We bought a set of these Calphalon space-saving/stacking pans/lids a few years back and it sure is nice to have them take up less space than the random collection of cookware we had accumulated over a few decades. They also seem to handle the (medium-intensity?) cooking demands we throw at them (and – so far – haven’t melted or had food stick to them or whatever crappy pans do).
@andymand
We received a similar, though not quite as compactly stacking set, which has thus far been quite good in medium-duty use.
It still increased our cupboard space because as stated, we were able to clear out [and donate] our mismatched cookware collected over decades of buying pots and pans piecemeal.
It was probably the best thing we ever received in an IRK
Are the utensils the same as those cheap black plastic utensils they sell at the dollar store? The type that they had a scare about last year because they thought that were adding excessive plastics to our food (but it turned out to be a misplaced decimal point)? But still not particularly great?
@swechsler I’m going to bet they are since Select is Calphalon’s cheap line, hence the reason it’s sold at Walmart. This set has an MSRP of $159.99 on Calphalon’s website, so this isn’t even a deal, and that MSRP is also a dead giveaway for what quality to expect.
@troy This link comes up if you do a Google search for the set. In the Google search results page, it states the price of $159.99, perhaps they may be discontinued as there are a few of their Select items 50% off right now, and the 14 pc set is no longer an available option on the website.
@wickedmelon Yes - it looks like they had an outlet price of $159.99 once upon a time, although the item# (2590437) is not the same as ours (2172312). Surely it means something we’re cheaper than Calphalon’s own outlet price, no?

“AI” because why should anyone keep their impotence private.
I’ve got this set and a couple spares, love it!
Is a Punch of pans like a Rafter of turkeys, or a Murder of crows?
@dasred Evidence for when they correct it and make your comment incomprehensible.
Can the lids be cooked on?
@uvassassin They’re glass, I think, so probably not.
@uvassassin who tf cooks on lids???
@uvassassin @wickedmelon Me and the homies got pretty cooked on lids back in the 70’s.
@uvassassin @wickedmelon Well, they do look kind of like skillets because they’re flat.
FYI, the warranty for the Select line as per the warranty link you posted states the warranty is 10-years, not lifetime. Warranty.
@mercucio2 I updated the info because it looks like you’re correct, but maybe someone above me will change it back and provide some clarity.

@swechsler From the Walmart link, they do look not particularly great.
Just get ones from Thermoworks: https://www.thermoworks.com/shop/products/hi-temp-silicone-tools/
@mcanavino @swechsler They’re a step up from dollar store. But nothing to write home about either.
These are $159.99 on Calphalon’s site, how is this a deal? Ugh.
@wickedmelon Link? The 9-piece is $299.99

@wickedmelon I found these, for $119.99 though didn’t say nesting.

@mcanavino @wickedmelon Those are not the “space-saving” variety
I feel like I would hate the side handles on the lid. Need to use both hands?
@catthegreat There’s only one lid with two handles (for the dutch oven)
@troy ok! Now I’m more confused haha
I got a set of these a while back, and I like them a lot.
Looks like it was Nov. 2023, and the price was the same.
Spouse had just mentioned we need new pots and pans, I’ll call this a bit of good timing.
