@peaceetc Yeah, but why would you get a T6 then? If you’re already swimming in lenses, you’re probably already have higher end gear that shoots in 1440p video and can capture tachyons.
@Konraden Maybe, but I’m still using a couple of Canon lenses (OK, one Canon and one Sigma) that I bought over fifteen years ago for my film cameras (I had an Elan for my main camera and a Rebel for my second body).
So when I bought a digital camera, I didn’t need a kit lens.
@peaceetc put that T2i up against any consumer (Tx or Txi series) Canon. Same photo, same conditions. Do it and compare.
You don’t need to upgrade unless you want to get into some next level stuff like a 5D etc. You have the good older one they haven’t really been able to beat yet. Specs are one thing, but match photo to photo, and you don’t really have a reason to upgrade yet. That said, it would be nice to have a video focus that actually worked well, and quietly… So T2i owners are stuck in manual focus mode, or there is that iPhone too.
@jbartus I had an XTi; great camera but finally upgraded to full frame buying a used 5D. Buying used camera gear is a great way to save money, just find a reputable shop to get it from so you can have some confidence in your purchase.
@jqubed yeah I’m headed down the full frame route full steam now that I’ve realized all of my non-kit lenses are EFs, not EF-S. I was agonizing for several years now thinking I had to replace them all without having actually looked closely.
@mehdaf I used to have an XT, and only bought the T2i because the XT broke. If I ever can afford to upgrade, I want to go to at least a 7D. Maybe one of these days.
@LordJohnWhorfin It didn’t stop the first purchaser who managed to color in CA on the map. There are 38 million other people who are not you. … I’m not sure where I’m going with this.
@LordJohnWhorfin why are you holding Meh responsible for California’s Amazon Law?
Based on what information Meh does release (map, total number) it seems reasonable that Meh easily exceeds the ‘total cumulative sales in excess of $10,000 during the preceding twelve months to customers in California’ provision and probably the ‘also has total cumulative sales to purchasers in California exceeding $1,000,000’ provision.
Even if they don’t, it’s not like you’re being charged for something you aren’t required to pay anyhow. In cases where an online retailer is not required to collect sales tax, the customer is still required to pay the tax which is then known not as a sales tax but instead termed ‘use tax’. Under California law, if an item would otherwise be subject to sales tax, it is generally subject to use tax.
@jbartus A business only needs to collect sales tax for out of state sales [if they have a nexus in California]. Creating a nexus in CA was a dumb idea, period.
(5) (A) Any retailer entering into an agreement or agreements under which a person or persons in this state, for a commission or other consideration, directly or indirectly refer potential purchasers of tangible personal property to the retailer, whether by an Internet-based link or an Internet Web site, or otherwise, provided that both of the following conditions are met:
(i) The total cumulative sales price from all of the retailer’s sales, within the preceding 12 months, of tangible personal property to purchasers in this state that are referred pursuant to all of those agreements with a person or persons in this state, is in excess
of ten thousand dollars ($10,000).
(ii) The retailer, within the preceding 12 months, has total cumulative sales of tangible personal property to purchasers in this state in excess of one million dollars ($1,000,000).
The law is slowly catching up (as always) to technology and nexus has been redefined beyond simply mandating a physical presence as was reasonably applicable in the heyday of brick and mortar sales to include the concept of an economic nexus, the idea being that a company is doing enough business in a state despite the lack of a physical presence in the state as to be providing competition to in-state businesses and deprive the state of their rightful tax income.
And all of this is an aside. Use tax being notoriously hard to enforce makes it far easier to collect at point of sale which is all that is happening here. You were required by law to pay the tax regardless, it was just the enforcement of that law that was lax, the internet loophole is being closed slowly across the entire nation, you guys weren’t even the first ones this affected.
Not a bad price at all, considering even Costco’s bundle (which admittedly also includes a 70-300mm lens and a bag) is still $550, AFTER a $200 rebate.
But I chose the Nikon route, and stick to that I shall.
@jbartus, I believe @mike808 was likely referring to the zoom in the giphy I posted. (Which is random, by the way.) And yes, that zoom is way more than 300mm.
@mike808 to be fair the sentence structure worked fine as a normal sentence so there was no reason to suspect a reference. “That’s No Moon” stands out because of the improbability of what’s being said and such, yours fit in context.
@jbartus I did some research into FD adapters before posting, and apparently they just aren’t that good, except the Canon one, which is long discontinued and costs an arm and a leg used.
@craigthom it depends on your needs. Yeah, depending on the lens you may or may not be able to use the adapters but for most things going FD really doesn’t make a whole lot of sense because there are a ton of benefits to EF+ that you won’t have. That said, macro photography is pretty cool stuff and if nothing else adapters allow you to score some really really inexpensive macro lenses. Most any FD lens can use the element-free adapters that turn them into macro lenses so it’s not like they’ve turned into a useless pile of spare parts.
@jbartus The 75-300 isn’t a great lens. Try to find an old used 100-300. I’ve had one of those for almost twenty years. It’s a little soft on the edges, but it’s razor sharp in the middle.
So I was totally contemplating buying a sale like this until about three days ago…
I was going through my camera gear and realized that two of my three lenses that I had assumed were all EF-S lenses were, in fact, EF lenses. Full-frame camera body here I come!
They’ve had the Canon Rebel T5 on Meh a couple times in the past for ~$300, and it’s a pretty nice little entry-level DSLR. As far as I know, the T6 is basically a slightly-updated version of the T5, with a couple extra luxury features like WiFi.
Still a very low-end camera for a DSLR, but if you’re coming from a cheap point and shoot (or a cell phone) then this will be awesome. If you want to get your first “real” camera and learn how to manually control things like shutters peed, aperture, and ISO in order to get great-looking photos, then I think this camera is very much worth it.
@Dankk although I agree, there are plenty of non DSLR cameras these days with full manual controls, including bulb exposures, multiple exposures etc.
a lot of people get convinced you need the DSLR, but you really don’t if you don’t want the bulk/weight etc
@username Phones are getting a lot better, too. I’m very happy with my Note5 camera. Changing the settings can take some time, and I still prefer a viewfinder to a screen, but I’m getting nice pictures with it.
@craigthom phones are only better than the camera you don’t have. Their sensors are minuscule at best and their optical zoom capability, if any, is extremely limited exacerbating the sensor issue even further when digital zoom must be relied upon.
@jbartus I think you’d be surprised. This is the first phone I’ve had that take what I consider to be acceptable photographs, not just snapshots. The focus is very sharp, even when pixel peeping. It’s also great in low light
As for digital zoom, why on Earth would anyone do that? Use the tool you have, not the one you don’t. People still manage to make decent photos with prime lenses.
It’s not a substitute for my main camera, but it is a substitute for the point-and-shoot I used to keep in the glove compartment.
@craigthom I’m not convinced a suitably modern point and shoot wouldn’t outperform it, though I will agree the convenience factor has merit. Also, I was actually advocating against digital zoom…
@jbartus Yes. There are still plenty of situations where even a good point and shoot can beat it (mainly involving a zoom lens) but it can be competitive in some scenarios.
@jqubed well naturally an f1.8 aperture camera with a 1/2.6" sensor will perform reasonably well when used in its optimal configuration but the vast majority of users aren’t photographers aware of the implications of decisions like using digital zoom upon photo quality. You and I recognize the device’s limitations and respect them, the average user does not which is why I maintain that it’s only better than the camera you don’t have in the overwhelming majority of use cases.
IIRC you said you had an XTi in the past. Just for comparison purposes, and working from the assumption that 1/2.6 is the diagonal measurement of the sensor, the XTi’s sensor was 1.05 inches across as compared to 0.385 inches for the G4. All this while the G4 also crams four additional megapixels into the same smaller sensor. Sensors have improved in the last decade but I’d still take the XTi over the G4 99 times out of 100 if given my preference because of its relative flexibility and the more reasonable pixel density of the sensor.
for boring economics info reasons, I’m curious how meh gets these below MAP. and what is the actual retail mark-up on goods.
they should have something like this for everything: http://www.coinflation.com/
(what it actually costs vs how much retail is)
@username generally speaking, meh gets it from anyone other than canon directly, so probably stores that have stock but cant sell it for less than $499 to customers go to meh and unload their entire stock at once.
although for a more correct answer we could always ping @jdub
@communist discussing economics with a communist
still interesting then that these stores unload it so early (March model), why would they order huge inventory in a first place
@username because sometimes to be in the club you have to be able to move a certain volume of goods. Or you get a discount/kickback/rebate for ordering a huge quantity. The reasons are many and varied… but often they end up in too much money tied up in inventory, and it has to be sold ASAP.
@communist apologies for the slow reply, but we’re going to call all purchasers of this item and sell them the lens we claim is included - the classic old-school NY camera dealer tactic!!! Seriously, though there are many reasons why we come across stuff like today’s deal. But, if I told you, I’d have to… well, nevermind, it’s a long story.
@Jdub You weren’t kidding about the long story. I could only get about four words in and had to leave for an appointment. @Konraden is right, ain’t nobody got time for that.
Crappie lens, plastic DSLR. No thanks. Even though the newer T7 is out I would never buy this entry level DSLR. I’ll stick with my Nikons (D600, D7100, D300s and D200.) Every nikon F mount lens works with every nikon SLR. Full frame or crop. Can’t say the same with Canon.
@stinks the 300mm lens will work on your D3100. No, you wont have fully automatic function because you chose a camera body without a lens motor control, but you can still operate the camera and take pictures with it and use the meter to set exposure. Guess you just have to learn how to use your equipment better. They make manuals for that sort of thing…
@stinks i also said “F-mount”. In the 1960’s the 300mm Nikon f4.5 Nikkor lens used a P-mount, not an F-mount. Now you could spend a few bucks to convert it to work. There are kits made.
@braveit1 Sorry I wasn’t more clear. I AM using the 300mm, and have for years. It takes great pictures, and it’s pretty cool that it works.
That is, I was saying that I do understand Nikons’ lens advantage intimately, but if you look at the charts Ken provides at the link I gave you, you’ll see it’s nothing like the universal compatibility you mentioned. $0.02 etc. Some can break your reflex mirror, and using DX on a full frame FX won’t always give a full picture; they’ll vignette, just to point out a few incompatibility types. It’s actually kinda fascinating.
@pajamma I got a buddy who swears by em. And I must admit I like the look, and some of the features are pretty innovative. They just don’t compete if we’re talking video.
@reddinghill I guess i don’t understand the “video” aspect of DSLR users. While I guess it can be useful to have, I own a video camera for taking video (at 4K and 60 fps) which is specifically what it was designed for, so why do I want to shoot video with a much heavier camera that was specifically designed to do something else? I’ll take the innovative features for less money and weather proofing and in camera shake reduction over video.
@GarbyRator Well now we’re saying that DSLR cameras are only “designed” for stills, which simply isn’t true anymore. I’ve rocked big broadcast video cameras in the past (Sony HDR-Z7U), and a small DSLR like the 70D does a much better job when you’re shooting video of say an event, in a small space, or even for YouTube nonsense like I do. And I don’t know what you mean by DSLRs being heavier, unless you’re talking about carrying a tiny handycam instead, in which case that doesn’t compare with the features of a good DSLR that’s been “designed” for video, too (audio ports, hot shoe, interchangeable lens, etc).
@reddinghill It appears you missed my point, so I’ll try again. DSLRs (the digital format of single lens reflex film cameras) were designed as still image cameras. Video is a nice add on, but items are designed to do something as a primary function, and in the case of a DSLR camera, that is to take still pictures. Much like phones have cameras, I don’t tell people I don’t buy HTC phones because they really have subpar video and still capabilities; I am glad my phone has a camera, but I also understand it’s not it’s primary function. My response was to you saying that you said Pentax doesn’t compete in the video market . . .that’s fine, they understand the novelty of having video on a still camera . Here’s a comparison of why I own Pentax, they strive to do the still picture thing better, which is WHAT I PURCHASED my DSLR to do, take still pictures: http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-EOS-70D-vs-Pentax_K-5/specs
The K-5 is a three year older camera, yet scores much better scores on the image quality, which is why I am using a DSLR, otherwise, I just use my phone. Not to mention, it’s a less expensive camera . . .and yes, I understand there are people out there taking video with DSLR, and for them, great, more power to them and you.
@GarbyRator we’re really past the point where we can point at video on a DSLR and call it a novelty or a gimmick. I used to bang that drum too but @reddinghill is right, it is a factor which is given substantial consideration by a large sample size of buyers now and DSLRs are, from what I’ve seen, the camera of choice for most of the more successful VLoggers and such because of their versatility.
@ozzallos 720p is 60 frames per second. 1080i/p is 30 frames per second. There’s little real point in making a 1080 camera that does 60 fps when few people could use that.
@mike808 Those are high-end slow-motion cameras that shoot several hundred if not several thousand frames per second. No one building that kind of camera would stop at just 60.
Thanks for talking me out of this one guys, I’ve got kids in sports. I really would enjoy a nice camera but I don’t want to have to spend all that money and I didn’t know if it was going to be a nice nice nice camera.
@lenea9011 The lens is going to be a lot more important for shooting sports than the camera, and a fast telephoto zoom is going to cost a lot more than this camera.
@lenea9011 I have a 12 year old Pentax K200d that I shoot volleyball with (which is one of the harder sports due to poor lighting and the speed of the game.) I was getting ready to pull the trigger on a newer camera last year when I finally got smart and did what craigthorn said above, spent that money on a couple prime lenses and have re-invigorated the old camera. I still need to upgrade since I’m limited on ISO (1600) and burst rate (which is the same as this camera, you’ll want something in the 6-7 images per second range for action shots) but using the much larger aperture and as a result, higher shutter speed, blurry dark photos are a thing of the past. So, in short, you can make this entry level work, but you do have to learn how to get the camera out of the “green” mode that most sport parents use running around the court or field.
@GarbyRator I’ve got a Canon 7D, which will do eight images a second (for about three seconds; then it drops to about 2-3 until I left off the button and let the buffer clear). Mostly I just squeeze off a second or two at a time. The problem is that I end up with many hundreds of photos, most of which look very much like others.
But then I can do this.
True story: I exported those from Lightroom but couldn’t find a tool to make the animation. They automatically got uploaded to Google Photos, which, I guess, recognized how similar they are and made the animation itself. I don’t know if the apparently looping was intentional or serendipity.
@craigthom Yeah, Google Photo continues to amaze me with the stuff it does, but that is an epic never ending image . . . serendipity my friend, you managed to create a fantastic gif without even trying, lol.
Yes, continuous photo does result in hundreds of images, but when you are shooting sports, the chance of pushing the shutter at the exact second the action is perfect is one in a million, but if you capture a couple seconds worth and then diligently work back through them, you will get the image you want. Plus, you get some pretty cool animations from Google photos.
The “kit” lens 18-55 is crap, but it can be traded on Amazon for a couple of $$$…consider spending some more $$$ for a better lens! Also, the EOS Rebel T6 is nearly identical to the T5 as well as the T5i.
@jhechotek there are pretty important differences between the T# and T#i cameras. I would expect the T6 to fall somewhere in between the T5 and T5i with the T6i being a marked improvement over the T5i.
It’s a good get at the price, but I’m sitting on (2) 70D’s at the moment and can’t justify the purchase. Still, it has me wondering how the 1080p video compares to the 70D (almost just not quite full frame) and the 5D Mark (full frame).
@reddinghill nice! I figured you had a need I was curious as to what it was so thanks for answering my vague question in exactly the manner in which it was intended but not written!
You guys should totally teach Weber a lesson on MAP pricing next. Because they deserve it. And definitely not because my old cheap grill is disintegrating before my eyes and I’m frustrated playing whack-a-mole watching slickdeals and the like for Weber Spirit clearances and never scoring one.
@plastrd Having recently purchased a shiny new Weber I feel your pain. I looked for a while and gave up hope of any discount.
In the end, I decided I’m willing to pay a premium price for a premium product. My previous Weber last 16 years and I only got rid of it because it had a small mouse infestation. I used Amazon points which took some of the sting away, but I would have paid full price. It’s that good.
@plastrd Yep. Weber crushed (bought) Ducane. Still have our 25 year old Ducane. It had a lifetime warranty on the grill guts and even the igniter. Weber didn’t care - they laughed at the warranty. Thankfully there are reasonably priced after market parts. Crossing fingers for the next 25 years… (and will buy anything but a Weber)
@plastrd No crap. My kettle was stolen last year, but I’m reluctant to replace it because the prices keep going up, and there’s never a discount. They even make Walmart sell at the same price as everyone else.
@craigthom at the end of summer you can get weber kettles half price at target… got an 18" jumbo joe for tailgating (or more often wood fired pizzas) and a 22" one touch silver for less than $100 a couple of falls ago. That doesn’t help you being without one this summer, but you can find them. The garage sale plan is still cheaper, though.
Dangit! I bought a T5i a couple years ago and it still works perfectly. If only it didn’t so I could buy this one and have the Wi-Fi. I’m far too careful of my property. I should be more careless so I can upgrade more often.
@damccull actually the t5i is somewhat better than this t6. Your t5i has a swivel screen, touchscreen, more auto focus points, on sensor phase detection for better live view, an external mic jack for adding better sound, higher iso ability and faster raw/jpg shooting in burst mode. The only thing the t6 has over the t5i is wifi built in and nfc. If you need the wifi, just get a EyeFi card with the money you saved.
I wish it were the T6i or T6s. However I am on the market for the starter lens this camera comes with. If someone bought this deal and doesn’t needs the lens, hit me up, maybe we can figure a win-win transaction
I researched this exact package and the least expensive I could find last week was $499.99 (no tax, free shipping). I just received it yesterday. It’s going back into the box and being returned so I can save myself some $$. Thank you Meh!
I just bought one of these. I used to have a Canon Rebel XT back in high school that I got for a Christmas gift, and I loved that thing. I bought a Nikon D90 after that for about $1k, but it was never quite the same feeling. I had to sell my Nikon for cash in college and haven’t gotten a new one since.
I can’t wait to be reunited with the Rebel again, this time at a pretty good price. Easily 200 under everywhere I’ve seen online. Now cameras have wifi too? What is this, the future? I haven’t had a DSLR in a while though.
Oh gosh! 20 hours ago and I have to do a loty of dreading. HELP HELP. T5i is my latest Canon. Do I need to buy this at a great proce? ANY opinions while I loook over EVERYTHING before this sells out.
Please! But the T6s or the T6i. They would be better. Alas! they are not offered though!
I was really, really gunning for that Fujifilm E-x2- but I didn’t have the money. I really would love a step up frpm my T5i, and I have a lot of canon lenses, but I’s love a (sorta) point and click mirrorless camera with amazing closeup (macro) characteristics, since the vast majority of my photos are flowers and mushroom. If I could have ust been put into some kinda froze sleep deprivation unit for say 8 years unil the prefect some of this stuff. It’s such a nice price and such a nice lens! But I don’t have that change in my Pocket!
Ow Ow Ow…I’ll be back to re-edit, for sure. Help help!
Yeay, I knoow I went waky here. I
’ll slow dow and re-read everything. I apologize for getting so excited. I’m not really crazy about my T5i. Anyway, apologize again for going waaaay overboard on the crazy/nutty.
If you want to upgrade your camera and keep using your EF-S lenses, then you’ll probably want an 80D or 7D Mk II, or an older version of one of those.
But first figure out why you want to upgrade, then find a camera that offers what you want.
Another Rebel will be incremental. And just as tiny, if not tinier. I personally, am much happier with a bigger, heavier camera, but that’s what I’m used to.
@craigthom Thanks for the thoughtful reply. I take hundreds of flower photos for fun, and I’d like to be able to take macros withough putting all that money out for a macro lens. They had a big price drop on that fugifilm X-E2, with what looks like a dedicated macro button.I’ve seen the X-E2 used at a decent price and I’ve wondered if that would satisfy my close-up, generally point-and-shoot obsession I’ve had the last few years. I’d love any imput you can give me. My familys got 200 acreas and it really makes me happy.‘craigthom’ any ideas or leads, and I’d appreciated it so much! (too bad no PM mode) thanks what you’ve given me so far (some beautiful emoji I couldn’t find!)
@wew I have no idea what a macro button would do, since “macro” is all about how big an image the lens puts on the sensor and how flat it is from side to side.
I don’t see a way to get really good macro photographs without dropping a few hundred dollars on a macro lens.
I haven’t done that. I’ll take the odd flower photo, but it’s nowhere near macro magnification.
@wew Apparently the “macro” button just biases the autofocus toward near objects. You still need a macro lens (close focus, close to one-to-one image size) to get macro photographs.
I just bought it via Last Call. Had to borrow $50 and use every penny of my birthday money I’d been saving. Maybe I’ll get to photograph a fierce-ruby-baboon someday.

Picture this nice deal – pick this one up in a flash! I have a rebel and it does have a cause btw-- great pictures and great camera seriously!!
Hey, something new-ish. Can’t see myself buying this, but still nice!
@Tin_Foil
If you had the camera, you could…
“Includes 18-55mm lens because why would you buy a camera without a lens?”
I would indeed buy a camera without a lens, since I already have lenses, including that one.
@Konraden I wish. I’m still rocking the Canon T2i. Photography gear is flipping expensive.
@peaceetc I still rock my XTi so… I know how you feel
@jbartus 450D works great for me. I mostly shoot the cosmos though.
I’d go for it if Meh hadn’t stupidly started collecting taxes in CA. Have you sacked that CA employee yet, Meh?
@LordJohnWhorfin It didn’t stop the first purchaser who managed to color in CA on the map. There are 38 million other people who are not you. … I’m not sure where I’m going with this.
@LordJohnWhorfin why are you holding Meh responsible for California’s Amazon Law?

Even if they don’t, it’s not like you’re being charged for something you aren’t required to pay anyhow. In cases where an online retailer is not required to collect sales tax, the customer is still required to pay the tax which is then known not as a sales tax but instead termed ‘use tax’. @jbartus A business only needs to collect sales tax for out of state sales [if they have a nexus in California]. Creating a nexus in CA was a dumb idea, period.
@LordJohnWhorfin actually, no.

I was hoping for something more like Pachelbel Canon in d80.
Not a bad price at all, considering even Costco’s bundle (which admittedly also includes a 70-300mm lens and a bag) is still $550, AFTER a $200 rebate.
But I chose the Nikon route, and stick to that I shall.
/giphy rebel
/giphy nikon
@haydesigner A 300mm zoom for $150? If the lens is any good, that’s not horribly shabby.
Ditto the Nikon. It’s fun buying lenses older than I am and slapping them on a recent DSLR.
@haydesigner
@stinks MSRP on the lens is ~$200.
It’s not a very awesome lens but still, moar lens better.
@haydesigner Thats no 18-55 zoom.
@mike808 the deal on Costco includes both the 18-55 kit lens and the 75-300 III
@jbartus, I believe @mike808 was likely referring to the zoom in the giphy I posted. (Which is random, by the way.) And yes, that zoom is way more than 300mm.
@stinks People under 30 can do that with Canon lenses, too. The EF mount was released in 1987.
@craigthom GET OFF OF MY LAWN. AND TAKE YOUR MANGY MUTT WITH YOU!
@haydesigner oh gotcha, missed that my bad.
@craigthom @stinks there are also FD adapters available for short money.
@haydesigner Yes, I was. Bonus points for the Star Wars reference missed, you did. You call this the Rebel Alliance?
@mike808 to be fair the sentence structure worked fine as a normal sentence so there was no reason to suspect a reference. “That’s No Moon” stands out because of the improbability of what’s being said and such, yours fit in context.
@haydesigner how well does that zoom work on say the upstairs windows of that house to the right?
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@jbartus The 75-300 isn’t a great lens. Try to find an old used 100-300. I’ve had one of those for almost twenty years. It’s a little soft on the edges, but it’s razor sharp in the middle.
@craigthom I know, I said it wasn’t awesome, but I still maintain that more lenses is better than just the kit.
MAP, SMAP. If you’d sold them with a purple Holga lens as a kit, I’d really consider you to be anti-establishment.
@stinks I love purple.
/giphy barney mad
@stinks I want one of those.
@denboy Haha! Nah.
@connorbush Thank you for your service to the Meh community.
@stinks hey there-what’s a Holga lens?

@craigthom I concur; my phone has a 1/2.6" sensor, an f1.8 fixed aperture lens, and full manual controls; it can take a great picture
@craigthom I’m not convinced a suitably modern point and shoot wouldn’t outperform it, though I will agree the convenience factor has merit. Also, I was actually advocating against digital zoom…
@jqubed G4, I presume?
Tax darn you CA
for boring economics info reasons, I’m curious how meh gets these below MAP. and what is the actual retail mark-up on goods.
they should have something like this for everything: http://www.coinflation.com/
@Jdub You’d have to tell us a long story? Good call, ain’t nobody got time for that.
@Konraden Damn, guilt me into it, then. Someone had them and wanted to move them. And maybe needed some cash, to boot.
/giphy show me the money
@Jdub You weren’t kidding about the long story. I could only get about four words in and had to leave for an appointment. @Konraden is right, ain’t nobody got time for that.
Darn, and I just gave away my spare $394 to a homeless guy. Guess I’ll have to wait until next time!
/giphy shrug
@harveydanger that shrug is not nearly as comical as I was expecting.
@harveydanger Within a certain time period you can keep hitting the edit button and then saving it to have it pick a different gif.
@jqubed TMYK!
@braveit1
So ilthe newer model is rhe T6s not the t7 but the T7 will be out probably after September or so.
@braveit1
Look, I’ve got a 60 year-old 300mm on my 3100, but, um, no.
It’s not even close. (Okay, it’s close, but it’s also really complicated (same link))
(TIL I could change the giphy with each edit. TYL I get crazy with the giphies.)
Cheers!
I heart Nikon, sorry
#Team Pentax
@username There are still some of you out there. I admire your courage.
@reddinghill just got a K-1… could have had 4+ of these Canons instead. No regrets.
@pajamma I got a buddy who swears by em. And I must admit I like the look, and some of the features are pretty innovative. They just don’t compete if we’re talking video.
@username Same here! Love that the K mount hasn’t changed over the years and I’ve got 6 lenses ranging back to when my father had his first film SLR.
Here’s a comparison of why I own Pentax, they strive to do the still picture thing better, which is WHAT I PURCHASED my DSLR to do, take still pictures:
http://snapsort.com/compare/Canon-EOS-70D-vs-Pentax_K-5/specs
The K-5 is a three year older camera, yet scores much better scores on the image quality, which is why I am using a DSLR, otherwise, I just use my phone. Not to mention, it’s a less expensive camera . . .and yes, I understand there are people out there taking video with DSLR, and for them, great, more power to them and you.
@GarbyRator ooooh suh duh. i didn’t know we were in ALL CAPS territory here. i’ll slink back to my corner now.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
@jbartus yah.
Why is HD at 60fps so hard in this price range?
@ozzallos 720p is 60 frames per second. 1080i/p is 30 frames per second. There’s little real point in making a 1080 camera that does 60 fps when few people could use that.
@jqubed What about this use?
@mike808 Edit to perfect loop gif please.
@mike808 Those are high-end slow-motion cameras that shoot several hundred if not several thousand frames per second. No one building that kind of camera would stop at just 60.
Baby Arm.
@reddinghill two? I’m curious, why?
@reddinghill and why are you sitting on them ?
@jbartus I am a digital marketing whatever, and sometimes that includes shooting videos. Also, I occasionally make dumb things for YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCS1OrH7pp2lsM3rd0f9_pOg
@jmbunkin I have no furniture, only cameras.
@reddinghill nice! I figured you had a need I was curious as to what it was so thanks for answering my vague question in exactly the manner in which it was intended but not written!
WOW, what a deal Canon throws at us! 2012’ tech at 2016’ price!
@wishod T3i or D3200 will perform just like this piece of marketing crap for half a cost.
@wishod Can you post the link for the T3i or the D3200 for $197,I can’t find that deal.
Thanks
@jmbunkin search at slickdeals (for current and past deals on new stuff) or ebay (for current offers of used gear).
My wife is still super-pleased with her Nikon D3100. But thanks for the cool offering!
Meh.
@plastrd three Weber kettles from garage sales have cost me $5 over the years. Still use two. One died when the barn fell and smushed it.
Spending $5 for headphones or a travel mug on Meh? Sure. Dropping five bills on anything on Meh? Oh hell naw!
@braveit1 i know it’s better… But wifi!
@braveit1 @damccull Don’t get the EyeFi card.
http://petapixel.com/2016/06/30/eye-fi-brick-older-wi-fi-cards-photographer-arent-happy/
I wish it were the T6i or T6s. However I am on the market for the starter lens this camera comes with. If someone bought this deal and doesn’t needs the lens, hit me up, maybe we can figure a win-win transaction
@MrFreeze Good lord, you posted your phone number on the public internet?! Have you gone mad?!
/giphy horrified
@MrFreeze @thumperchick Maybe an edit is in order?
Oh, and @mediocrebot, I’d totally bite on some nicer Canon lenses if they ever come up.
The Wirecutter’s entry level DSLR guide has this “Don’t confuse the Canon T5i with the Canon T5 or T6, which are dreadful.”
Btw, does anyone know if the mirror hinge in these is made of metal or plastic?
Canon: “Take that, Meh, for funning on our MAP!”

@moose
@RedOak You probably know this but in case anyone else doesn’t, copy/paste the link to a new window and it works.
@danpritts Yep. But the “referral” is the targeted spank and entertaining part.
You can also simply click on the hyperlink in the quoted denial text above.
@wew What do you not like about your T5i?
@craigthom there is no older version of the 80D and the 7DMll is probably too much camera for her/him.
I was just so excited about that.
@wew
/giphy so excited
p.s. I didn’t buy it. yet. I don’t know what.
I just bought it via Last Call. Had to borrow $50 and use every penny of my birthday money I’d been saving. Maybe I’ll get to photograph a fierce-ruby-baboon someday.
@Pony Worth!
Received order and battery will not charge. I need to return
Just curious, does anyone remember the price Meh was selling this camera for?
@brucetg The bottom of the deal’s page has all the sales info.
@brucetg $394
