal, so it makes sense.
@PantHeist I once owned a signed poster print, no. 10 of 110 of him outside a used car dealership. My ex, in a fit after I left, threw it in the trash. If ever there was an excuse to light a man on fire…
@KittySprinkles I’ll provide the accelerant.
@KittySprinkles
If someone would do that … to your possessions, let alone a Tom Waits poster … glad he’s your ex.
@PantHeist Jen sounds amazing. She needs to get an account here and play with us. And she needs to keep us up to date on serial killers.
@sammydog01 I wouldn’t have married her if she wasn’t
Charlize Theron
@mfladd I prefer Michael in these photos. I took this magazine from the rack at work as soon as I saw these. I had to have it.
@mfladd Charlize is a beautiful woman to be sure. Though I think she lost some of her charm when she had the dental work done. That adorable quirky smile was part of the appeal to me.

@mehbee
Wonder why that didn’t work. Hmmm
Oh, I see you got an image further down the thread.
I would say I’m learning new things about y’all based on who you’ve all been posting, but you’re pretty much all meeting my expectations for each of you.
Which reminds me, @mfladd - Stop being a negative influence on @KittySprinkles and @OldCatLady both of whom are sweet and innocent.
@PlacidPenguin So what have you learned from mine?
@PlacidPenguin
I’m sweet and innocent too.

@PlacidPenguin Jen said the same thing
@PantHeist
About?

@mehbee
@mehbee Ooh, I was gonna post this- been a Dean girl for what is it, 11 years now?
Dang I almost forgot an actual 10

@mehbee
You’re not going all the way up to 11?
OK, one more.
Y’all know I’m a metalhead, but sometimes a voice just demands to be heard.
And for all you lecherous bastards, while this young woman is 20 now, she was only 16 when this video was made. (May violate OP guidelines?) Also I don’t speak Korean, so just close your eyes and listen (except @galmaegi).
@2many2no Age Violation
Ok, she is 20 yrs old now - we will let you off with a warning this time
@2many2no She is so young! You can understand this one.
@mfladd If that’s legal…
Is Cheryl OK to mention?
I loved when Mickey Mouse Club came on I loved Cheryl!
I’m sure she’s of legal age now…
@daveinwarsh Approved…statutes of limitation apply.
@galmaegi
@2many2no
She’s got the voice.
@f00l Great R&B voice.
Remember when Leann Rimes was just a kid on Star Search and everyone marvelled that such a big voice came out of such a small person?
Yeah, like that.
@2many2no
Judy Garland was that way.
“The little kid with the big voice”.

Prolly a little too old to have a crush on Haley Reinhart.
Cover of Radiohead’s Creep
Maybe Morgan James?
/youtube Lay Down Sally - Morgan James
or Jennifer Lopez (she’s 47!)
@compunaut JLo looks amazing for her age. Money can buy that though.
Also Nicole Curtis from her DIY/HGTV show Rehab Addict
Gotta love a woman in a tool belt
@compunaut Yes!
@mfladd
JLo may have had a little work. Hollywood. Who hasn’t.
But go to any upper middle class area. Find a gym or yoga place or Starbucks or sandwich place around noon. Look at who’s around.
Many of them are 40 and well beyond. And many of them look quite fine.
They don’t necessary need star $ or Hollywood money to look great at 40 or 50.
A relatively less stressful life plus the means to take decent care of yourself and your family can go that.
@compunaut
/youtube benny satisfaction
@f00l A little cash doesn’t hurt though. Christie Brinkley was probably my first celeb crush back in the SI days. She’s 63 now and still fit.
Kim Basinger, same age, also aging well.
Kinda like the guy with the hat. Like him a bit better when I can understand him, as in this clip from The Last Waltz.

Here’s my favorite actor when I was a kid:
I went to a lecture he gave called “The Villan Still Pursues Me” or something like that. Best lecture ever.
Anne Hathaway
Sara Bareilles.
@sligett
Here’s an embed
@f00l Thanks!
@sligett
Had no idea who she was.
Finally watched the vid.
Actually she’s terrific. And that vid is one of the most infectious things I’ve ever seen.
@f00l That is a fun video. Here’s one from a song of hers that was popular a few years ago.
@f00l Just one more. Sara did the music and lyrics for the musical “The Waitress”.
Thanks for listening.
@sligett
Ok now I have to open up YouTube on a diff device for her. She just gets better.
Think I’m a fan. Thx.
@sligett Huh, I had no idea there was a Broadway adaptation of Waitress. Was a good film, damn shame about Adrienne Shelly.
@brhfl Oh my. I didn’t know about Adrienne Shelly. That’s sad.
Today it’s:

@sammydog01 I would still rather do him than Brrady.
@sammydog01 Really? I guess you posted that one a WEE bit early last night
I wouldn’t mind living next door to this one.
Even tho botched vocal surgery kinda turned her into a baritone.
"Somewhere"
Composer: Leonard Bernstein
@f00l Ok, I am going to pass on this one.
@mfladd
She’s said to be a thoroughly nice and honorable person, profoundly so, to the point where she’s noticeably warm to just about everyone - without becoming “too personal”. And living next door to her would remind me to listen to her best recordings; not to mention that a having a good neighbor is nothing to sneeze at.
She sang during an era when many of the backing musical arrangements for the standards, unfortunately, were lush, overdone crap.
Pity, for instance, that arrangers for studio or concert performances of “Somewhere” don’t stick most closely to Bernstein’s original more spare approach. He was willing to let that song do its own work instead of gooping it up with orchestral flourishes and junk.
Her voice is something else tho. If I’m in the mood for her, often I have to listen past the arrangement overkill nausea in the background.
Too bad she can’t really sing anymore. (Post-failed surgery, she says her range is now more or less “Old Man River”.)
I’d love to see her be able to work with a stripped down very spare guitar, piano, or jazz approach, and see what she could do with modem material or a simple stripped approach to traditionals. Or some Celtic material.
If she still had the voice, I bet she’d kill it.
I assumed you were not limiting us to traditional “sex symbols”.
@f00l Im not - still a pass. But thank you for contributing.
I never really understood the whole “celebrity crush” thing. Crushing on what is essentially just pixels on a screen seems a bit too
patheti… um…odd to me.The only thing close was my college “instant love” and all-around bad boy:
Who, like all the good bad boys, had his softer, more vulnerable side:
@rockblossom
1961
Anna Torv (from Fringe)
@mfladd the first season of fringe was phenomenal.
Not sure how I felt about the last season.
I am going to stick with the Sci-fi theme.
Two women from Battlestar Galactica.
Tricia Helfer
Love, love, love - Katee Sackhoff
@mfladd have you watched Longmire? I’m about halfway through the show.
@RiotDemon I have not, but I’ll look into it.
@mfladd it’s on Netflix. About a sheriff department in Wyoming. I’ve really enjoyed it. Katee is one of the main characters.
well that didn’t work right, and I’m outside the edit delete window, can a mod delete these 2 posts?
@earlyre I got ya covered.
Maggie Gyllenhaal
@mfladd thanks for that… oddly enough, i don’t really have a thing for her in general, but THAT PHOTO… DAMN!
but I’m a little odd like that.
another prime example, had a Massive attraction to Liz Lemon(Tina Fey’s 30Rock Character), but don’t feel it with Tina outside that role…
Minnie Driver
@compunaut See, I don’t know what it is. Minnie has never done anything for me. But I get it.
@mfladd Met her in (sorta) person one time (2000). Utterly charming… and at that moment was projecting pure animal magnetism to all nearby males. I can still feel it every time I see her photo
@mfladd from what you’ve posted, it’s probably because she looks too nice. Everyone you’ve posted fits the mold of “typical hot chick”. (That would kick your ass if you piss her off, or ask her to)
Just an observation.
Meg is another cute actress…
Chloe Bennet (Marvels Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D.)
Jewel Staite (from Firefly)
@carl669 Fuck Yeah! (and Atlantis)
@carl669 @mfladd
@spitfire6006006 Yup. Olivia Wilde is gorgeous!
@Zebra
Wow. I’m suddenly way into the article list. Not kidding. Look at the writers!
Rosario Dawson!
@elimanningface I almost posted her too. She’s awesome.
Perttu from Apocalyptica.
Gillian Jacobs (Community)
with Alison Brie
@mfladd I’m not usually that in to blondes, but i definitely prefer Gillian to Allison, oddly. Normally i have a strong preference for brunettes.

It’s not a celebrity crush, but I’m sitting here watching Adams’ Family Values and I realized that the camp kid with all the allergies is 15 year old David Krumholtz. The campy camp counselor is Peter MacNicol. How strange that a dozen years later he was starring in Numbers with the same actor all grown up.
I really don’t like Gilmore Girls, but I’ve had a crush on Alexis Bledel since the show launched.
Blue eyes, dark hair, pale skin, and freckles? I was very disappointed when she got married.
Well before my time but Grace Kelly, particularly in Rear Window?
I’m not even that into blondes!
Also Audrey Hepburn
