@TBoneZeOriginal We have a house with very hard water that destroys coffee makers.. I bought two of those cheap ass Mr. Coffee brewers for our AirBNB guests so there's a spare in case one needs decalcifying. At home I still have the Saeco fully automatic espresso machine that Woot sold ~3 years ago, that's an amazing machine
@boygenius1991 I had this experience. Got this exact model as a wedding gift, dumped it shortly after. There aren't enough BARs of pressure to get actual espresso out of this (really, you can't get true espresso from any machine under $250).
Got my Keurig at a Thift Store for $20 new in box Got my Breville Cafe Roma at a thrift store for $9 Got my LaPavoni at a Thrift Store for $12 And I just retired my Black and Decker brew pot that I got on jellyfish,com years ago for around $8 (shipping killed)
@jmhsrv Nice! I have the two-switch version, and the base is in 'why did they make this color orange' rather than 'why did they make this color brown' :D I installed a manometer atop the sight glass. I did not pay $12 for mine, haha.
How do I get more stats for adding a thread, looking out to my annual report next July. Seriously, I don't get it. Of course not saying I couldn't figure it out, but with such friendly folk in this forum, maybe ya'll jus make it ez for meh?
Seriously guys why are you so steamed about the fact that you have already purchased some other machine? just buy another and put it in the dark place that you keep your other ill decided purchases of days gone past
I bought one last time, and it was one of my better meh purchases. Don't get me wrong, as espresso it's pretty meh, and it broke after a couple months. But I think of it as a 20 dollar trial model of this whole espresso thing, and I think I got my money's worth.
Then I bought a real espresso maker. Although I make it a point to pronounce it expresso.
@azfang I got one of these the last time they came up too -- mine is still going strong (but I travel for work so I don't use it but a few times in most weeks). As you say, if it does break, well, it was super cheap to begin with.
I did find out a few days after I bought it that the carafe will not handle being dropped on a linoleum floor. The glass is very thin so it just shatters into a billion pieces[0]. That seems to be pretty common for coffee machines though -- every carafe I've ever dropped on the floor was a goner the instant it hit.
[0] yes, I counted every single one, including the one that got stuck in my foot two days later
@Mehrsels I got this in the Meh Birthday Fukubukro. Took me a long time to decide whether to sell it or not. I decided to keep it and I love it. It's brilliant machine and maybe I'll become a barrister.
@kokomojo Gahhh......outed. Mehrsels and ElleBeaux are both me. The Droid logged me in under my other (100% authentic) name. I'm calling my barrister about it right meow.
I've been making fake espresso with my stainless steel Bialetti stovetop for a while, and I doubt I'll go to a machine until I get a proper semi-commercial one with a nice steam wand. It's so easy (as long as you have a good grinder and a simple milk frother) and adjustable to your tastes.
One of my friends used to be a barista at a local place, and when he tried a latte I made on the stove, he was impressed. I personally think it tastes as good or better than what I get from certain shops around here.

Too bad I got one for my Fuku. Oh wait, that is awesome.
Meh.
How about a K-cup machine next time?
@ruouttaurmind I have one already, I'd love another one for the office!
@ruouttaurmind they did a kcup hybrid machine a while back
@communist ok how about a decent one.
@ruouttaurmind K-cups are too wasteful! You and the Earth are better off with a Melitta cone or reuseable filter.
@liquidbluenight and expensive per cup.
@liquidbluenight But Keurig has reusable filters. (But it also has really good coffees in K-cups, many of which are now recyclable.)
@liquidbluenight Reusable K-cups are readily available almost anywhere coffee is sold; including many grocery stores, Amazon and eBay.
I would buy the shit out of an Irk mug.
@connorbush I agree
@connorbush Meh thoughts exactly!
@connorbush
@connorbush
@mike808 Thanks @mike808 ; however, I am not the fan of purple.
@sohmageek This is more accurate. Usually takes a few cups though.
@connorbush Fact: People that drink five or more cups of coffee a day have a 75 percent less chance of getting colon cancer.
@connorbush we wouldn't. Our cupboards are already overflowing with mugs.
@RedOak I recently liquidated a good portion of my mugs to my office. Trying to get the team here to cut down on paper cup consumption.
@dino2269 no cancer for by butt!
I just had to replace my coffee maker last week. So much for that Baader Meinhof thing we had going, Meh.
Sorry, I already bought the Mr. Coffee one from a few weeks ago! And it's doing the job quite well, I might add.

Man, I just got a new espresso machine. Otherwise, a buy. Thanks, @DrunkCat.
@PocketBrain Don't blame me, blame the black liquid siren.
there are a distressing amount of 1 star reviews about the machine breaking very soon after purchase. no thanks, meh.
@boygenius1991 But this one has already broken and was fixed again. What could the odds possibly be that it would break again?
@jmhsrv Not true. These are new, not refurb.
@jmhsrv I lold
@cengland0 oh yeah huh
@boygenius1991 I had this experience. Got this exact model as a wedding gift, dumped it shortly after. There aren't enough BARs of pressure to get actual espresso out of this (really, you can't get true espresso from any machine under $250).
Steam, not pump. Meh.
no thanks, got the sweet 12 cup coffee maker with timer about a month ago.
@JasonToon - Loved the write-up. BRAVO!
@mediobarkre - Drinking terrible coffee with meh.
@mediobarkre Thanks! @KDemo Just the thought of the Phillyccino makes me throw up in my mouth a little bit.
@JasonToon - Maybe you've been spending too much time with @matthew? I would not trust either of you to make a beverage for me.
Just sayin' ;-)
For this price, do you buy the espresso machine, or something like an Aeropress?
@kenlovesmoney Aeropress, stat.
@kenlovesmoney Don't use the Aeropress to froth the milk though. It will make a mess and leave you pissed off.
@G1 You can, however, use a french press to froth milk
Bought one of these last time and it is a major MEH
It makes root beer floats? In for one.
Nah....I'd get steamed if it broke....cause all the reviews say the steamer breaks...
@eeterrific If it broke, you wouldn't get steamed.
First purchase from Meh
@bquick01 welcome! Just don't expect too much.
Meh..
I love coffee, but..
Got my Keurig at a Thift Store for $20 new in box
Got my Breville Cafe Roma at a thrift store for $9
Got my LaPavoni at a Thrift Store for $12
And I just retired my Black and Decker brew pot that I got on jellyfish,com years ago for around $8 (shipping killed)
I think I'm good
@jmhsrv You get a star for being a jellyfisher -- God, I miss that place.
@jmhsrv A $12 La Pavoni is a goddamn steal, good work. What model/era?
@brhfl The coffee grinder is pure vintage as well - I got it for $22 on EBAY - Burr grinders rule [img][/img]la pavoni and elma

Gotta have a pump for good espresso unless you can afford one of those insane Italian ones with the big pull lever.
@droopus What if you want espresso that is merely meh?
@droopus Oops. For a minute there I thought you wrote 'breast milk' instead of 'espresso'.
@droopus that's what she said
@droopus Specs say it's 15BAR so this must have a pump in it..
How do I get more stats for adding a thread, looking out to my annual report next July. Seriously, I don't get it. Of course not saying I couldn't figure it out, but with such friendly folk in this forum, maybe ya'll jus make it ez for meh?

Can it make a flat white? If it can-- sold.
@mechcozmo it won't milk the cow for you if that's what you're asking
@mechcozmo you can have coffee with whoever your want. It doesn't judge.
Did I just "log on" to The Onion?! Today's write up is so funny I LOLd multiple times already. I'm going back to read it again and then LOL again.
@mehvermore Which one did you LOL on? There are many stories on the home page.
I bought one last time, and it was one of my better meh purchases. Don't get me wrong, as espresso it's pretty meh, and it broke after a couple months. But I think of it as a 20 dollar trial model of this whole espresso thing, and I think I got my money's worth.

@azfang Escellent!
@Pufferfishy hey now. Trolling coffee snobs is everyone's responsibility. No counter trolling.
@azfang great positive thinking! Almost did the same thing with a Mercedes Benz SmartCar but thought better of it.
@azfang I got one of these the last time they came up too -- mine is still going strong (but I travel for work so I don't use it but a few times in most weeks). As you say, if it does break, well, it was super cheap to begin with.

To paraphrase Crocodile Dundee;
"That's not a Meh espresso and cappuccino machine. *This*is a Meh espresso and cappuccino machine."
@Teripie Wait, what? That was an option? I am SO selling the Capresso on eBay if anything like this comes along.
@Mehrsels I got this in the Meh Birthday Fukubukro. Took me a long time to decide whether to sell it or not. I decided to keep it and I love it. It's brilliant machine and maybe I'll become a barrister.
@Mehrsels Why would an espresso machine make you want to become a lawyer?
@kokomojo I give up.Why? Let's ask @Teripie. (I'll stick to what I know and settle for becoming a barristA.)
@kokomojo Gahhh......outed. Mehrsels and ElleBeaux are both me. The Droid logged me in under my other (100% authentic) name. I'm calling my barrister about it right meow.

I bought it when it was up for $5 more. It's in good use till now.
Can we get an Irk and an Irk mug instead?!
This thing is AWESOME. Blows any K-Cup crap out of the water. Sure it takes a little extra time, but hey, you're worth it.
